hours but the danger is not gone. they are still actively fighting the fire, saying the single greatest concern is the wind and the curfew is in place overnight and calling the next 24 hours critical. >> you see the damage that has been done in this area right here. today a first look at the destruction left in the unforgiving fire's wake, 100 structures lost or damaged in this tennessee town including it's mayor's home. >> personally i think i have lost my house but things can be rebuilt. >> overnight -- these raging flames devouring the terrain and motorists in gatlinburg fleeing as they were ordered to evacuate. from the great smokey mountains to populated areas turning totally wood into an orange arm

gedan. and 10,000 animals there threatened but attacked. strong wind speeds of up to 60 miles per hour and the southeast's worst drought in a decade. >> in a span of 15 to 20 minutes, we were dispatched and alerted to almost 20 structure fires. >> as of this morning, more than a dozen structure fires still burning as 2,000 people live hunkered down in shelters. fire officials saying that they believe the worst is over and it looking like the weather will cooperate. rain is forecast late tonight with 1 to 2 inches expected that alone authorities say should put out most of the fires. channel 6 "action news." >> lauren thank you. now to the latest on the airline disaster in south america, officials say it's remarkable that six people survived a plane crash in a mountainous area in columbia. it was carrying a soccer team.

conference outside of fire station six. the fire department decided to keep the engine house closed when they don't have enough firefighters on staff. >> due to budgettory reasons they will decide to put engine six in a permanent bypass when additional provisions are met. those conditional provisions will be met just about every single day. because the wilmington fire department is down 19 firefighters to date. >> count ill man williams is asking fire chief annthony good to reconsider. and police ask if you can identify the man in the photo the second suspect wanted in connection with three armed robberies at the goodwill store in wilmington. two of them happened in october and the last one was this past friday, a 14-year-old is arrested in the case and now police are hoping to identify and arrest this suspect as well.
