raw drizzle and then watch out we have our coldest weather of the season bearing down on us. lets get the details from meteorologist, cecily tynan, and accuweather. >> jim pretty nasty night out there. stormtracker 6 live double scan showing what we have going on is a double barrel low pressure system. one low pressure across the midwest and transferring energy to another low over the carolinas and that is pulling in all the moisture and keeping the cooler air in place. what is why it's that cold rain, now here this is mainly a rain event. but where you see the red, that is what is known as bright banding, that is where our radar reflects off little sleet pellets mixing in with the rain. we have sleet mixing in in trenton and heavy rain coming in philadelphia and could have sleet there as well mixing in. it's melting on the roads but

williams. the flag at barracks was lowered to half staff. and people laid flowers to half staff and she baked cupcakes to show her support. >> i had to do something and say a little prayer and extend my condolences to the new jersey state police department. >> williams was responding to someone driving erratically in the area. he crossed the median and hit him head-on. we were abe to speak with williams friends and neighbors. >> you would be attracted to him. very humble and could tell he was a person that cared about people. >> current rick fuentes released a statement. a family lost an only child and a wife lost a husband and child

lost a father. >> trooper williams was just 31 years old and this coming january would mark his first year of service here with the knowledge state police. reporting live bob brooks, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you bob. philadelphia police have a suspect in custody in the murder of a teenager in may fair. 14-year-old ian willsy was shot and killed last monday night while walking with a friend to the corner store. this happened in the 2900 block of devereux avenue. police say that a 19-year-old man turned himself in this afternoon. they have not said what charges he might face. investigators in philadelphia are trying to figure out what caused an overnight fire that injured five adults and four children in frankford. the two alarm blaze broke out this morning. crews rescued 12 people including a baby and the paws

relief team severals several pets but at least six died. the temple university football community is trying to get its head around the idea of matt rule no longer being the head coach. he left to be the head coach of baylor university. the opportunity to run a power five conference team in the big 12 and really it should come as no surprise. >> not really. a year ago he flirted with the possible of leaving temple and leaves today. matt rule has done wonders for temple's football program. back to back winning seasons. and back to back bowl appearances and it's that success that had baylor knocking on matt rule's door. he leaves at four seasons, he led the team to the first conference championship in 49 years, at baylor he goes to a bigger school and bigger conference but that school has problems. for more than a year baylor is

dealing with a sexual scandal involving football players. matt rule gathered his team to break the news personally. and there are no hard feeling. >> he loves temple and he gives his heart and him making this decision i know it had to be impactful for his life. >> he wanted us to understand we are the reason why this is happening. not because of just him. we did this for him. not like oh guys thank you i'm out. it was like thank you guys this is what you did for me and my family. >> assistant coach, ed foley will coach the team in the bowl game against wake forest and a search for a performnant replacement is underway and baylor will introduce matt rule in a press conference tomorrow. lets go live to "action news" reporter, sara bloomquist, in the heart of the temple campus. obviously temple students cannot be happy about this news.

>> reporter: jim i honestly think they were in shock about it today this was not news they were expected to hear. they were excited about the big conference win looking ahead to a big bowl game and they are sure hoping this does not mean the end of the temple football's recent success. >> sad and disappointment. >> a cold rain fell on temple's campus reflective of the mood when students learn that coach rule is heading to baylor. it came as a shock especially so soon after the win over navy for the conference win. >> was shocked, i thought he would be loyal to us. >> the way this program is heading it's sad. >> it comes out of nowhere, i didn't hear he was leaving and then all of a sudden it's announced he is going to baylor. >> confirmation came on baylor's website and then watched temple afternoon news conference in quiet disbelief.

>> we were in shock and we gathered at lunch and on the channel we wondered where the news was coming from and it was like oh the football coach has left and went to a southern state. >> i was surprised especially to find out he would not coach in the bowl game. so yes i'm disappointed. >> they get it. under rule the owls had 20 wins in two seasons and opportunity came knocking. >> can you be mad at him? come on now, who gives up that opportunity? >> and the coach leaves behind a football program that can be successful in future seasons. >> we hope that all the underclass men can step up and get another good coach in and temple can continue on with what they are doing the past few yours. >> reporter: we did hear confusion and disappoint especially over the fact that matt rule will not be on the sidelines of the upcoming military bowl. but no anger or animosity.

he had a chance to move on ward and upward and he took it. sara bloomquist, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. from our delaware newsroom tonight, four people including two firefighters were injured this morning in a large apartment fire in dover. the flames broke out at 7:15 at the cedar chase apartments on the 1700 block of north dupont highway. fire officials say most of the residents are delaware state university students who reacted quickly. >> i opened the door and all i could see was flames. i peeked my head out to see the walkway and i seen that it was a marginal gap where we could make it out in. that is when we ran down the stairs we could feel the heat and we made it out. >> the fire destroyed 12 apartments and tonight the red cross, is helping 22 people with housing and officials say none of the injuries were serious.

special standing in the rain saying it's not bad because it was a warm rain well it's a cold rain tonight. raining across our viewing area and we do have areas of some steady soaking and this is south jersey right now the garden state parkway notice the red near medford lakes, that is bright banning the radar echo is bouncing off the sleet. we have sleet mixing in with areas farther up to the north and trenton now sleet mying in with the rain there. and heavy moving through new hope and moving farther up to the poconos and that is where the rain is cold enough it's snowing. 2 to 4 inches of snow expected up there. here temperatures above freezing so even where you get the sleet mixing with the rain it's meetings on the roads.

cape may 48 and wilmington 43 and below freezing in the poconos. satellite 6 along with action radar showing this system arriving right on schedule unfortunately causing a lot of problems for the evening commute, it's moving at a pretty good pace show. the back edge is moving through central pennsylvania, we have a couple more hours before things begin to taper off. future tracker showing at 8:30 a steady rain and heavy snow across the poconos and then we head to 11:00, this is when we get the drier air mixing in and a lot of radar is breaking up and tomorrow morning it's not bright and sunny and lots of clouds and? areas of drizzle and steady rain and tomorrow is one of the days that the air is moving in but still low level moisture and clouds and sunshine and temperatures not bad normal high is 48 and we should hit that by 1:00 and 4:00, up to 50 degrees and late in the day a few peeks of sunshine and then we have the

arctic fronts moving through on thursday. behind this, the coldest air of the season so far. friday and saturday, afternoon highs only in the 30s, you factor in the winds gusting up to 35 miles per hour and windchills only in the 20s, and we'll start both days with sunshine and instability clouds bubbling up in the afternoon and the possibility of a few flurries, the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast tomorrow early drizzle and afternoon not bad and peeks of sunshine and thursday the arctic front moves through with lots of clouds and limited sunshine and could get a shower and most areas come through dry and 45 degrees friday and saturday. the heart of the cold air temperatures in the 30s and windchills in the 20s and a flurry or two. and on sunday it clouds up ahead of our system and temperatures 39 degrees and not as windy at friday and saturday. and as the moisture arrives early monday morning and could
