walter perez, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. and world news tonight with david muir will have more on the attack in berlin and the search for whoever is responsible. that is coming up tonight at 6:30 after "action news" at 6:00. philadelphia police is trying to piece together what happened to a woman in northeast philadelphia. a passing driver found her clinging to life last night but she died this morning. bob brooks is live at the scene at the 2300 block of north 3rd street. a disturbing discovery. we'll get into the details in a second. first i want to show you the scene here. we are located between two vacant lots one behind me and one next to us here. you see the crime tape on the sidewalk where this woman was found. because of this secluded location there are no witnesses yet. >> a part of town that carries a

grim reputation. >> we used to call it the bad landed. >> in between two vacant lots, a woman, not identified yesterday was found lying in the road and the details of the condition she was found in are frightening. >> the trauma to her head owe so severe, the staff at the hospital is not certain or not if she is shot or other type of head trauma. >> the victim would be pronounced dead at the hospital and along with severe head injuries there is more. >> she has other injuries and bruises to her body. >> a boot from the victim was left behind at the scene. and she is believed to be in her 40s. jeff was home but didn't hear anything. >> did you hear anything like that? >> no, no. >> police are investigating to if what happened here is similar to a crime that happened

northbound. one of our busiest ramps in the afternoon restricted this afternoon because of this police activity partially sticking out into the right lane and extra slow on the eastbound vine because of that. on the big picture a crash in northeast philadelphia at the aldi at prim rose and an accident at 15th and tioga, and we wrapped up an opening at the tacony palmyra bridge. so a burlington bristol bridge is coming soon. and the southbound lanes of 42 are extra heavy because of an earlier crash the landing ride can you see it off the walt whitman bridge. crash along 295 south of mount laurel off to the side but causing slowing there as well. we'll check it again coming up in the next half hour. >> all right matt thanks into next on "action news" work

ft. dix will soon be home to a massive solar energy site. military and energy leaders broke ground on the new project today. crews will install more than 50,000 solar panels on top of the old landfill in burlington county. they are expected to produce enough energy to power 2500 homes. a consumer watch dog group is calling on congress to pass strong irregularlations to keep more of your money in your bank account. the industry group released a report showing that 6126 banks charged a total of $8.4 billion in overdraft fees and that is the first three quarters of this year. and banks with less oversight charged less and that means more oversight is needed. a good tuesday, the dow rising 91.5 points and close to

the police squad showed the results of a three week streep mainly the drug infested kensington match knew neighborhood. they made over 170 arrests in efforts to some how improve the quality of life in this town. $220,000 worth of drugs from heroin to crack to oxycontin were seized. >> it led us to individual houses and corners where we locked in on certain drug dealers and organizations and made arrests when we had enough probable cause to do so. >> we have great community groups kind of trapped in the heroin markets and when they see a big operation like this, they see hope and they need hope down there. >> more than 20 guns were seized many of them high powered weapons like the one seen here.

half and the 40-year-old driver of that truck was not hurt. one lane was closed down while hazmat crews cleared the scene but it was just syrup. and firefighter rushes to the scene on tamborn drive and flames tore through the second floor of that home and damaged the house next door as well. everyone made it out safely here and the red cross is helping the family and no word on what caused this. >> an apartment building in philadelphia's queen village section is without water after a water main break. the 12 inch main broke at 7:00 at columbus boulevard. what caused the sinkhole to open up and an suv eventually got stuck in the hole and had to be pulled out. the southbound lanes we main closed between fitzwater and christian streets. philadelphia lease are

trying to track down the suspect in this surveillance video that they say robbed a center city store at knife point. that it happened at 6:00 at the dunkin' donuts on chestnut street. police say he walked in and pulled a knife and demanded money, the employee handed over $150 but nobody was hurt. police in bucks county say there were four burglaries at bensalem businesses since saturday. they released the pictures of the suspect in action. the suspects got into the business after hours by breaking their glass front doors. we have gotten away with cigarettes and money, if you know who this could be give police a call. >> estimate carriers were recognized for achieving a milestone. the carriers from the tacony station send the 100 million step awards. each of them delivers the mail by foot and walked accident free for more than 30 years, the
