arraigned in newtown, bucks county. that's where we finds bob brooks following the story. bob, what are you learning about this? >> reporter: gray, i can tell you that police say sara packer and her boyfriend took part in the murder of grace packer, this was a fantasy that the two conjured up and carried out this past summer. take a look, the couple jacob sullivan and sarah packer, charged with murder. the victim sara's own adoptive daughter grace packer. "action news" was there as sullivan was handcuffed and surrounded by police, he said nothing to our camera. bucks county d.a. said he and sarah carried out a sycophancy by killing grace this past july. >> he kidnapped raped and murdered her and that's what jacob sullivan has been charged with doing.

>> reporter: much of what was documented in the investigation is so disturbing we can't put it on t. a major break came on december 30th when sullivan and packer attempted to commit suicide together by a drug overdose at their home in quakertown. family members found them before they died. it was in the hospital that sullivan cracked and confessed to the motive. >> the motive to perpetuate wait the lie was for greed for the money they could collect because of her life and very existence. they took her to another home in quakertown. as you will vanned said the couple -- as you sullivan said y attacked grace and drugged her and strangled her. they kept her body in the attic. grace's mother reported her missing to the police. during the investigation, the couple became scared of being

caught so they dismembered her body with a bow saw and dumped her remains in bear creek township. her remains were found in october. sarah packer has been charged along with her boyfriend with the murder of sarah's own daughter. reporting in newtown, bob brooks, channel 6 "action news." >> horrific details. happening today, a former ivy league professor is scheduled to be released from jail. raphael rob pled guilty to manslaughter in the death of ellen rob. the family plans to gather tomorrow outside the upper merion house where the couple lived to advocate for the victims of the domestic violence. dozens of people are looking for a place to stay after a three-alarm fire

destroyed multiple apartments in gloucester township. the fire at the lake view apartment complex. this is on the 500 block of lower landing road. things went from bad to worse when a gas line ruptured and firefighters were excavating residents. >> oh, my god. [ bleep ] is he okay? one of the firefighters got knocked down. >> you can hear the panic and fear, the firefighter the person was concerned about turned out to be okay. everyone managed to get out of the buildings -- building safely. the investigators say the fire started in the third floor bedroom. red cross ask helping with find shelter for residence who need help. four soldiers are dead after a palestinian man rammed

his truck into a group of soldiers. the victims included three women soldiers and a man, 15 other individuals were hurt. the driver was shot and killed at the scene. israel's prime minister said the attacker was a supporter of the islamic state extremist group. police are calling the incident a terror attack. the suspected gunman in the fort lauderdale airport shooting is faces charges that could carry the weight of death penalty. the gun was confiscated by the fbi and later returned. eva pilgrim has the latest on the investigation. >> reporter: according to the to the fbi, the alleged fort lauderdale international airport shooter came to south florida with one purpose. >> indications are that he came here to carry out the horrific attack. >> reporter: in a criminal complaint santiago told investigators he planned the

attack mmping a one with a -- purchasing a one way airline ticket. in a report on saturday he said he shot the first people he encounter aiming at his victims head. five killed 6 others shot. among those killed a couple from iowa going on a crews. another grandmother died active in her church from georgia she and her husband going on vacation. fbi agents say esteban santiago's statements were confirmed by the video in the baggage area. this is not his first encounter with the fbi, in november, the fbi confirmed he showed up to the anchor -- anchorage office saying the government was trying to get him to join isis. >> there's no indication that

breaking news, an arrangement is happening right now -- an reignment is happening right now, sara packer was scheduled to be arraigned at noon, packer and her 44-year-old boyfriend are charge with kidnapping, raping and homicide in the death of grace packer. grace's dismembered reremains were -- remains were found in october along a deserted road in bear township. >> we believe this was a rape murder, fantasy that was shared by jacob sullivan and sara packer. and they made this fantasy into a horrible heinous gruesome reality. >> prosecutors say that sullivan and packer conspired to kill grace for money. it is unclear how they expected to profit from the teenagers death. take a look at this

picture, flames pouring from a camden county apartment building sending dozens into the cold night rare. jeanette reyes talked to some of the people who managed to make it to safety. >> the top floor of our unit, our unit on the bottom floor is on fire. >> reporter: camden county crews battled the blaze in government township that broke out at 10:00 p.m. saturday night at lake view apartments. the fire went from one to three alarms always flames shot through the roof and engulfed the entire buildings. a gas leak further complicating efforts feeding intense flames. >> i walked out and the roof of the on acid side of my -- on the opposite side of the building was on fire with a giant hole in it. >> reporter: what were you thinking when you saw that, scared wondering how much it was going to spread if i need to get out of the building or not. >> reporter: there were initial reports by authorities of residents trapped inside, but

firefighters rescued them. residence in nearby buildings were evacuated as a precautionary measure. those displaced by the fire were brought out into the frigid cold into the leasing office that was used as a temporary shelter. 75 residents were displaced and no injuries were reported. jennifer joyce channel 6 "action news." >> a husband and wife escaped their burning home in camden county overnight. the action cam was at that scene on the 100 block of east somerdale avenue in somerdale. firefighters were called at 4:45 a.m. to reports of a bedroom on the second floor burning. the couple was taken to cooper university hospital for smoke inhalation, the cause of the fire is still under investigation. a chorus of snow blowers could be heard across the region after yesterday's nor'easter

moved through. deldot crews worked through the night in wilmington to remove the snow from the streets and sidewalks there. they found kids who happenly helped their mom clean the snow up and they had a little fun while they did it. >> it's not too bad, it's light, we have the young kids out here shoveling snow for us. >> the city of wilmington saw about 2 1/2 inches of snow. however, southern delaware saw up to 8 inches. the east coast is not the only place dealing with winter weather this weekend, a big storm is hitting the west coast right now. abc's rob marciano has a look at conditions there. >> reporter: overnight a powerful pacific storm leaving a blustery and deadly path in the northwest. turning interstate five into a path of destruction with vehicles skidding and crashing littering them with jackknifed semi also and flipped cars and buried sheriffs' suvs.

video shows you what happened when a toddler wondered out of his home in detroit. he was shoeless and tried to get into a gas station at 4:30 a.m. the clerk said he did not know where his mom was, it was really cold, he was cold. >> soon after police arrived, the boy's mother ran to the gas station looking for the child. their apartment we are told is next-door to the business. not clear how the child got out of his apartment. >> having the right kind of equipment saved two men stranded off the jersey coast. they called 911 when their 16-foot boat became disabled. a crew from the atlantic city air station found them four miles north of salem. the helicopter pilot involved in the rescue said it is a good thing the men were wearing the proper personal protective equipment because it was extremely and dangerously cold.

we've seen so far this season. here's satellite and radar along along -- the winds is picking up moisture off these two lakes here and it will pull it northeast. just north of philadelphia and the lehigh valley and the poconos could see the moisture into the evening hours. we're looking at a few brief snow showers or snow flurries. future tracker 6 showing by 3:00 p.m., well north and west of philadelphia, kind of dieing out as it approaches the city city. ones the sun sets we'll lose the in stability and skies will go mainly clear. feels-like temperatures, later this afternoon, single digits is what it will feel like out there. overnight tonight, pretty much the same deal. the numbers may drop below zero for a time as the actual air temperatures get cold. 7:00 a.m., 5 below in the poconos. 4 below in the lancaster. 3 below in trenton. 10 degrees in philadelphia.

when you've had enough all of a sudden mother nature will lend a helping handle and flip this pattern completely. this is the pattern we're seeing right now, the jet stream taking a live in the mid atlantic. this is cold brutal air drive be to the south. this is mild air off to the southwest off the four corners states. later this week, the jet stream will look like, this is all mild air coming up even places like vermont, maine, this area will see numbers below seasonal averages. take a look at this, there's philly, there's the cold air right there. watch what happens i'll put it in motion for you, monday, tuesday, wednesday, this is all warm, warm air just flooding the eastern seaboard. we get into thursday and friday, this area that just saw 15 inches of snow could be in the 70s by friday afternoon. it's called the southeast ridge acts like a bermuda high pressure system and warms everybody up.

you're taking a live look, sky6 live hd up there on spring mountain, the skiers are enjoying the slopes in this cold weather. meteorologist chris sowers tweeted there's no escaping the cold, but there will be a warmup in the next several days. >> president obama will give his farewell address to the nation in chicago and thousands braved the cold for a chance to witness it in person. a line wrapped around one building and continued outside into a second building. some people who got tickets are already selling them online and asking for inasmuch as $5,000 per ticket. this morning, queen elizabeth attended church services for the first time in weeks. the 90-year-old royal missed christmas and new year's day services because she was suffering from what's described as a heavy cold. the first time in 30 years, the

>> recapping our top stories on "action news," prosecutors has charged sara packer and her 44-year-old boyfriend jacob sullivan in the murder of 14-year-old grace packer. grace was her adopted daughter, the judge granted no bail. the red cross is seeking "shelter me rescue of the week" for dozens of south jersey residents whose building at the lake view apartment complex went up in flames. there's no word on the cause for the gloucester township fire and gas explosion. there were no injuries reported. 66-year-old raphael robb is walking out of jail today. the former penn professor, beat her to death.
