getting hit the hardest. nor'easter has made its way to philadelphia. chris will tell you when the snow will stop. a live look from mobile 6 showing you just how much snow has fallen on the roads in cape may, new jersey. this morning we have team coverage of the nor'easter, meteorologist chris sowers is tracking the storm's path. bob brooks is down the shore, we begin with chris. >> reporter: good morning be to you, gray, the snow started around 4:00 a.m. for the jersey shore. it continues to expand north and west over the last couple of hours. some locations have two inches on the ground. berkeley township two inches and it is snowing moderately. waretown, 1.5. galloway, an inch and a half. i was talking to my wife who said there's a half inch on the ground in williamstown area. the snow continues to pile up,

as they say. it's a sea of white south jersey, delaware bay, delaware, this is a half inch snowfall rate. if you're not a snow lover this is staying offshore, this purple shade right here, 2 to 3 inches an hour. that band will pull east. they are getting clobbered in the virginias and the carolinas where they are expecting a foot of snow if not more. the virginia capes in that ballpark, as well. when you look at the bigger picture and how much snow is falling, we can handle 3 inches in the city of philadelphia. when it will snow. well it is snowing everywhere. it will continue to snow in the lehigh valley and theism-78 corridor until 2:00 p.m. for the i-95 metro area now

through 4:00 p.m. and delaware and southern new jersey now through 4:00 p.m. national weather service issued a statement right through lunchtime moderate will continue to fall with snowfall rates up to one inch an hour, lousy visibility and the winds will pick up, as well, that will produce drifting of the light, fluffy snow. when i come back we'll have snowfall totals for your neighborhood and milder weather believe it or not. in the accuweather update. snow has coated the boardwalk in atlantic city him visibility was down to less than two miles because of the snow. bob brooks is along the jersey shore, ocean city, cape may county. bob, what are conditions like where you are? >> reporter: gray, this is as much as we've seen all morning

in terms of coming down, it's coming down the quickest and the most, the snowflakes are getting bigger and thicker. we're seeing it lay and collect on the ground as opposed to the this morning where it was colder out. the snow was thinner and powdery. gray you were talking about visibility, we're losing it in ocean city. you can tell you see people shoveling their sidewalks, it's starting to collect and the winds are starting to pick up. we're having more snow and it is tough to start -- to get a visual down that way, balls we're seeing so much. we are at the wawa on west avenue, crews are busy at work, they have been plowing bring the camera a little bit further this way. you can see it's starting to collect there. and people are having to shovel it out, from what we've seen this morning, it is getting wowrs worse and worse as we continue to hang out in ocean city. gray, back to you.

gun and surrendered to police without a struggle. fbi said he approached them in alaska last september. >> he was taken into custody by the local police and transported to a mental health facility for valuation. >> reporter: his aunt in new jersey said he had issues when he returned from iraq. investigators are trying to figure out why he traveled to florida anne looking into his military -- and looking into his military records and social media posts as they try to find a motive. authorities say there is no known threat to philadelphia international airport. there's been a boost in police presence, a direct response to the fort lauderdale shooting. philadelphia police tell "action news" there are increased patrols at the arrival road, departure road and ticketing and baggage claim. the extra officers and protection dogs are precautioner

passenger safety. it is now 9 a.m. a fire damaged the spca on ridge pike in white marsh township. the fire started not long after a worker arrived for a shift. >> she went to check where the fire alarm was coming and she notified 911 and started the evacuation process of the animals. >> good to hear, the animals will be okay. teb dogs and 15 -- 10 dogs and 15 cats were relocated to the spca in perkiomenville and abington. the worker is okay. the extent of the damage is being determined. new information to tell you about this morning, a man was shot at least seven times. it happened in north philadelphia. he did not survive the injuries.

at 8:00 a.m. governor urges people not to drive unless they have a is a lot of health or business reason to do so. heed the warning in delaware. meteorologist chris sowers has been tracking the system all morning long, how much are we talking in delaware. >> reporter: they are in an area where they are picking up a band of close to two inches an hour. we're not expecting that to move into the city, it will brush the coast and push out to sea. if you're in sussex county or cape may county, conditions will deteriorate over the next hour or two. mobile 6 you can see the roads are covered. a lot of slick spots out there, we're down the jersey shore one of the locations expecting the most snow from the system. it's a coastal storm. this time around it's not going to be the far northwestern suburbs it's going to be the jersey shore. there's double scan live. we'll make a couple of zooms for you, just about everybody you're seeing a little bit of notice at

this point. it begins to pick up in intensity, the farther south and east you go. if you look farther toward the right there, you see that purple that's the two inch an hour that's working out to sea. fortunately that's not moving into our neck of the woods. one stop will take us into cam and gloucester counties in south jersey. steadier snow is falling in turnersville, williams, town, moderate snow, half inch on the ground. glassboro seeing moderate snow. another zoom would take us farther off to the southwest into salem and western portions of cumberland county. same thing, moderate snow coming down, the roads are covered. bridgeton to salem to fort penitentiary, route 40 into malaga and buena. we'll see this through the first part of the afternoon. our fog report kind of shows you where the snow is reaching the ground. it's pretty much not up in through here, but everybody else

seeing at least a little bit of snow flying at this point. we're down to 1 1/2 in philadelphia. a half mile in millville. .3 for both wildwood and atlantic city. double scan live we set it in motion, believe it or not this is a glancing below when you look at the overall bigger picture they are getting walloped in the virginia capes carolinas in a, that area will see ten inches of snow or more. that heavy snow line is sussex, cape may, southeastern atlantic county. those areas will see moderate to heavy snow from the event. future tracker 6 we'll stop the clock at 11:00 a.m., it's snowing in philadelphia, points south there will be snow flying up here as well the model is not picking up. it will continue until 1:00 p.m. darker shades of purple, moderate to heavy snow. 4:00 p.m. it's snowing all areas east of philadelphia and lower and bucks county, as well.

southeastern chester and delaware counties. as we continue to set this in motion, the storm moves along, everything starts to clear out later this evening, after sunset it will be at that point the numbers start to fall off a cliff, windchills close to zero. this is very, very cold tonight. when it will snow? now through 2:00 p.m. i-78 corridor. the metro area is snowing through 4:00 p.m. delaware, jersey shore through 4:00 p.m. this afternoon. that's the timeline when you expect to see the snow. snowfall totals, looks like the three inch line we've pushed it close to the city of philadelphia running parallel to the delaware river. one to 3 north and west, bucks, montgomery, chester, delaware counties and northern new castle county in delaware, coating to an inch for the lehigh valley, 6 inches plus for the jersey shore, woodbine, ocean city, atlantic city and wildwood. 3 to 6 heart of south jersey,

everybody, 9:26, 22 degrees out there. sky6 live hd giving you this live look over wilmington, delaware where the snow is coming down there. in the state of delaware, the governor issued a state of emergency there urging folks to stay off the road unless they have to go out. meteorologist chris sowers will have an update on the winter weather system in just a bit. states like georgia and virginia are under a state of emergency because of the weather. this is richmond virginia early this morning, the highway is blanketed with snow there. hardly anyone went out driving because of the weather. the snowstorm is causing airline cancellations and power outages for folks in north carolina him raleigh durham international airport worked through the night to clear the runways. most airlines canceled flights through mid morning. the winter weather is creating dangerous conditions on the roads. all right, so if you're not sure how to spend your time in

accuweather forecast, hi chris. >> reporter: good morning to you, gray, the snow continues to fall, the advisories and warnings continue across the region until 6:00 p.m. the winter weather advisory for the i-95 corridor for difficult travel conditions as the snow mores in. wilmington, media, glassboro, mount holly in the advisory area. where you see the pinkish color that's the winters storm warning for eastern portions of south jersey and the jersey shore and central and southern delaware we're expecting a significance accumulation from the storm when all is said and done. for that we'll go over to storm tracker 6 live. we're zoom into south jersey. again, it's a sea of white. moderate snow falling everywhere with lighter snow falling to the north and west, glassboro, salem, wilmington, reporting moderate snow. millville, moderate snow. medford lakes, wrightstown all seeing moderate snow.

west avenue. little girl dropped something there. this is a bigger snow. it's thicker and covering the roads a lot quicker and it is laying it is wetter snow as opposed to the dry powdery stuff we saw this morning. if you look down west avenue you can hard hardly see the traffic light. visibility is getting worse and worse. don't go faster than 45 miles per hour on the roads because they are getting worse and worse. i'll pick up the snow and show everyone. like i said it's thicker and easier to pack as opposed to the dusty stuff we saw this morning. the roads will get covered up quicker than what they were compared to earlier this morning. the plow trucks are out and salt trucks are out in ocean city. i spoke to officials here they said they are programmed last night they started -- prepared,

seeing bangdz taking place. -- banged taking place. let's flip it over to the radars. the brighter color in monmouth, and ocean county, that's a moderate snow in the state of delaware that's falling at this time. let's go into gloucester county, some locations are picking up the lavender shade that's where the snowfall rates are coming down close to an inch an hour, woodstown, glassboro, swedesboro, mullica hill, gibbs town seeing snow falling. route 40 woodstown, pole tavern, malaga, moderate snow. you can see routes 30 and 73. it looks somewhat lighter, but that band is pushing off to the northeast rapidly and moving over routes 30 arena 73 in the next half-hour. one last zoom it will take us farther to the south into kent and sussex county in delaware as well as delaware and cape may

counties in south jersey. moderate snow occasionally on the heavier side when we start to pick up the brighter shades of white and the shades of lavender. we'll see this over the next several hours at least until lunchtime, 1:00 p.m. this afternoon, that's when things should start to wind down. it will be snowing, but the heaviest occurs through lunch. there's heavy snow in the virginias and the carolinas, where they are talking blizzard conditions, hampton beach, areas. they will see 12 to 15-inches of the white stuff. when you look at the bigger picture this is a glancing blow for us. you see the darker shades of lavender that's the steadier heavier snow flying. in south jersey it's coming down pretty good. the model will be picking up west of there, but it will be snowing here, as well. 1:00 p.m., snow for everybody,
