the post looked dangerous to some but the investigation is revealing now that it may not be what it first seemed. it is monday afternoon. i'm brian taff. >> and i'm sharrie williams. the confusion over a high schooler's instagram image and the antiviolence campaign it's connected to is our story today. john rawlins live at the upper perkiomen school district. >> reporter: tense moments today. no classes today for 3800 plus students. driving the situation an overnight complaint of what was thought to be an online threat against some of those students but that now appears to have been a misunderstanding. a confusing morning all of the upper perkiomen schools closed, a vague statement on the district web site cited students and staff safety and a police investigation. this high school junior said there wasn't much additional information. >> just said the threat because that's what i knew of then. i didn't know it was a misunderstanding yet. >> reporter: the concern a social media posting

containing a link to this recently published public service video that was actually developed to help people spot the warning signs of a.m. potential school shooter. in a pivotal scene there is a gym full of kids in the background a door opens, a person is seen readying a rifle as the students flee. the social posting contained caption and feedback that alarmed some as a threat against the uner perk district. state police were called overnight. by midday investigators concluded the poster had not intended to threaten anyone. quite the on that it. >> the person is cooperating along with the parents. wait looks like was an unintended posting or an intentional post thawing taken out taken -- that was taken out of context. the subject was trying to post part avid yo' on sandy hook promise.org. >> reporter: so a misunderstanding. there is a sensitivity at this district concerning gun violence owing to a 1990's incident when a student

brought a gun to school and fatally shot another student. so for now classes are to resume tomorrow. some extra activities, some extracurricular activities i should say actually resumed today. live in pennsburg, john rawlins channel6 "action news." brian. >> disconcerting sign of the times john. thank you. as many as nine deaths may be linked to a deadly batch of heroin. six overdoses happened last night many in the kensington section of the city. the victims were found just a few blocks away from each other. the overdoses started sometime in the evening with the latest around 8:00 p.m. on east indiana avenue. coming up at 4:30 wendy saltzman talks ton officials about what they're doing to counteract drug epidemic. >> they snuck up on an employee terrorized her at gunpoint noun they're on the run. upper darby police are asking for help finding two armed robbery suspects.

the man and woman targeted a laundromat on marshall road early this morning. bob brooks is live outside that that business with video of the crime. bob. >> reporter: sharrie, i don't know how you can do this to somebody. as we're about to see in this surveillance video this is some really scary stuff but first this is a laundromat where it happened t and w coin. the employee inside she was alone and roughed up pretty bad. it's 4:00 a.m. the employee of the t and w laundromat in upper darby is hard at work vacuuming lint out from the drivers. here come two suspects. the employee is held up at gun down. >> how they didn't kill that lady is beyond me. >> reporter: michael chitwood says there's only one way to describe these two. >> urban terrorists. they got ski masks on, some type of camouflage. >> reporter: we can see the victim is knocked to the ground a gun is jammed into her side. customers here are sickened by what we showed them. >> she's a sweet lady, very

sweet. kind. >> she real nice. i ain't think nobody would do that to her. >> reporter: now you can see in the video the victim was taken back here into the boiler room. the cops say that the message from the suspect was if you say anything, we'll kill you. in the boiler room her shoes are stripped and she's held down by the suspect way gun. more video shows us the accomplice went into the officers. police believe this suspect is a woman. she takes $200 cash and roughly $400 in coins. but before she gets away she spills quarters all over the floor and takes her gloves off to pick they up. chitwood is hopeful for fingerprints. >> good old fashioned police work. >> reporter: you can see the suspects are armed and dangerous and that's why you're being asked to help get them off the streets. >> they got a mask on. they got hoodies on. we need the public's help. somebody knows who they are. >> reporter: we hope someone out there does know something about this and they call the police.

for your efforts if it does lead to an arrest you can receive a $2,500 cash reward. reporting live in upper darby bob brooks channel6 "action news." brian. >> bob thank you. new castle county police think they have now solved a cold case dating back to 2012. kevin miller is accused of murdering germ jeremiah macdonald. there were no leads in this case until detectives went to reinterview witnesses. a grand jury heard the case and agreed to bring first degree murder charges against mill earl. miller is already in jail now being held on unrelated charges. >> ♪ >> now to the latest on the transition to donald trump's administration and announcements of new cabinet positions and in trump fashion one of those announcements came via twitter. crumb took to social media with news of the appointment of his former rival dr. benn carson as secretary of housing and urban development. he wrote that carson is "passionate about

strengthening communities and families within those communities. but mr. trump still has several cabinet positions left to fill. we'll get to that in a moment but first today the president-elect met with former vice president al gore to discuss climate change. mr. gore spoke briefly after the meeting. >> i found it an extremely interesting conversation and to be continued and i'm just going leave it at that. thank you. >> reporter: meanwhile there are still some spots that remain unfilled and one of them secretary of state and the short list has now expanded to at least nine. the list includes rex tiller son ceo of exxon mobile. joe manchin jon huntsman a former ambassador chain nan even retired admiral james stavridis. the new names join tennessee senator corker general david

petraeus and rudy giuliani along with mitt romney. today we're also told that three other possible contenders joined this list of nine making it up to a list of 12. we're told that we should know donald trump's final choice by the end of the week so we'll keep our eyes opened for that sharrie. >> more than a few to consider. the push for presidential respect count is focused today on the state of pennsylvania. green party presidential candidate jill stein has filed on 11th hour lawsuit in federal court to force a retally of the votes in the keystone state. the recount would be of the paper ballots and an examination of the electronic voting machines. stein is hinging the lawsuit on constitutional arguments including a claim that the state's voting process is unfair. president-elect donald trump has called stein's efforts a "scam." >> the today began for many of us with rain but gave way to afternoon sunshine as we get a first check of the accuweather forecast.

"action news" traffic center with an upit. >> drying out quite nicely and we like that but doesn't matter brian and sharrie. we still have some really slow speeds, a whole bunch of red zones. 15 miles per hour on northbound 95 just north of the betsy ross bridge. over on the schuylkill just 12 on the eastbound side by girard. only five on the westbound side there by south street and the sun glare quite different from what we had this morning but sun glare is playing an issue a part this afternoon. this is 95 southbound side. you're rideing into that sunshine here by ridley park and so it is a little bit of an extra slow go from 420 on down to 320. live look in center city at the vine street expressway, stacked up near both directions by the schuylkill expressway. this is just normal afternoon volume it looks like this most afternoons. overnights this week once again it will close, the vine will be shut down at 11 o'clock for construction just in case you were wondering. live look in east falls this is the roosevelt boulevard extension northbound

>> ♪ >> in oakland california this afternoon the search for more victims of this raging deadly warehouse fire is now on hold. so far 36 people have now been confirmed dead but the search for more has been put on hold. at least for now because one wall within that warehouse is now leaning inward and the building is no longer stable posing a hazard to rescue crews. authorities expect the number of victims to rise when that century assumes later today. the fire erupted during a dance party late friday night. authorities also believe they have located the sections of the building where the fire started but still the cause remains unknown. >> we've got some areas where this steel is actually twitted and wrapped in the back of the building. we can see fire spread and atf

after the construction of a controversial oil pipeline was denied. the army corps of engineers denied a permit top extend the pipeline. that happened yesterday. the tribe believes the pipeline threatens drinking water and cultural sites. those in favor of the pipeline are now turning to supporter and president-elect donald trump to reverse the decision once he takes office. to wall street. stocks continue to roar the dow up more than 45 points today closing at a new intra day high. the dow closing at 19,216. the nasdaq is up more than 53 points and the s & p 500 closing up nearly 13 points today. >> well you might not like this. it's been the only freeway to get your luggage to your destination but now your carry on could cost you. united airlines is about start charging for that overhead bin space. now the fee is part of a new inexpensive basic economy

to trees and cars and making for a rather pretty sight 19 even though it might be unwelcome for some of you. >> i'm asking is it real. >> it's real. >> you know. >> believe it. >> oh, gosh. all right. with that, let's talk about accuweather. >> all right. our fact checker on that snow adam joseph standing by with details. hey, my friend. >> it is december and it didn't last long association it's -- so it's a little ease into the winter season for parts of the level. parts of berks county higher terrain did that see a little bit of snow early this morning but right now you see a little glow along the horizon as the sun is about to set breaking apart some of that cloud cover but you know what, this is right on par for when you typically see your first snowfall. we take a look at a 30 year average. in allentown it's usually december 6th. that's tomorrow so perfect timing there but for philadelphia and wilmington, our first snow is usually not for another week and a half or so and it's even later than that in that atlantic city. pretty much near christmas is when the shore sees its first

round of accumulating snow. 47 right now in the lehigh valley, the same for reading, 48 wilmington, 49 in philadelphia. 48 in millville and these numbers pretty close to normal as well. as we look a little closer you can see those clouds breaking apart but as the clouds begin to break apart more clouds are working in from the south and west so we're being squeeze played by two separate systems so we're kind of in the lull right now and you look to the south and you can see all of this moisture pulling up from the gulf of mexico. low pressure working its way towards new orleans even the panhandle of flash flood we've got a tornado watch box up there. we're not going to see severe weather but we'll get another round of heavy rain pushing our way but for tonight it is quiet partly cloudy, seasonably chilly 29 in the lehigh valley, 33 trenton, run in millville. upper 30's for dover and cape may. future tracker it is dry here tomorrow morning. a lot of clouds again pulling in from the south. even at lunchtime it is dry across much of the area except

far southern zones of new jersey as well as delaware starting to see their first raindrops and then it overspreads the region during the evening rush tomorrow and it could begin as some wet snowflakes in the lehigh valley up into the poconos. poconos could see one to 3 inches tomorrow night if it stays as snow up there but you could see heavy rain all the why into the lehigh valley tomorrow evening and then by wednesday morning, just a few lingering showers as the bulk of the rain moves away. and as we take a look at some of those rainfall totals looking about a quarter inch for reading allentown lancaster and near half a inch for philadelphia all points to the south and east. that many four day at 4:00 forecast tomorrow we start dry. we end with rain pushing in of 47 degrees and then early showers give way to some sun wednesday afternoon, up to 52. and then a lot of clouds again thursday, another fronts arrives with a scattered shower of 45 and the mighty cold air lurks behind that front. it's blustery cold windy maybe a flurry in the air, only 39 on friday with lower wind

"action news" investigative reporter went sea dee saltzman live today at police headquarters with the latest details on this. wendy. >> reporter: brian, this is the medication the d.a. says is saving lives. it's called narcan but this weekend nine people lost their battle with heroin in what police are saying is one of the deadliest weekends in kensington. >> i call it dope city. >> reporter: needles line the sidewalks of kensington evidence of the epidemic taking over the city streets. >> it's very out of control out here. as you can see our kids is playing out here with needles on the streets and dope bags. >> reporter: now the d.a. is vowing to tackle the problem head on one drug dealer at a time. >> we're going do all that we can with the use of undercover police officers, people that are giving us information to prosecute people that are spreading this poison, this death in our community.

of comedian bill cosby. a judge has just ruled that many damaging testimony that cosby gave in an accuser's lawsuit can be used at his criminal sex assault trial. the defense insisted cosby only testified after being promised woe not be charged criminally in the andrea constand case. the 79-year-old acknowledged in the 2006 deposition that he had given young women drugs or alcohol before sexual encounters. a judge must still decide if prosecutors can call 13 other accusers. >> philadelphia police are looking for two men who threw powder and a liquid on a septa bus driver. this happened this morning as the driver pulled up to a stop on rising sun and adams avenues in somerdale. police say the men boarded the route k bus, threw the powder and liquid and then ran off. both substances were tested and were found not to be hazardous. the driver was not injured. >> a horse in new jersey has died after being hit by a car

on the atlantic city expressway. state police say it happened around 3 a.m. at milepost 32.1 in hammonton atlantic county. now troopers were able to, corral a second horse. that horse was not injured. just how the horses got onto the expressway is not yet clear this afternoon. we have new information right now about what caused that many foam to fill a block in center city philadelphia. peco says there was an issue of some kind with one of their transformers at the substation near 13th and lombard streets. officials tell us there was no explosion or fire saturday afternoon but a transformer went off line which caused an emergency shutdown and that's why this foam was released. the foam from the fire suppression system is not toxic and firefighters were able to clean it up after a couple of hours but a very curious scene in center city philadelphia over the weekend. >> yeah. >> getting a lot of. >> looks like cancun in philadelphia, a foam party.

>> looks fun but i'm sure it definitely was not. >> meteorologist adam joseph joining us talking the forecast on this monday. you're tracking some rain heading this way. >> a little break right now. more rain comes in here as we end your tuesday tomorrow and then cold to follow so as we take a look at this step by step here in center city a beautiful shot here as you can see a little bit of reds and yellow there is along the horizon even a few bits of orange. 49 degrees the air temperature. winds out of the north-northwest at 9 miles an hour. the dewpoint pretty low at 30 their degrees. all is quiet right now but as we look at storm tracker6 live double scan, low pressure just to the west of new orleans. that low will be tracking to our west which means it brings in somewhat milder air. most of this will be in the form of liquid other than the lehigh valley late tomorrow could be a few wet snowflakes before changing to rain but you could see a good amount of moisture heading in our direction and then after the rain later this week, a lost cold air locked up right now in the northern parts of the rockies.

>> a georgia man convicted of intentionally leaving his one-year-old son die in a hot suv has been sentenced to life in prison without parole. last mol 36-year-old justin ross harris was convicted of malice murder and other charges in connection with the june 20's 14 death of his son, cooper. cooper died after sitting in the back seat of the vehicle for about seven hours on a day when temperatures reached in the high 80's. investigators say harris wanted to escape the responsibilities of his family

life. >> firefighters and emergency responders were very busy this weekend rescuing people from flooded roads in parts of the gulf coast, texas city got more than a foot of rain in just a matter of days. and in san antonio the rivers rose very quickly stranding drivers throughout the city. the weather also caused a massive sinkhole to open up last night. two people had to be rescued after their cars were submerged. police in ohio say they have arrested a suspect the serial kidnapper 29-year-old justin christian. police say the investigation began last february when a man tried to pull a 10-year-old girl through her bedroom window. the second case involved the abduction a six-year-old girl from her home in cleveland in may. police are now warning parents that christian may have used social media to target his victims. they say dna linked christian to one of the locations. >> well, mysterious looking blue line clouds are appearing over antarctica.

big issues up in the lehigh valley this afternoon. westbound lanes of 222 are blocked off as you come away from allentown and head toward upper macungie and route 100. if you want to stay up on 22, that's busy with the detouring traffic but that is opened. it's 222 westbound side that is blocked right now because of that many crash. also have a crash in burlington township to watch out for along 130 close to van sciver parkway there by the beneficial bank, just 14 miles per hour as a result of that accident scene. and we had some earlier issues on the norristown high speedline. they've been resolved but some delays now on the market frankford subway because of mechanical problems. we'll check it again brian and sharrie, coming up in the 5 o'clock hour. >> all right, see you then. thanks my friend. started out rainy rather gloomy but found in a pretty pretty -- turned into a pretty nice day. >> a live look at the philadelphia international airport. the sun setting. meteorologist adam joseph coming up with some exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast next. >> ♪

that's where the next system is arriving. you can see actually a tornado watch box in effect right now for the panhandle of florida. all this precipitation working to the north and east and it will start to arrive in southern areas late in the morning tomorrow and then work its way through philadelphia, points north as we get into tomorrow afternoon and tomorrow evening. so, for tonight it's a quiet night. seasonably chilly, 30 to 35 so right around that freezing point with winds switching from the northwest to the north and east, five to 10 miles an hour. early tomorrow morning is a trial rush so no problems for your tuesday morning rush hour. that's pretty easy to handle with clouds coming from the south. there you start to see some of those showers at lunchtime, dover, southern parts of cape may. then again it spills right into the lehigh valley, mid to late tomorrow afternoon it could be cold enough at the onset for places like allentown, lehigh tunnel up to the poconos to start as a little wet snow before it flips to rain for the lehigh valley and it's rain heavy at times here on tuesday evening. there you can see some pockets

before we do the scene right there behind me t and w laundromat. in the words of the police it's a miracle this victim wasn't killed in there. it's 4:00 a.m. this morning and she's alone at work inside the t and w laundromat in upper darby. police say at this moment the employee is vacuuming lints out of the drivers her back is turned and she can't hear when two suspects armed with a gun come barging in. she's choked the gun aimed to her head. >> the victim never saw it. they were on top of her before she realized they were there. >> reporter: customers can't believe what we showed them. >> terrible. >> reporter: the employee well known here. >> she's a very sweet lady. she's knocked to the ground the gun jammed into her side. >> she's scared to death. she's scared to report it to the police. >> reporter: the victim was taken back here into the boiler room. the cops say the message from the suspect was if you say anything, we'll kill you. in that boiler room the suspect continues to rough her up. more video shows us the
