good afternoon sara bloomquist is off. in the news a wilmington firefighter has died from her injuries months after bat thing the blaze. and ford is recalling thousands of vehicles because it's seatbelts may not work. >> the big story on "action news" at noon is a devastating fire in lehigh valley. a multi-alarm blaze damaged row homes leaving many people homeless. gray hall is live now in allentown. >> reporter: it was a dangerous and intense situation just last night in allentown. if you look behind me daylight reveals the damage and workers are here boarding up the homes that were damaged andself a hom good news in all of this no lives were lost and no serious

injuries. >> fire and black smoke. and firefighters fighting and people are running. >> fire crews battled a ferocious fire, the intense flames forced 23 people from seven families from their homes. the chaos started at 7:30 on north fulton street. >> you make sure that everybody out first. the first object is rescue. if someone is inside you go in and get them. >> fortunately there was no damage but there was a lot of damage. firefighters got the upper hand and had it under control but before it was over eight were damaged and six destroys and two may be salvageable. >> they knocked down the initial fire. and made checks to the buildings left and right and as soon as they made the checks they saw the fire was up there.

jumping from one building to the next hoping to get ahead of it. but the whole roof was on fire. >> fire is something people don't want to deal with especially before the holidays. >> my daughter was in the back bedroom and she came out and said the house next door is on fire. and i looked and i came down stairs and grabbed some things and she grabbed the animals and i looked at their kitchen and there was big flames everywhere. shooting out everywhere. >> back out live again a frightening scene here in allentown but the families grateful there was no serious injuries and no lives were lost and the red cross is assisting families impacted by the fire. live in allentown, gray hall, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you for that report. in west philadelphia the investigation continues into a deadly blaze that killed a 44-year-old man here. the fire started at 7:30 last

night. the 300 block of north 56th street. two businesses have been damaged and eight people displaced. there is no word on the victim's identify or what may have sparked the fire. the wilmington fire department continues to mourn the loss of a third firefighter that died from her injuries from a september arson. hope succumbed to serious burns. two colleagues died on the day of the fire. hope a 23 year veteran was a single mother to three girls who was just months away from retiring. >> arty met with me in september. prior to the lake view road fire to plan for her retirement this january. she was leaving the department to become a nurse as she was in the final stages of completing her nursing degree.

philadelphia and 49 in allentown and 38 in the poconos. at the coast in cape may 49 and the winds are a factor this afternoon. sustained anywhere from 12 miles per hour in millville and 14 in philadelphia and 22 miles per hour out west in lancaster with the west-northwestly wind and we picking up higher gusts in philadelphia up to many 14 miles per hour. looking north and west we are tracking a weak disturbance but no precipitation for our region into late tonight. and the first weekend in december, the evening commute looks like this. 49 degrees at 4:00 p.m. and mostly sunshine and clear at 5:00 p.m. upper 40s at 6:00 p.m. and mostly clear and dry and quiet at 7:00 p.m. and that number is coming in at 45.

former nfl player, joe mcknight. louisiana police think his death stems from an apparent case of road rage and the suspect is now out of jail. we are live from new york city with the latest details. >> reporter: rick good morning. we learned that the man that we learned shot the exnfl running back is released and no charges have been filed. police outside of new orleans say that there are many lingering questions about what led up to the shooting. first responders tried to revive joe mcknight who was shot during an argument at an intersection. shot on this video posted to youtube. this as louisiana police took ronald gasser into custody at the scene. and overnight gasser was released. police say that the star running back was standing outside of his

car when he shot him. but he is not facing charges as the investigation is on going. mcknight first drafted by the new york jet in 2010 last played in 2014 for the kansas city chiefs. family and friends defer stated they will never see him play again. >> this is a tragic moment. >> i raised him from 6 and been in his life from that point on and i just talked to him. just talked to him. just talked to him. looking forward tore his pro day in april and i just had a conversation with him. >> i wanted him to know that this was not a troubled kid. a young man. the boy was just trying to make it back into the nfl. that is all he wanted to do. that was his whole dream. >> there is no word yet on how or why this incident started. officials there say that aside from the gun that was

>> he fired a shot into the ceiling of his classroom. his parents were on the way to the school and rushed to the school and heard the shot and ran towards the sound, they disarmed the boy before anyone was hurt. >> the teacher and a student in that room immediately engaged him verbally in trying to talk him out of doing this. i believe those seconds played a big role in the outcome today. >> it's still not clear what charges the boy may face. secretary of state john kerry met with pope francis, kerry a practicing catholic met with the pope in vatican city. kerry introduced him to his staff and took pictures, he is in italy to participate in the rome mediterranean dialogs focusing on security in that region. it is a big weekend for several local football teams, a look at who is going head to head this weekend.

well, a local high school teacher may have a new career on television. in october richard curtis beat out 20 other finalists to cohost and has already been on the show twice and is headed back to live with kelly late this month. he is set to cohost december 12th to the 14th. he is a television teacher in buck county. we wish him luck.

"action news" at 12:30 continues with rick williams sara bloomquist and meteorologist, david murphy. hello again sara is off and here are the stories we are following for you now on "action news" at 12:30. a mother in philadelphia is facing charges after her 12-year-old son was killed. we have the latest on that. and the former new york jets running back was killed during an apparent road rage incident and a witness describes the moments before the shooting and surveillance cameras capture the moment before a school bus crashes into a house in florida. now the details, a wilmington firefighter is being remembered for her bravery. hope died last night months after the arson left her severely burned. vernon odom talked to the fire chief in wilmington and he is there now with more on the sad story. >> reporter: good afternoon.
