>> reporter: witnesses in shock describing a shooting rampage inside the baggage claim area at terminal two calling it a scene right out of a movie. >> he looked again and we saw him with the gun going up and down. >> reporter: the first reports of shots fired appear to come in from police already at the airport. >> multiple victims down. >> reporter: one of the victims bloodied. >> the ing tiff shooter shot at least 13 people. eight people are in area hospitals being treated. >> reporter: this as hundreds of passengers confused and scared are seen running onto the tarmac as ambulances raced by and numerous law enforcement officers intact cal gear rushed to the scene quickly taking the suspect into custody. >> once he was done with the ammunition he basically threw the gun on the ground and laid on the ground face down spread eagle so he was already down. he was waiting for the officer to approach him. >> reporter: sources say the suspect has been identified as

esteban santiago. authorities say they are talking to him right now to figure out a motive. elizabeth hur abc news new york. >> elizabeth thank you. as we see in every active scenario witnesses and survivors live through the lens and share their firsthand accounts on social media. today in this harrowing scary and very active scene in fort lauderdale that was certainly the case. we start with a picture that tells the story here from maxwell solutions. he posted this is on twitter writing this guy right here as you can see is bleeding profusely speaking to the fact also that others have been shot at the airport, very hard to live through the lens with maxwell. sterling rogers posting this video where you can see passengers evacuated walking away from what is being called a code red situation. on all platforms of social media people doing the same sharing their firsthand account. g messina on instagram today sharing this video where you

can see crowds of people trying to get to safety and of course all kinds of people on their phone trying to get information trying to let family members know that they are okay. someone else on instagram who goes by the handle prent eye showed this picture a crowd of passengers on the tam mack saying i am safe. i feel incredibly fortunate. what a crazy thing for those who survive this. certainly a very harrowing situation as it unfolded. tell len berg posted this video on instagram showing another angle of the terminal terminal two of fort lauderdale. crowds of people trying to get into a safe place there at the airport. and then finally this picture was taken by steven folk on twitter he writes everyone evacuated from a neighboring plane after a reported shooting in baggage. some people on other planes are watching through the window as all of this unfolds there at the airport. a deadly scene. monica. >> thank you will so much alicia.

"action news" of course will have continuing coverage on the breaking news for you throughout the evening including a live report with reaction from philadelphia international airport. that's coming up at 5:00 p.m. >> ♪ >> we've got more breaking news this afternoon and word that a newly declassified report released literally seconds ago has found in russian president vladimir putin directly ordered the effort to influence the u.s. election. and that comes on the very same day that president-elect donald trump had his highly anticipated meeting with intelligence officials. the hezbollah of the cia fbi director of national intelligence all arrived at trump tower in new york this afternoon to brief mr. trump on russian interference in last year's elect. they told lawmakers yesterday that there was no doubt that russia was behind the hacking of democratic party e-mails in an attempt to influence the election. that's a finding that mr. trump has repeatedly criticized and cast doubt on. today he called that probe a "witch hunt. following the meeting today

the president-elect released a statement calling it "constructive" but he then added that the hacking had absolutely no effect on the outcome of the election. that's an assertion intelligence officials say they have not made. >> turning now our wintry weather we woke up to snow this morning and there's more headed our way. don't put that ice scraper or snow shovel away just yet. parts of our area are getting ready for another round of snow this weekend. meteorologist adam joseph at the big board with the latest for from us accuweather. hi, adam. >> this will be a more sizable snowstorm than what we went through for some of us over the beginning of the week. you can see all the moisture coming in out of the gulf of mexico. one tree and icy conditions in parts of jackson and mississippi as well as southern parts of louisiana and all this aiming to the north and east. we will get a glancing blow by this storm especially for the shore communities with winter storm warnings in effect from 3 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on saturday all those areas in that hot pink and then an advisory almost up to philadelphia northern parts of

delaware where there will be a little bit of accumulation of snow as well. future tracker showing all this heads up the eastern seaboard to the midatlantic and southern new england early saturday morning this is 11 o'clock and you can see it does puncture just to the north and west of i-95 but the heaviest along the shore. lighter amounts as you go to the north and west. in fact, it will be a crippling snowstorm for parts of the carolinas the border of virginia, over 12-inches of snow and again for us, it is just al scrape when you take a look at how much snow is going to fall to our south. so, this all begins with glancing nor'easter between 4:00 a.m., 7:00 a.m. saturday morning. it ends between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. saturday afternoon. the heaviest south and east of i-95 right along the shore and this snow will be much like last night, that light and fluffy snow that is easy to remove but we're talking about several inches for many of us. wool talk about the snow totals in that map coming up brian in the full accuweather forecast. >> see you shortly adam. thank you.

police want you to see. if you know who she is call them immediately. she's wanted for stealing from senior citizens twice inside the devon acme. her mo the same. the detective takes us through the first crime on december 10. >> she's putting her neck in her scarf and tilting her head downward. >> reporter: she wears a dark coat a scarf and sunglasses. mcfadden says it all looks suspect pushes. >> large scarf sunglasses 8 o'clock in the morning no shopping cart. >> reporter: once in the store she finds her victim. >> looks around watches her. >> reporter: this time it's the senior citizen in the upper left-hand corner. >> if this clip you'll see the victim shopping and the actor actually stalking the victim in the aisle. >> reporter: when the victim's back is turned the thief walks by and takes her purse from the cart. then she brazenly walks to the next aisle just a few feet away and takes the cash. a good picture of her is

caught on camera as she leaves the store. on december 14th, she's at it again she stalks her victim the same way this time it's in the produce section. the woman turns her back to pick something out and she strikes. this time on her way out, the suspect stops to ditch the stolen purse in an aisle. >> what you'll see is you'll see her throw the wallet right there. >> reporter: she walks out of the store but not before being caught on camera again. now both times $400 cash was stolen and both times the purses were left unattended in there cart. reporting live at the devon acme bob brooks channel6 "action news." monica. >> thank you bob. the case of a 28-year-old paraplegic shot and killed by wilmington police will not lead to any federal civil rights charges for wilmington corporals opened fire on jeremy mcdole in his wheelchair back in september 2015 responding to a 911 call about mcdole

possibly being armed with a gun. other witnesses plus enhanced cell phone video confirm mcdole continued to reach for something in his waist band despite orders to show his hands. after he was shot police did find a gun in his waist band. the justice department ruled there's nothing to disprove that the corporals acted in self-defense. a new jersey transit bus was involved in a crash this morning in burlington county. chopper6 overhead as the bus an pickup involved were both loaded onto tow trucks. the vehicles collided at the intersection of route 38 and pine street in mount holly. "action news" is told there are injuries. we don't know how severe they are. first responders diverted traffic to a parking lot until they could get that scene cleared. >> on that note it is time for a first check of the "action news" traffic report today. >> let's take it live to matt pelman over in the "action news" traffic center. hi, matt. >> good afternoon brian and monica. a couple slick spots on this friday afternoon and a couple accidents like one here on the

schuylkill expressway. this is eastbound right by the exit for gulf mills. looks like four vehicles involved, one right into the next. it's taking out the left lane as you come eastbound out of king of prussia. therefore, as you come eastbound out of king of prussia, you're not moving very quickly whatsoever. standstill coming off of 202 and 422 getting onto the schuylkill eastbound through this point at gulph mills. we'll keep tabs on that. on the big picture farther east 23 miles per hour on 76 there by girard avenue. some typical slowing developing along 95. northbound side by the ben franklin bridge just 21 miles per hour. have a crash involving a pedestrian that we're watching in lansdowne this afternoon. that's at highland and lacrosse. and right by ridley park united methodist church we're watching an accident along dupont street at swarthmore avenue. 43 miles per hour along 95 southbound had an earlier crash there in delco around chichester. luckily that is cleared out of the way but there's one involving some vehicles in east coventry along welsh road

even becoming president. the obamas leave the white house in two weeks. >> meanwhile president obama is ending his term with america at a low 4.7 percent unemployment rate. it's a big improvement since the unemployment rate peaked at 10 percent in october of 2009. the new report shows 156,000 jobs were added in december, that is slightly below average for the year. in total the economy added over 11 million jobs during president obama's tenure. wall street liked that news today. the dow up 64.5 points today. the s & p 500 also up just about eight-point on the day. >> a slump in sales at apple leading to a cut in the ceo's paycheck. the company announced today tim cook will make 15 percent less than last year. shrinking iphone sales in 2016 caused app foal suffer its first annual revenue decline in 15 years. apple's board says it's holding cook and other leaders

accountable. that being said he will still be making millions of dollars. a year ahead of schedule new york city subway system is making big changes to help riders stay connected to folks above ground. nearly all subway stations will have cell service. beginning monday commuters will be able to text or call from underground subway platforms. the only platforms without cell coverage are at four stations that are undergoing renovations. >> it was really a pretty sight this morning. >> gorgeous. >> blanket of snow across the area. looks like we may get more of that white stuff tomorrow. >> here is adam joseph with the latest. >> it's all about location. south and east you so most of the snow saturday. the farther north and west towards the lehigh valley probably not even a flake will fall for some of us. sky6 right now shows there's a few breaks in the cloud cover. the clouds have temp tearily that you would out just a little bit but those clouds will be on the increase and thickening up once again overnight tonight.

a cold day. we only hit so far 32 degrees for a high in philadelphia, 31 millville. 20's to the north and west. 31 in dover and along the shore temps around 33 degrees. as you look to the south you could see a lot of moisture. this train of rain sleet and snow and freezing rain from the midatlantic all the way down the gulf coast states so there's a lot of moisture with this second round as opposed to last night's where there was barely any moisture. as we take a look at temperatures for tonight teens in the northwestern suburbs, 20's for the rest of us. as those clouds thicken up and snow will arrive from the south very late in the wee hours of the morning maybe around 4 o'clock. in fact, we look at future tracker at 4:00 a.m. and you can see the first flakes falling wildwood sussex county in delaware. then it kind of pivots to the north into wilmington on the brink of philadelphia around 8 o'clock in the morning so many of us in central and southern new jersey and delaware seeing that snow throughout the morning hours, continuing into the early afternoon.

we'll make it... it will make it into philadelphia and southern parts of chester county and bucks county way little white snow. farther north of the pennsylvania turnpike probably just clouds tomorrow and by 6 o'clock that storm pull asway and maybe even a return of some breaks of sun especially the farther north and west you are tomorrow afternoon. so, what we're looking at for expected snow the heaviest amounts will be right along the coast southern new jersey, delaware, three to 6 inches including southern kent sussex county, cape may county southern parts of cumberland county and burke one to 3 inches for the majority areas in central new jersey and northern parts of delawarely. philadelphia we're right around that inch mark, inch and a half maybe and then just a coating to maybe an inch once you head north and west of philadelphia and then again north of the turnpike really nothing to speak of. then wind chills, they're also a going to be factor. even if you don't see the snow. feels like 14 tomorrow afternoon in allentown, 12 philadelphia, nine in millville. as we get into sunday morning,

wind chills only at one below in reading, five in philadelphia, one in millville so some bitter air comes in with this storm and behind it. as we take a look at the four day at 4:00 forecast here, tomorrow snow along i-95 to the south and east. again, the heaviest along the shore. that fluffy snow which they could see up to 6-inches again right along the beaches and the shore towns, 29. windy bitter cold, 28 wind chills in the single digits much of sunday. sunny but still cold monday of 29 and then a warm front arrives with a lot of clouds tuesday. we move it up 10 degrees to 39 degrees and when you take a look at that seven-day forecast, if you want it warm you are going to get it this week. we'll talk about a january thaw so to speak in that seven-day. >> there you go. >> melt that snow. >> uh-huh. >> adam thanks. >> thank you. next on "action news" a local nonprofit is in dire need of volunteers. we'll explain how you can help make a big difference this glinted plus we are back live at the scene of this water main break that flooded several homes in northeast

projects under way in the new castle county area, homes that could be delayed because of a lack of volunteers. well, habitat says that delay the process of getting those families into those safe and affordable homes. this is a look at the walnut ridge site currently under construction in wilmington. they say it's hard to get volunteers during the cold months but they want you to know there is work to be done inside, too. >> maybe they have a perception they're just going to be working outside but, you know, there's lots of inside work on these houses. lots of things to finish up, painting, hardwood flooring and as you can see we're getting real close to finishing these houses and we need that extra support to really, you know, get us to the finish line. >> the families who move into the homes do have to contribute 225 hours of what they call sweat equity before they can move in so they'll be volunteering on their own homes but it also takes about another 3400 hours worth of

taff. >> ♪ >> it is 4:30 now. sharrie is off today. monica malpass joins us and we begin now with the latest on that breaking news out of fort lauderdale, florida where several people were shot at the airport. five of them have been confirmed dead. >> the gunman has now been identified as esteban santiago. he was identified through a military i.d. that he was carrying. abc news has also just learned he was recently honorably discharged from the army national guard and last stationed in alaska. as you heard five people were killed eight others shot and they remain hospitalized. the attack sent panicked passengers running onto the tarmac. this happened inside terminal c at fort lauderdale airport which does serve delta airlines and air canada. >> one witness described the scene. he said the gunman said nothing as he went up and down the carousel to that baggage claim shooting through luggage to get at people that were hiding. then it's reported the gunman

double scan winter storm warnings in effect through the virginias, carolinas down to atlanta georgian also in fact there are now blizzard warnings the eastern part of virginia near virginia beach, so this will become a big sizable storm for parts of the midatlantic and southern new england and you can see the stream of moisture coming in off of the gulf of mexico adding rain mixed with sleet, freezing rain and snow even as far south of parts of louisiana right now and again all that moving to the north and east. so, here is what to expect where you are and the timing of when it will snow. lehigh valley, i-78 corridor, no snow expected on saturday. this is mainly a jersey and also delaware storm. but parts of i-95 around philadelphia, wilmington, up to trenton, between 7:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. you can expect snow to fall but the heaviest snow will be in central delaware and southeastern new jersey for a longer period of

time between 4:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and if you are going to be driving around areas south and east of philadelphia through southern and central new jersey and again delaware, very low impact early in the morning at 6:00 a.m. but it really starts to pick up between 9:00 a.m. and noon. that's probably the period you don't want to be traveling around central southern new jersey, delaware. then it starts to improve as we go between the 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. hour. we'll talk about how much we are expecting in those areas that get clipped by this coastal storm and also we'll talk about some bitter cold to follow and then a big warmup. we'll talk about all those changes with the seven day guys coming up in a bit. >> adam thank you. stay with 6abc.com/weather right through the weekend for snow updates and much more. check in early and often with storm tracker6 live and stay connected to our team of meteorologists on facebook and twitter. >> a water main break damaged the homes of several folks on one northeast philadelphia block. tons of water just came pouring into their houses when a 16-inch main broke yesterday

"action news" reporter gray hall live on mill brook road with the very latest. hi, gray. >> reporter: hi, monica. well, the good news is that rupture has been repaired. the swat bac water is back o on. the bad news is the haven't not clear and this caused a whole lot of damage. >> looked out the window and my drive way was full of water and it ran that way for three hoursism 84-year-old marion and her husband have lived in this northeast philadelphia home for 60 years. it is their first and only home. the couple has never experienced anything like what happened thursday afternoon a water main break sent gallons of water rushing through the streets and into several homes along mill brook road. the out of control water left behind damage. she says most of the items that were damaged were not pricey but sentimental. >> replaceable but we're sorry

to see it go. >> this is basically where your water line is at. so what's that, like two and a half feet. >> reporter: kirk is surveying the damage left behind that his mother's home. he's in the 80's is that sick in the hospital. he's frustrated she has to return to deal with this watery nightmare. >> into the house, the dryers, the heaters, the sub floor, the paneling behind the walls, the electrical. now the biggest thing is mold. >> reporter: crews are still investigating what caused the rupture but many in this neighborhood speculate it was the result of a sinkhole back in may that was never repaired. the city says it cannot confirm that connection as residents clean up the mess they say they want some answers an fix to ensure this does not happen again. >> may tenth somebody called because it was a sinkhole and you know the rest of the story. they put cones around it. then they come out and plated it and this happens so we're all angry. >> reporter: so back out lie those residents still looking

for some answers and upset by this. we can tell you that the investigation continues tonight and as for those residents with property damage, the water department says that they can call its claims department for assistance. live in northeast philadelphia, gray hall channel6 "action news." brian. >> gray, thank you. a truck driver overturned his rig early this morning on the wet roads in center city philadelphia. this the scene on the 1500 block of arch street at about 5 o'clock this morning. the driver was trapped for some time. no word on their injuries. the crash and cleanup did cause some delays in the area. >> a woman in spring garden was robbed as she was walking to her vehicle in a parking lot. police released images of the suspect seen on surveillance video. it happened on december 29th in the 1300 block of mount vernon street. the woman said she saw the men coming up to her. she started to run when the suspects caught up with her they took her purse which had her wallet iphone and some cash in it. if you recognize the men in the video please you're asked to call police.

police in wilmington hoping to identify a man who stole a wallet off of a customer in walgreens. it happened today at that store at 1313 north union street. officials say the suspect took the woman's wallet when she was distracted. the man was last seen driving a car that you see right there and it is a light colored sedan. anyone with information is asked to call wilmington police. >> the three candidates vying to lead the christina school district are being put to the test. samuel golder richard greg are all finalists to become the next superintendent. they are visiting different schools throughout the district all three of them will answer questions during a public forum next week. on thursday, the board of education will interview all three candidates before ultimately deciding who among them to hire. well, this is a must listen for any june made a new year's resolution to lose weight. one local man says he lost 40 pounds after changing just one thing. there with that sunshine, the snow melting a little bit, kind of glistening with some of that sunshine but clouds will be thickening up south to the north. only 15 in lancaster how it feels, 16 reading, seven poconos, 22 philadelphia millville and in atlantic city right now it feels like 25 degrees. our eyes are to the south. yesterday's system came from the west. so with this coming from the south picking moisture from the gulf of mexico, tapping into the atlantic so this storm definitely a lot stronger than the last one and again, like the last one, it is just going to clip us as it passes to our north and east. as we look at the forecast for tonight, again those clouds thicken up from south to north. snow showers will start to develop very south late in the wee hours of the morning 3 a.m., 4:00 a.m., 18 in the suburbs for the air temperature 23 degrees for center city and future tracker showing 4 o'clock in the morning, it is cloudy across most of the area. it's very tip of cape may county sussex county the first

flakes fall. then lifts to the north as the coastal system really starts to ramp up to our south, even a few light snow showers along i-95 by 8 o'clock or so saturday morning. heavy bands of snow developing east of philadelphia near millville, atlantic city, wildwood and dover. that's where the heaviest is going to fall. 1 o'clock in the afternoon still snowing along i-95 to the south and east. some of this to the north and west could evaporate before hitting the ground. bumping into very dry air there's going to be a very sharp cutoff to where it's snowing to where it's not north and west of philadelphia and then by 5 o'clock in the afternoon, the snow starts to break apart and moves to the east. so, what to expect. wilmington philadelphia trenton right around an inch or so of snow expected here tomorrow. just a coating to those northwestern suburbs up to the pennsylvania turnpike. nothing north of there. one to 3 inches for most of central new jersey, northern delaware. then southern delaware and the coastal communities up to millville there could be three to 6 inches of snow in that fluffy nature also right on
