>> good afternoon, the big story on "action news" is breaking right now. former congressman chaka fattah has been sentenced to ten years

in prison in his federal corruption case. >> the philadelphia democrat must surrender by january 25 to start serving his time. katherine scott spoke is to fattah and joins us live from center city. >> reporter: rick and sarah, chaka fattah left the courtroom after being sentenced to ten years in prison. he expressed gratitude toward family and friends reiterating that when he addressed the court in sentencing. the proceeding happened inside the courtroom. the courtroom was packed. let's go to video of the former pennsylvania corningman leaving the court -- congressman leaving the courthouse, he was convicted on racketeering conspiracy and money laundrying. the judge said what's so

astonishing the extent and duration of the criminal conduct that he abused the trust placed in him time and time again. he was sentenced to ten years and ordered to pay $600,000 in in restitution. he got below the sentencing guidelines. the lawyer argued it was not a hiccup, but not a moment in time, but moment after moment, decision and after. it erodes the confident the public has. he said fattah showed no remorse. we talked to ten witnesses who spoke about the good the man did over the years. fattah said he has regrets, and grateful for his legal team and

family and helping tens of millions of people. this is what he said when he left court. >> i want to thank all the witnesses who stepped forward and over 200 people who wrote letters to the court on my behave, this is a circumstance in which now the court has made a determination of this phase of the process has come to a conclusion, again, i want to thank my legal team and i want to thank the support of my family. >> he abused his position in congress to benefit himself rather than his constituents and engained -- enengaged in final activity for his own benefit. >> a big presidential recount in pennsylvania has been blocked by the federal judge.

in view of the electronic voting machines. the attorney argued that the machines may have been hacked. the attorney for the trump said it's highly unlikely. the judge recounted the recount bid this morning. >> a new jersey state trooper killed in the line of duty is being laid to rest. trooper frankie williams died last week in a head on crash on route 55. nora muchanic is following the tribute and standing by with the latest, nora. >> reporter: rick, it's a sad day in atlantic city we're in front of boardwalk hall where the wake and funeral are being held this morning from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. it was friends and family, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. it is law enforcement members who are coming through the doors here heading into the room where the casket ask at the front of the hall they are paying their respects to the family. hundreds of new jersey state troopers stood in the rain on

the boardwalk in atlantic city and silently entered boardwalk hall to pay their respects to their fallen brother 31-year-old trooper frankie williams of egg harbor township. >> it's almost inconsolable grief on the part of organization, this is the 4th member we've lost in 18 months him he was on the job 11 months, a model trooper, a model recruit someone cut down in the most productive wonderful time of his life is horrible. >> reporter: williams was killed in a violent head on crash on route 55 in millville while responding to a reports of a car radically driving. that is what crossed the median and hit him head on. >> he meant everything to me, no matter what he always had my back. it's unbelievable the type of

guy he was. >> it's a huge event, but it's to be there for the family first and foremost and be there for the officers, as well. today officers from all over the country along with friends, co-workers and family are remembering frankie williams and wanted to be a trooper his whole life and married his childhood sweetheart in september. >> he was the kind of guy his smile was contagious, he was a good person. >> reporter: back here on the boardwalk you're looking at the monitors on the boardwalk. they have frankie's picture on the monitor. the funeral services are about to start now, cameras are not allowed inside at the request of the family. you can see the pictures of frankie williams and his life. burial services are after the memorial, those are private.

nora muchanic channel 6 "action news." >> a developing story out of northeast philadelphia where a suspect was shot and killed during an attempt to serve a warrant this morning. federal marshalls with the help of philadelphia police were attempting to serve the warrant along the 1300 block of hellerman street. the suspect was wanted for a shooting over the summer. investigators say the suspect pulled a weapon on the agent who was trying to arrest him. the agent fired his own weapon killing the suspect. an "action news" crew is on the scene gathering more information on the story. we'll bring you updates on "action news" at 4:00 p.m. one person has died in a crash on the atlantic city expressway in pleasantville. a honda driver was killed when the vehicle slammed into the back of a new jersey transit bus going westbound at 5:00 a.m. the bus had already dropped off his last passenger, the bus driver was not hurt. state police are trying to figure out what caused the collision. police are questioning several people over a deadly attack on a 17-year-old in west
