police in south jersey searching for whoever is vandalizing holiday decorations. those stories in a moment, but first, we all knew it was eventually coming. it is here, we're dealing with a cold blast that will stay for a while. >> we're taking a live look here via sky6 live hd in penns landing. if you're heading out this early hour you're going to want to bundle up, temperatures are below freezing. meteorologist chris sowers joins us with a look at the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast. chris you say it's all about christmas. it's got to be cold. >> reporter: it's got to be cold, last year we had the air-conditioning on christmas day, it was so warm, 70 degrees. >> i agree it can't be warm on christmas. i'll give you that one. >> reporter: i'll turn him over -- >> no you won't. let's get you outside, wait until you see what's coming in the seven day. i'll tell you what, it's going to get cold. there's the view sky6 live hd down in cape may. there's a few clouds, blustery

and cold, temperatures in the 20s, windchills, this is the big story right now as jennette mentioned, you need to bundle up in layers. heavier winter coat scarf hat that did the trick. 19 in philadelphia. 19 in allentown. feels like ten lonely degrees in the poconos. 18 in millville. feels like 25 degrees in cape may. satellite and radar along -- action radar, heavy lake-effect snow along lake ontario they picked up two to three feet. for us, sun and clouds today, a quiet start to the weekend overall, breezy and cold, 38 degrees is the forecasted high. it will feel like the upper 20s, low 30s throughout the day because of the wind. blustery and cold weekend is on the way. some snow is expected sunday night into monday morning, another bitter arctic outbreak arrives next week. i'll have the details coming up

ordered that flags fly at half mast to honor frankie williams. services will be held monday at boardwalk hall in atlantic city. two men were shot and wounded on a north philadelphia street, now police are looking for suspects and motives. gunfire broke out on the 3000 block of fontain street at 1:30 a.m. police say when they arrived they found two men with gunshot wounds to their legs. both victims were rushed to area hospitals for treatment and expected to be okay. real life grinches are targeting signs of holiday cheer in one south jersey community. police in evesham township are asking for neighbors to keep an eye out for the thieves and vandals on the prowl. dann cuellar has more. ♪ >> reporter: it's the holiday season and a lot of people put

hammonton, atlantic county. the atco native will serve as grand marshall to the parade that celebrates hammonton's 150th anniversary. it's a decision that caused controversy. the parade begins at bell view avenue and north liberty street and ends at the nj transit railroad tracks. >> santa ditched a sleigh for a fire truck. they watched the christmas tree lighting when the the man in the red suit arrived. the high school bands helped get everyone in the holiday spirit by playing christmas songs. luminaries lined the outside of the historic dover house that was built in 1710. the oldest in camden county. with the fire in the fireplace, actors dressed in period attire and greeted guests. one visitor looked right at home

he confessed to killing nine african-americans at a charleston, south carolina church in 2015. he said he chose the church in part because it's the oldest black church in the south. we're beginning to learn more details about those who want to pay respects to american legend john glenn. the body of space hero and former u.s. senator will be taken to the ohio state house for a public viewing. a memorial service is being planned at the ohio state university. the actual details have not been released. burial will be at arlington national cemetary near washington, glen died thursday near age 95678 he was the first american to orbit the earth in 1962. >> a texas police officer is being praised by the community for his random act ofpatrollingn 11-year-old girl walking to

nice quiet morning around the delaware and the lehigh valleys. the radar is confirming that. we had snow showers and snow squalls develop around here, the quakertown area stretching to doylestown. it wouldn't surprise me if there are slick spots up here. everybody else steered clear of that. be cautious in bucks county. 38 degrees that's the high temperature we're shooting for today, starting out as 26 these are the normals, you can see temperatures are well below average like yesterday and and the day before. 27 in allentown. 20 in the poconos. 26 in millville. the freezing mark of 32 degrees down in cape may. here's satellite and radar along with action radar. again you can see for the most part we're quiet, what's happening here, you get off the front range there's an area of low pressure starting to develop. that's going to ride the polar air it will ride that air mass

everyone, 7:23 saturday morning, we've been talking about the upcoming systems sunday into monday. right now i want to focus on the arctic blast arriving later next week. this is associated with the polar vortex. this is philadelphia right here. the polar vortex will drop in from the north western territories of canada close to alaska. it will do one of these jobs where it rounds the hudson bay, this body of water here. this whole area turns cold. this gets down to the panhandles of florida. ice cold next week. if year lucky we hit 30 degrees. the really cold stuff will be the great lakes, where temperatures will be five to ten below. overnight lows, 25 below zero.

there will be a public viewing on the chase center on the river front that will be followed by a funeral at 1:00 p.m. at the same location. hope was a senior firefighter for the wilmington fire department and mother of three. jerry fickes and christopher leach died as a result of fighting an arson fire in september. three wilmington fire stations will be renamed in honor of the three fallen heros. these workers gave a free shining and washington of fire trucks that will lead the funeral procession. they donated their services to engine number five which will carry firefighter hope's casket. it is their way of saying thank you to all the first responders. pennsauken police vehicle responding to one crash was involved in another one on the way to the scene. the first collision happened when the driver of a minivan

lost control and hit a pole on route 130. the second happened when a responding officer and lexus collided a short time later. there were no serious injuries. new this morning, a man was stabbed after an altercation while waiting on a septa platform in center city. it happened at 150th and -- 15th and market. two men got into an argument one pulled out a knife. one suffered minor injuries, septa police took the suspect into custody. a mural honoring an up and coming hospital -- pop store killed on tour, grimy was a contestant on the show the

in the lehigh valley. 34 for the poconos. they could turn to rain, as well. close to 40 in philadelphia. quick-moving system, by 11:00 a.m. or noon it's long gone. we're left with a combination of sun and clouds during the afternoon on monday, temperatures in the 40s and low 50s. so the northwest suburbs sunday night into monday morning, look for that mixture of rain and snow changing over to rain. there could be a puffy accumulation mainly on grassy surfaces by the time we get into monday morning. i-95 metro area it's a cold rain same thing for south jersey and the state of delaware. accumulations nothing going on in and around the philadelphia area. but, again there could be perhaps one to three inches for the lehigh valley and the poconos. leaning more toward the one rather than the three, again, just a couple of flakes immediately north and west of philadelphia. so sun and clouds, cold today, 38 degrees is the forecasted high. windchills upper 20s, low 30s. partly cloudy and cold overnight tonight. 22 degrees outlying suburbs, 26 for center city.
