to the fire here at naaman's road at 8:00 and it caused the garage and upstairs apartment to collapse. they found the remains of a man inside. now to the path of destruction left in the wake of a chaotic crash in the lawn crest section of philadelphia, an out of control tractor trailer hit everything in its path before bursting into flames at a gas station. chad pradelli is live now on oxford avenue where the cleanup continues. >> reporter: that cleanup is a long process, i want to show you behind me there is the tractor trailer. you see it's gutted by fire, the crews out here have had to cut sections of it out. it was stuck on a retaining wall and they finally got it off the retaining wall and trying to get it out of here after this fiery crash earlier this morning. this video shows the roadway on

fire, a tractor trailer burns as well and flames shoot into the air and the fire is a few feet from gas pumps and firefighter as arrive and shut down the pumps and begin hosing down the trailer. it was due to a collision with the shop-rite big rig and this suv. >> i was at work and heard a big boom. i came out and saw the truck on fire. >> christopher rushed out of the neighboring rite-aid and began giving aid to the driver of the suv. >> said can you feel my hand and he said yes, he said he was disney and didn't remember nothing. he said where am i and? and i said are you living you are good. >> and initially they thought the gas pump exploded. >> it was the crashing and then

a bunch of explosions probably three or four like bombs. >> the driver of the big rig was uninjured and retrieving belongings this afternoon. it's still under investigation and names of the drivers are not released. and despite the damage this crash could have injured many more people. >> the in an iffy depot is across the street and the shop-rite is here. this incident could have been a lot worse than what it was. >> reporter: and the driver of that suv was taken to the local hospital and firefighters tell us at last check he was in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries. live in lawn crest, chad pradelli, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. we have breaking news now for you. this is in overbrook montgomery county. philadelphia fire crews on the scene of a high rise fire in overbrook.

it was 5:30 it broke out in the 1100 block of north 53rd street. you see smoke coming from the top floors of it earlier and if you look to the left you see the emergency vehicles with chopper 6 hd, and the 12 story high rise and so far no reports injuries and again a fire in a high rise in overbrook it happened about a half hour ago. and back to mt. airy where they had a deadly shooting and crash. a 33-year-old was shot in the head. walter perez is live. >> reporter: the search is on for a woman in the passenger seat of that suv that witnesses say ran from the scene after the crash. lets listen to video from earlier on today. this is happened at 12:30 this afternoon. witnesses say the driver of the ford expedition lost control and

careened over a curb and went airborne and landed on the subaru there. and a woman from the passenger seat of the suv climbed out of wreckage and took off on foot. the search for her continues at this hour and police would like to speak to her because after they arrived they found the suv driver suffer aid bullet wound to the temple and pronounced dead at the scene and the driver of a subaru is a professor at a local university and on his way to work at the time. any information about this case is asked to call police. >> reporting live from west mt. airy, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. new clues tonight in the search for a missing 71-year-old woman and her 5-year-old great granddaughter from south jersey. family members have still not heard from those two since christmas eve. but word came today that they may have been spotted in virginia this morning. bob brooks has the story from mays landing.

>> for this family in south jersey every passing moment their fears grow worse and worse, two family members, 71-year-old barbara and her great granddaughter, lameyer were missing since christmas eve. they left to see family in north carolina. >> i was at work. you know christmas eve and i got the phone call from my mom talking about you know we can't find your grandma or the baby. >> barbara is his grandma lamire is his daughter. and as you can imagine he is struggling now. >> trying so hard not to cry. >> he has no idea what happened. his uncle spoke to his grandma on the phone and said she was lost and now trying to remain hopeful. maybe went towards the mountains and she is stuck and car broke down and can't get there.

university hospital with unknown injuries. on a better note the temple owls are squaring off against the demon deacons of wake forest and sara bloomquist is live in north philadelphia where the temple alumni association gathered to watch the game. >> reporter: monica temple fans here showing some signs of life now, just like the temple owls, they have come out of the gate at the second half wa the touch down and nice interception and these fans are hoping to see more of that. a nice crowd is gathered at this off campus watering hole and alum and employees gathered to watch the game and holding out hope that temple can make history in the military bowl. if they win it will be the best season if the program's history and we spoke to these fans about the owls performance at this point and got some of their thoughts about this great season --

>> it's stuff we lost our coach the last month of the season. so really counting on the seniors to be the leaders and they are coming out flat and letting off 31 points in the first half. >> no matter the outcome of the game it has been a fun run. >> it was the past few years under matt rhule and we are excited about the if you coach coming in. he seems like a great guy. temple has had two winning seasons in a row is huge. >> the fans here are holding out hope that the owls can make a come back here in the second half of the game. they are looking better, wake forest 31 and temple 20 create now in the third quarter, temple has had really a remarkable season and memorable season and fans here hoping it will be more memorable if they can make history and win tonight. live in north philadelphia, sara

heart attack on a los angeles bound plane, actress and author carrie fisher is dead. she was 60. the daughter of hollywood royalty, debbie reynolds and eddie fisher but made a make in her own right in the star wars films and turned her addiction and mental illness into books. dann cuellar is live now with more from her fans. >> monica she was admired by both young and old and her character as princess leia transcending from one generation to another. tonight there is sadness among her fans. >> princess leia died today? >> she did? >> yes. >> that is really sad. >> the initial reaction is shock and disbelief, that carrie fisher had actually died. that is pretty intense.

region we have an area of mostly clear skies that heads our way. it's star lit tonight and a bit a breeze and dropping down to 30 in the suburbs and 35 in philadelphia for the low. the northwesterly wind and physical feel and be much cooler tomorrow. for the second half of our work week high pressure is in control and partly sunny and cooler and 44 for a high and then into thursday, we are tracking an area of low pressure coming up from the south and working its way eastward than will produce mixed precipitation across our region, thursday 9:00 in the morning, rain along the 95 corridor and areas to the south and east. for berks and lehigh counties, and we could find an area of quick snow before the change over to rain. by morning we are already starting to furn over, and 4:30 in the afternoon left over showers overhead.
