zooming in on double scan live radar along i-95, it is picking up snow and a lot of this is virga, evaporating before it reaches the surface but an indication that our atmosphere is beginning to get saturated and only a couple of hours before the snow starts to arrive. so the winter weather advisory is posted from 8:00 tonight until 6:00 tomorrow morning essentially from the pennsylvania turnpike areas on south this is before we expect the steadiest snow to be moving in as we head through tonight and the early morning hours. temperatures show you that it's certainly cold enough for snow. 38 in philadelphia and temperatures drop rapidly as the snow moves in. everybody wants to know when the snow moves in. >> just a few of us in the midnight shift have to deal with the steadiest snow on the roadways, beginning 6:00 to 8:00

the snow falls west to east. between 10:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m. the steadiest snow is falling and the crews can get a handle on the roadways with the majority of the cars off the roads and in between 4:00 and 6:00 the snow is ending from the west to the east. and again just cleanup during the morning rush hour for the side roads as well as the sidewalks and of course your car and driveways. overnight snowfall for philadelphia you see all the four different models, the projection is 1 to 2 inches for philadelphia and that is the case for most of the area picking up 1 to 2 inches with pockets of 3, in and around the heart of the delaware valley. morning rush breaks of sun, if it breaks out there will be intense sun glare refracturing off the fresh snow and look for residual slick spots. 29 at 8:00 in the morning and with the road impans minor on

coming up the eastern seaboard. there is limited moisture with it. as you look at the radar here, there is that energy, snow in pittsburgh at state college is trying to break out a couple of pl flurries north and west and it develops an ocean storm too far to really impact our area as that heads out to sea. as you take a look at the impacts here as you travel around, low impacts through the 8:00 hour up to 8:00 for the majority of us, it's between 11:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m. that is when we'll see the steadiest snow falling and then it tapers off so by the time the morning commute comes around and the snow is not falling anymore just trying to clean up the sidewalks and side roads and then beyond the storm temperatures are only in the 20s over the weekend as another shot at snow comes from the coastal communities on saturday. and then on that seven day,

rush hour and another system we are tracking and lots to go over. as we look at stormtracker 6 live double scan the first few flakes are falling south of philadelphia and again it's a flake or two here or there. nothing too steady or heavy at this point. thankfully getting through the evening rush without any major problems or even minor problems, here you see down to the south the radar is filling in and a lot of it is up in the clouds and a flake or two here or there. starting to hit the ground in delaware and southern new jersey and it will take another hour or two or three after you fill the radar in. temperatures plenty cold. so again it's all snow and every flake that falls will stick if the surface is not treated. millville and below it in wilmington the number comes down a bit because of the precipitation trying to fall and it dropped the number called evaporational cooling and 31 in allentown and cape may 36

degrees, we look to the west energy is rolling through the atmosphere and as it passes by tonight for several hours we get steady snow as quickly as it comes in it exits well before the morning rush tomorrow. as we look at future tracker 6 at 11:00 still broken in nature so the south and far to the northern but the steadier snow in western and southeastern parts of pennsylvania near the purpose took itself. but really midnight, at 1:00, 2:00 a.m. we see the bulk of the moderate snowfall moving through but again just after 3:00, 4:00 in the morning it's heading out to sea here and to the north and west you are starting to break the clouds apart before the sunsets and for the lehigh valley and burkes county and lancaster county and by 8:00, 9:00 we could be dealing with more of sun glare glistening off the fresh snow rather than dealing with heavy amounts of snow on the ground and what to

snow of the season and penndot is getting ready brining i-95 in northeast philadelphia and the schuylkill expressway in center city. in new jersey they were loading the salt trucks at the department of public works facility in lyndonwald and this was the scene today on 95 in newport delaware as big trucks were putting down brine solution there. we have all the bases covered tonight.
