murder of a montgomery county teenager. a south jersey apartment building goes up in flames sending dozens of people into the frigid night air. plus, deep freeze we're waking up to very, very cold temperatures, but guess what? there's a warmup in the week ahead. >> meteorologist chris sowers here with a look at the accuweather forecast. >> reporter: the next couple of days are really, really cold, but there's a huge warmup in the seven-day forecast chill share with you later in the broadcast. let's get you outdoors, this is atlantic city, this is a familiar scene from yesterday, south and east, 5 to 6 inches. some areas picked up 8 and 9 inches of fresh powered. of course with all the snow on the ground, winds shifting out of the northwest, now the temperatures have dropped off a cliff. 16 degrees in philadelphia. trenton, 15. these are the actual air

temperatures, 6 in the poconos, 16 in reading. 15 in millville. when you factor in the winds feels like 1 degree below. zero in lancaster. one for wilmington, millville and trenton. and zero in atlantic city. mighty cold air out there this morning. you can see the winds follow the cloud cover in the direction they are moving. that's the wind direction. out of northwest it will stay that way today and tonight and tomorrow night and things start to change tuesday. later this afternoon along with the cold temperatures could be one or two passing flurries or brief snow shower mainly north and west of philadelphia. i don't think you'll see it south and east, if you see flakes flying this afternoon, don't get worried it would be just that, a couple of flakes. buferlt and cold, 3 -- blustery and cold, windy feeling no better than the single digits

and teens all day long. >> thank you for the update. 9:01. we continue to follow a developing story, overnight authorities file charges against a man in the gruesome death of a montgomery teenager. the boy friend of a grace packer's adopted mother has been accused of kidnapping rape and murder. jacob as you sullivan was takene a judge in newtown, bucks county. the and the girl's mother worked to kill the teen for money. >> in as he essence, jacob as u will vanned conspired to -- sullivan conspired with grace's mother to rape, and murder her. >> investigators say she knew that the girl was murdered the day before.

in late october grace packer's dismembered body was found in bear creek township luzerne county. we have evidence to approve this was a rape/murder fantasy that was shared by jacob sullivan and sarah packer and they made this fantasy into a horrible, heinous gruesome reality. >> the district attorney did not say how they expected to profit from the death. the adoptive mother has not been charged, sullivan is jailed without bail. flames portland from an camden county apartment buildings sending dozens of residents into the cold night air. >> this morning the investigation is just getting started into what caused this fire. "action news" reporter, jeanette reyes has the details. >> the top floor of our unit, our unit is on the bottom floor is on fire.

>> reporter: camden county crews battled the blaze in gloucester township that broke out at 10:00 p.m. at lake view apartments. the fire went from one to three-alarms as flames shot through the roof and engulfed the entire building. a gas leak complicated efforts feeding intense flames. >> i walked out and the roof of the opposite side of the apartment across the parking lot was on fire with a giant hole in it. >> reporter: what were you thinking when you saw that? >> scared, wondering how much was going to spread and if i need to get out of the buildings or not. >> reporter: there were initial ronlts by authorities of residents -- reports by authorities of residents trapped inside, but they were rescued. those displaced by the fire many elderly were brought out into the frigid cold and taken to the complex's office which was used as a temporary shelter until

other accommodations were made. 75 residents were displaced and no injuries have been reported. i'm jeanette reyes with channel 6 "action news." >> a couple is recovering from injuries after flames consumed their camden county home overnight. the action cam was on the scene on the 100 block of east somerdale avenue in somerdale. firefighters were called at 4:45 a.m. to reports of a bedroom on the second floor building. the couple was taken to cooper university hospital for smoke inhalation, the cause is under investigation. time 9:05 a.m., the federal government is planning to seek the death penalty against new jersey native and iraqi war veteran accused of going on a shooting page inside a florida airport. esteban santiago will make his first court appearance that happens tomorrow. he has been charged with an act of violence at the international airport. it is believed he planned the friday attack. five people were killed and 6

others injured. he put a semi automatic handgun in the luggage and he took it out of his bag and emptied two rounds before he was arrested. our coverage. florida shooting attack continues on air and online, we'll bring you the latest updates right here and 6abc.com. cleanup continues after a nor'easter brought snow to the entire region. nj dot crews cleared the roads in hammonton, atlantic county. the action cam was in peach tree plaza where plows were clearing the parking lot for shoppers. all that snow meant you have to remove the snow from their cars. they cleared the snow from the vehicles and gave their snow blowers a workout on the sidewalks on vine avenue. a similar symphony of snow blowers could be heard across

the delaware valley. deldot removed the snow from the streets and sidewalks in wilmington. we found wonderful little one happily helping mom clear the snow from the car and sidewalk in front of their home. >> its not too bad, it's lights, we have the young kids out here who are shoveling snow for us. >> reporter: young and enthusiastic and helpful. the city of wilmington got 2 1/2 inches of snow. southern delaware got up to 8 inches. >> there were conflicting reviews about the snowfall in pennsylvania, children hey they seemed to enjoy the weather. they spent the day playing in the snow sledding and having a good time out there. but adults didn't seem to show that same enthusiasm. especially those on the roads. >> more cars you have to go around, people can't drive, it's harder to you plow and put salt down. roxborough steep hills proved to be a slippery challenge for this mail truck that turned on to its side at

morning, forecast for today it's a cold one. make sure you bundle up. sunshine to start, clouds mixing in later on. 17 degrees by 9:00 a.m. the numbers are not climbing very high. 24 degrees by 3:00 p.m. we're shooting for a high of 25. normally we should be around 40. the snow that we saw yesterday the snowfall totals were higher than originally thought, part of the region for that, the storm out through here kept shifting farther to the north as the day wears on. originally the storm looked like it was going to do one of these work its way off the carolinas and out to sea. the track kept drifting farther to the north. the closer it is to us, the more snow we would see. that's why the totals were higher. the pressure was lowest right here, the storm was closer than originally plotted on the forecast modeling. that's the pattern we are in now. the cold rolls in tomorrow,

bucks county. the teen's dismembered body was found in luzerne county last october. jacob sullivan is the boyfriend of the victim's mother. a former ivy league professor guilty of killing his wife. raphael rob pleaded guilty to killing ellen rob back in 2006. ellen rob's family plans to gather outside the house where the couple lived. this morning we continue to follow the latest on the shooting rampage inside fort lauderdale international airport. the alleged gunman faces charges that could carry the death penalty if convicted. we're learning that his gun was confiscated months ago by the fbi and returned. eva pilgrim has all the details.

>> reporter: according to the fbi, the alleged fort lauderdale international airport shooter came to south florida with one purpose. >> indications are that he came here to carry out this horrific attack. >> reporter: in a criminal complaint, santiago told investigators he planned the attack purchasing a one way airline ticket. according to the documents filed in federal court saturday, he said he shot the first people he encountered, firing ten to 15 rounds aiming at his victims' head. five killed and 6 others shot. going on a cruise. active in the church she and her husband going on vacation. >> fbi agents say his estimates were confirmed by security video in the baggage claim area as well as by witnesses stories and cell phone video. this is not his first encounter

on the walk and driveways and things like that. we won't see any falling snow, that storm is long gone at this point. this was the coldest morning of the season so far officially in philadelphia and several other locations. allentown was the only area that has seen colder numbers up to this point. everybody else this is the coldest morning so much. mill -- so far. millville, 10. 17 in allentown. 8 in the poconos. 15 southeast millville, wilmington and trenton and cape may, 19 with a feels-like temperatures of 7. minus one in dover with the winds. minus 11 in the poconos. minus 1 in philadelphia. one degree above in millville. look at the numbers to the south, keep in mind this area here you don't see this kind of cold this far south. it was in the 20s as far as south as jacksonville, florida. richmond, ten inches of snow, 13. pittsburgh 8.

binghamton 9. it's going to be a cold game against miami and the steelers. 16 in buffalo, 1 in charleston. satellite and radar now that the arctic high is pushing through, we don't have too much to focus on, there's snow steamers coming off lake erie and ontario, some of that sneak into the lehigh valley and the poconos, in the immediate philadelphia area nothing but clouds and sun. there's future tracker 6, there's the moisture, 2:30 p.m. in the poconos getting as far south as the pennsylvania turnpike, everybody else looking at a combination of sun and clouds. it's a huge warmup in the seven-day forecast, so if you don't like the snow and the cold, stay patient, a couple of more days, the warm front lifts through and winds shift out of the southwest. this is the pattern for at least a week to ten days. cold air retreats into canada.

boyfriend of grace packer's adoptive mother. "action news" reporter, bob brooks joins us in the satellite center with the suburbing details of this -- disturbing details of this story. >> reporter: his name is jacob as you sullivan. according to detectives he confessed to the whole thing. bucks county district attorney said he is responsible for kidnapping and raping and killing packer's daughter last year. >> sullivan conspired with sara packer to kidnap rape and murder her. >> reporter: according to official documents jacob sullivan and sarah packer try to commute suicide together at a drug overdose. it was in the hospital that

sullivan cracked and told the story. >> it was for the money they could collect because of her life and very existence. the document states that the couple took grace from sara's home in abington to the new home in quakertown where the teen endured sexual assault and drugging. sullivan strangled her. parker reported her missing to abington police. the couple were scared of being conduct so they dismembered her body and dumped the remains in bear creek township. the remains west found in october. we expect further charges to be brought against sara packer. bob brooks, channel 6 "action news." >> bob, thank you. flames poured from a camden county apartment building sending dozens of residents out into the cold night air.

this morning the investigation is just getting started into what started this fire. "action news" reporter, jeanette reyes has the story. >> the top floor of our unit, our unit is on the bottom floor is on fire. camden county crews battled the blaze in gloucester township that broke out at 10:00 p.m. saturday night at lake view apartment. the fire went from one to three-alarms as flames shot from the roof and engulfed the entire buildings. a gas leak further complicated efforts feeding intense flames. >> i walked out and the roof of the opposite side of my apartment across the parking lot was on fire. there was a giant hole in it. >> reporter: what were you thinking when you saw that? >> scared, wondering how much was going to spread if i need to get out of the buildings or not. >> reporter: there were initial reports of residents trapped inside, but firefighters were able to rescue them.
