continuous explosion at a fireworks market. the death toll is up to 29, and it could go higher. it is tuesday night and the big story on action news tonight is a giant plume rising on the outskirts of mexico city. a chain reaction explosion ripped through mexico's best known fireworks market causing death and devastation. hundreds of shoppers were in the area stocking up on fireworks for christmas and new year's. but the blast sent shoppers running and reducing vendor stands to piles of rubble. almost unbelievably this was the third explosion in this market since 2005. the president tweeted a message: my condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and my wishes for a quick recovery for the injured. isis has claimed responsibility for yesterday's truck attack in berlin that

6 for continue can coverage of the germany terror attack that's coming up on night line tonight and both the action news morning team and 6abc.com will keep you updated on overnight developments in the man hunt. in our area one person has been killed in a crash in croydon, bucks county. dann cuellar is live on river road between 1 and cedar avenues. dann, what's the situation there? >> reporter: accident and investigators remain on the scene trying to piece together how this horrific accident happened. we are here along river road at cedar avenue. police say a tremendous impact happened between a gmc and a nissan. both vehicles were going in opposite directions on river road when it happened. it's a 25 mile an hour speed zone in a residential neighborhood so obviously at least one of the vehicles was going well above the speed

limit. the impact sent the nissan into a driveway of the home and on to two parked cars. the white suv traveled further and landed upside down. >> it sounded like a bomb. seriously, it sounded like a bomb and we came running out and we seen car parts in the middle of the road here on cedar avenue and we seen the one car in the driveway and the one flipped upside down. we see the guy get out of the vehicle that was flipped upside down and he was walking as if he was okay. we saw the young woman in the vehicle and we couldn't get no response from her. >> reporter: the woman in the nissan sentra was pronounced dead at the scene. her identity not yet being released. again police say it's a 25 mile an hour speed zone so it appears one of the vehicles was speeding which residents say is not that

front of their 12-year-old son. jeannette reyes is live with developments there. jeannette? >> reporter: well, jim, that search wrapped up earlier this evening. it kicked off after jeremiah's monell's estranged wife was found murdered. it intensified after his pickup truck was found not far from where we're standing. it was near railroad tracks and of course it is made difficult for police because this is a heavily wooded and remote area. the search for a murder suspect now goes into day three as police remain tight-lipped about what leads they have, if any. jeremiah monell's pickup truck was found near railroad tracks earlier this afternoon. troops descended upon the remote area, created a perimeter and began an intense search in the air and on the ground. helicopters hovered overhead for several hours while police cruisers kept an eye on the tracks but no luck. with nightfall making it

increasingly difficult to see hardly anything, authorities called off the search. the 32-year-old fugitive is accused of killing his wife in her home yesterday morning. friends say it was in front of their 12-year-old son. he has been charged with murder. and police turned this local fire department into a command center. they left not too long ago. i'm told the search will resume some time tomorrow morning. jeannette reyes, channel 6 action news. >> philadelphia police are trying to unravel a mystery behind a woman's death. she was found on the side of the road in the 2700 block of north third street in north philadelphia last night. the victim suffered severe head trauma and bruising and died at the hospital today. they don't even know her name. she had no identification on her person. the only include right now is a boot left behind at the scene. firefighters were able to bring a blaze under control at

the popular peddler's village in bucks county tonight before anybody got hurt. the blaze broke out at a store called the nut kettle at 6:30. flames were shooting from the building and action news viewer recorded video of the fire. another store is also damaged as well as cars parked out front. investigators have not yet said what sparked the blaze. $226,000 worth of drugs have been taken off the streets in the latest narcotics sweep by philadelphia police. they also made 176 arrests. the raids targeted kensington over a 3-day period last week. that in the wake of an alarming number of opioid overdoses that we've told you about before. police officials showed off the confiscated evidence today and point out that the sweep also netted 21 assault rifles and hand guns. this is the loaded 40

caliber hand gun that tsa officers say that a bucks county man tried to bring on to a plane. it happened at newark liberty international airport yesterday. officers found it in a backpack during an x-ray. the suspect has been charged but not publicly identified. he told tsa that he brought his hunting nap sack with him on the trip and didn't realize the gun was still inside. the two defendants convicted in the bridge gate trial last month say the jury acted improperly and they want a new trial. bridget kelly and allege that some of the jurors disobeyed the judge's orders and deliberated on a day when they were instructed not to. prosecutors will respond to this motion in january. first responders have delivered some holiday cheer across newark, delaware tonight.

the presidential election was made public today. this refers to the e-mails found on anthony weiner's computer. james comey's letter to congress caused a fire storm that some think influenced the outcome of the election. it was revealed today that the fbi was trying to find out if clinton had mishandled classified information, one. and two, whether there was evidence that the computer had been hacked. it turned out the e-mails contained no evidence of wrog-doing by clinton. this is new video just released today. good samaritans rushed to rescue a man trapped inside his burning car. for some reason the driver slid across the freeway and hit a tree on sunday in texas. several motorists saw it happened and immediately pulled over to help. they were able to break over the window and drag the man out of the vehicle. the victim is expected to

survive. federal safety regulators are investigating reports that 1 million fiat-chrysler vehicles can roll away while shifted in park. the vehicles involved include 2013-2016 ram pickups and dodge durango. this is similar to a problem that caused more than a million jeep grand cherokees to be recalled earlier this year. volkswagen has reached a deal to either fix or buy back 80,000 diesel vehicles involved in the company's emissions cheating scandal. the agreement is expected to cost the company $1 billion. volkswagen will give $225 million to an environmental fund to offset the cars' excess pollution. most of america's waters in the arctic ocean and certain sections of the atlantic will be off limits to gas drilling. that under executive action today by president barack obama.
