jingling at the malice as the shoppers head -- malls, as the shoppers headed out for center saturday. >> meteorologist chris sowers has the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast, it's warm, right? >> reporter: it's mild out there, but now here comes the changes. the winds of change are on the way. actually you can see the rain starting to overspread the area from northeast to southwest. that's a cold front. the air behind this is bitter and arctic in nature. but this front continues to collapse toward the south and east getting very, very close to the philadelphia area. as we show you a closeup view there's norristown, phoenixville, pilots pottstown, reporting light lane, the impacting they highway 322 near honeybrook. temperatures is the big story here, the way the numbers crash. 60 degrees the temperature the last hour. now we're down to 39.

airline or phl.org. the snow caused dozens of accidents even with seasoned drivers. today's packers bears games could be the coldest on record in the nfl. indiana ice sent cars spinning. denver international airport is struggling after 300 flights were canceled yesterday. the airport was supposed to get an inch or two of snow and got close to a foot. despite plowing and de-icing plans went nowhere fast. travels had to re-- travelers had to rebook flights several times. >> investigators are trying to figure out what caused a fatal fire inside a home that was supposed to be vacant. the action cam at the scene, the fire started at 3:30 a.m. and quickly spread to surrounding homes that were also vacant.

when crews searched the home they found the body of a man on the second floor of the house where the fire started. we're told the victim is in his 50s. >> two pets are dead and seven people are looking for a place to stay after a row home and is along orchard street with the latest on this. just heartbreaking story for the family. what are you learning about this? >> reporter: okay, we are learning that no people were injured and several pellets were rescued from the -- pets were rescued from the fire. however, two family pets died in the fire. we know where the firefighters believe the fire began, that home is a total loss and the one next-door is damaged. the quick moving fire broke out on the 4200 block of orchard after 11:00 p.m. samuel heard an explosion as far as a block away. >> big bang, i'm ready to lay down and boom boom boom. >> reporter: crews arrived to

heavy fire smoke 4249 orchard. the man who lives inside was not home, his two pets were, his cat and dog were killed in the blaze. next-door where the fire spread everyone inside got out safely, including the family chihuahuas. >> my grandmother woke us up, she said run, because there's a fire. we were going to grab the dogs, but they were really scared. red paw relief found them a short time later. they had issues fighting the fire because live wires fell in the street. red cross is assisting people forced out of their home. fire crews were grateful no civilians or firefighters were injured. >> it's unfortunate situation when someone's house catches fire during the christmas

period. companies worked hard and made sure everybody got out, we have red cross and peco an police, just a unified effort to make sure we're taking care of the citizens that the fire affected. >> reporter: and back out here live you can see an l -- l l&i sticker saying the home is not safe. couple of days from christmas they have family and friends working to board up the home and take whatever items they can out of the house. annie mccormick channel 6 "action news" back to you. >> an elderly woman and her son safely escaped their burning home in wynnfield overnight. firefighters were called to the 5600 block of windell avenue. there were flames on the second floor. the fire is under investigation. handicapped residents were

stuck on the ground floor of their apartment buildings overnight they couldn't get up to their units because the elevators were broken. the action cam was the scene the fair hills apartments in north philadelphia. william was one of the people stuck, he can't walk up to his 5th floor apartment. he told us the elevators are a continuing nuisance. >> i never hear this is happening at the other building. this is the only buildings it is happening to. >> it took three hours for the housing authority to reach a crew to repair the elevators. he did not get to his apartment until after 6:00 a.m. 538 members of electoral college are meeting in their respective states. they will declare who won the presidential election in their states. donald trump won 306 electoral votes, 36 more than to be the
