for app sidewalk bandit in philadelphia. police have released surveillance video of a.m. violent armed holdup of a 27-year-old woman in northern liberties. this happened tuesday but law men just released the video in the hope that it will help them track this guy down. "action news" reporter bob brooks is live at the scene of the crime, the 400 block of north third street. bob. >> reporter: jim, good evening. as we're about to see in this video this could have happened to anyone. this was strictly the wrong place at the wrong time and luckily our victim is okay. the scariest part is there's not much you can do to stop this. you can see the suspect sneaks up from behind. it's around 6 o'clock it's dark. he's got a gun and strikes. choking the 28-year-old victim and pushing the gun into the side of her head. he steals her bag and takes off. the crime unfolding in the 400 block of north third in northern liberties. >> that's the gun. >> that's crazy. >> reporter: that's sara everett. she works in the area and

makes the talk her train stop like that at night all the time. >> it's crazy to think that would it happen up here because it's such a nice area especially at that time of day. that takes a lot of guts to do that to someone. >> reporter: you'll see in the video the suspect doesn't fight back. way gun to your head police say that's exactly what you should do. >> don't fight. give them whatever they're asking for and live to see another day. >> reporter: they also hope by showing this video and just how dangerous this suspect is, someone will come forward with information that can lead to an arrest. >> in the early evening hours on street where that people are just walking possibly home so again we're hoping somebody can recognize this individualism take a look. this is a clearer picture of the suspect up close. if you know who he is, give the police a call. now the thing to remember is do not struggle. this victim was not hurt. police say that was key, that she listened to the suspect's demands. reporting live in northern liberties bob brooks channel6

"action news. jim. >> thank you bob. 27 people are out of their homes tonight in the wake of that big fire last night in allentown. meanwhile officials are still searching for a cause. here is the latest on that from "action news" reporter gray hall. >> reporter: chopper six shows the damage from the air and gives you a glimpse of just how intense this fire was. thursday night fierce flames ripped through this allentown neighborhood. firefighters rushed to the scene about 8:30 along north fulton street to battle the flames and save lives. >> first thing you ask when you get on any scene you start rounding people up and make sure everybody is out. our first is rescue. >> reporter: no lives were lost and there were no injuries. jason is one of seven families living on this block and considers himself lucky. he wasn't home at the time and says his house only had smoke damage. unlike most of his neighbors he was able to collect some of his items including his pet snake. he says driving up and seeing the flames inches from his home was that mind blowing. >> like a fire moved like backdraft or something like that. i'm 30 years old. never seen a fire like that in my life. that was crazy.

>> reporter: the three-alarm fire burned through several row homes before crews got the upper hand eight homes were damaged six of them william destroyed and firefighters say two may be salvageable. the fire disrupted and displaced many families but through the flames came a ray of sunshine an acts of kindness. jessica rivera lives blocks away just happened to pass the fire. she is now collecting donations for the victims. >> i went to the people that were crying with blankets we hugged them and prayed with them. i said what's your number can i pray with you right now what's your -- how many people live in your house what are the ages. >> reporter: the cause of this fire is still under vessels we can tell you that the red cross is helping seven families for a total of 23 people. and jessica, the woman you heard from in the piece says that she hopes to fill a.m. u-haul and transport those donations to the victims. reporting in allentown gray hall channel6 "action news". >> and black bunting hangs over the entrance of wilmington fire station number

five morning the loss of a third firefighter following a fire in late september. as we told you yesterday ardythe hope succumbed to injuries she suffered battling the arson fire 68 days ago. today wilmington fire chief anthony goode called lope a fighter. the 23 year veteran overcame a brain tumor early in her career to win many commendations and awards for her service. >> we love ardy hope. and we will always remember her and maintain her honor. >> hope had that planned to retire from the department in january to start a career in nursing. she was a single mother of three. two colleagues lieutenant jerry fickes and captain christopher leach died on the day of the blaze. we now know more about the charges that a woman from that kensington in philadelphia a mother faces in connection with the death of her two-year-old son. police charged andrea worrell with endangering the welfare avenue child and obstructing

justice. those are the current charges. her son zyair was found unresponsive at their home on east clementine street tuesday night. zyair died at the hospital early thursday. officials say the boy had a lacerated liver and bruises on his chest and face. he also tested positive for thc, the main ingredient in marijuana. montgomery county authorities renewed their plea for information in an unsolved murder from 1993. on this date 23 years ago the body of julie barnia was that found at the lansdale septa conrail freight yard. the 18-year-old girl had gone missing three weeks before. an autopsy revealed she had suffered a blunt force head injury. a $10,000 reward is still available for information leading to the arrest and conviction of her killer. a judge has denied a request for app special prosecutor to be appointed in a criminal misconduct complaint against new jersey governor chris christie.

the citizens complaint was filed in connection with the bridgegate scandal. william brennan claimed that christie violated the state's official misconduct statute by failing to reopen the lanes leading to the george washington bridge in 2013. the temple football team is preparing to take on the naval academy for the championship of the american athletic conference. ducis rodgers is live in annapolis and ducis, temple has to stop one of the most prolific running attacks in the country. >> reporter: jim, navy has the second ranked rushing offense in the nation over 300 yards per game on the ground. conversely temple is a top 10 scoring defense so as the old adage goes something has got to give. temple head coach matt rhule was more than happy to pose with the championship trophy earlier this afternoon but he told me didn't want to touch it perhaps a little superstitious. winning the aac title would be

>> thank you ducis. thousands of people lined up to learn about job openings in philadelphia today. chopper6 was over the communities college of philadelphia in spring garden as the lines snaked around the building. they were all there to attend the city's hire me career fair. organizers say 5,000 people showed up. they expected just 1500. 30 departments from the city were on campus today. how many jobs were available? 100. the amore sculpture has a permanent home in philadelphia. the bilingual version of robert indiana's love sculpture was on loan for pope francis' visit last year. it was femme temporarily installed at the top of the art museum steps. now it stands at sister cities park across the street from the cathedral basilica of saints peter and paul. amore means lover in the pope's native spanish and language a traditional

>> police in trenton are trying to track down the

gunman who shot and killed a woman who was a passenger in a lyft ride share vehicle in trenton. and they still have a lot more questions than answers. new jersey correspondent nora muchanic has the story. >> reporter: who shot 27-year-old amber dudley of collingswood. that's what police in trenton are trying find out. >> i heard that somebody got shot and it was unbelievable 'cause it was no gun shots. you don't hear nothing. >> reporter: wednesday evening about 7:15 she was with two friends in a lyft ride share car that traveled from north jersey to trenton. the occupants planned to pick unthree vehicles from someone they were meeting. near the intersection of east trenton avenue and bruin anything police say a gun toting man jumped in the back of the car attempting to rob the trio. dudley was shot in the torso during the commotion. the lyft driver took off leaving the shooter behind and pulled over in front of the trenton police station less than mile away. police and emt's performed cpr until dudley was taken away by ambulance. she died from the gun shot.

>> surprising somebody would kill a woman but i'm not surprised that it happened. one kid 17 years old got shot there last summer. >> reporter: officials not identifying the lyft driver. the two other occupants of the car or the plan they were meeting about the cars. dudley's family had no comment at their home in collingswood. the ride share company released a statement saying our deepest sympathies are with the family and loved ones of the lyft passenger who was tragically killed. safety is our top priority and lyft has been working closely with law enforcement to assist their investigation ." >> scary to know you take ride somewhere you paying the cab or something and you lose your life. it's sad. >> reporter: was it planned? was it a random robbery and shooting? investigators are looking into that as they search for the shooter who is still on the run. in trenton i'm nora muchanic channel6 "action news". >> construction crews are now at work on the new trenton central high school. governor chris christie was among those at the

groundbreaking this morning. demolition on the school finished in april when the iconic clock tower was brought down. the school is being replaced by a new $130 million high school. the new school is slated to open in 2019. jack markell is trading the governor's office for the ballet this weekend. delaware governor practiced his dance steps this morning. markel is set to perform in the wilmington ballet's 50th annual truck scale of the nutcracker tomorrow afternoon. kind of looked like rehearsals for "dancing with the stars." matinee begins at 1:30 at the playhouse on rodney square.

against navy. good sign for temple quarterback philip walker. he's no longer in that walking boot. walker is expected to play against navy. temple boards the bus and leaves campus in style for annapolis, maryland today. temple is in annapolis tonight and so is our ducis rodgers. the preview of the owls conference title game. ducis. >> reporter: jeff, it's the biggest game of the season and a bigger game awaits if temple is able to win tomorrow. temple cop find itself in a new year's bowl game but head coach matt rhule does not want his team to look past navy just yet. coach rhule knows to get his hands this afternoon aac championship trophy he will have to find a way to stop navy's triple option offense. the midshipmen are second in the nation in rushing offense 342 yards per game. that number seems silly. they hung 75 points on smu just last week. >> they have 20 different ways to attack what you're doing and so when we go on the field

accumulation. tonight, though, it's really just chilly. the wind chill factor is 37 degrees philadelphia right now, 37 wilmington, feels like 26 in the poconos so if you're heading out tonight you definitely do that wants to bundle up but satellite6 along with action radar showing this is a setup you kind of like to see heading into the week. we have a double barreled high pressure system. what that will do is bring us a good amount of sunshine at least the first half of the weekend. it will be windy as that high pressure builds in and even tonight it will be on a brisk side with a breeze all night long, so 38 degrees in philadelphia, allentown 34, cape may 40, wilmington 36 degrees but future tracker showing how it will feel tomorrow morning at 8 o'clock we'll have that wind chills below freezing. 31 in philadelphia, it feels like 29 in that reading, feels like 16 in the poconos. all day long it will be on the windy side so even in the afternoon, wind chill at 3 o'clock 42 degrees but many of our suburbs wind chills

will be in the 30's so despite a good amount of sunshine it will be cool tomorrow and if you're heading to annapolis, temple taking on navy for the aac championship, loads of sunshine but chilly. kickoff temperature 47 degrees. by the fourth quarter, 50 degrees and winds will be pretty brisk. 15 to 25 miles per hour out of the northwest so that definitely could have an impact on the game. the polar express, though, will be arriving late next week. right now true arctic air is stuck over alaska, 20 to 30 degrees below zero. but this will start migrating to the south as we head through the week next week by tuesday in the northern plains northern rockies been friday and saturday this is when a jet stream will drop to the south, allow a moderated arctic air mass to be moving in so friday afternoon highs only in the low 40's and then on saturday of next week, temperatures not climbing out of the 30's so it's going to feel very cold next weekend.

this weekend about where we should be for the beginning of december, a chilly wind tomorrow, mostly sunny skies with a high of 49 degrees. on sunday, we start the day with sun. the clouds roll in during the afternoon, 47 degrees and monday is when a weak disturbance will be pulling through early in the morning. that will bring us some rain and snow showers. rain philadelphia areas to the south. mixing in with some wet snow in the northwest suburbs and again, could get a light accumulation of snow up in the poconos early on monday morning. then some peeks of sunshine late in the day and then tuesday looks like we could have a pretty good shrug of moisture, a chilly rain, 48 degrees. wednesday a lingering shower. otherwise mostly cloudy with a high of 50 degrees. on thursday, this is when a potent cold front pulls through bringing us a chance of rain. temperatures in the low 50's and then friday blustery and cold, 42 degrees and again next saturday temperatures stuck in the 30's so all in all, compared to that this weekend looking pretty good. >> thank you cecily.

finally santa traded in his sleigh for a jet ski today. how is this for an entrance to the adventure aquarium in camden? the ride across the delaware river is part of the aquarium's eighth annual christmas celebration. santa and his elf went inside for a swim with the sea creatures and they greeted kids from inside the tank. he was wearing a tank which is necessary. abc's "world news tonight" with david muir is next on channel6.
