wednesday night the big story on "action news" is the developing news out of camden where a man shot a man while responding to a domestic violence incident. it happened in east camden at the corner of 27th and federal. christie aleto is live with more on the investigation. >> reporter: rick and monica, camden police are still on scene almost six hours after what is being called an officer-involved shooting that started as a domestic dispute. police are focusing on an upstairs apartment unit and looking at cameras from businesses below for how this all happened. officer as rived at 11:30 this morning and encountered an armed man identified as 38-year-old antonio venture a, it happens as

he was approaching a woman inside of the residence and she was rushed to the hospital. and ventura was shot by police and taken to the hospital and the street was blocked off for several hours as the detectives were on the scene. it's unclear what caused the dispute and many did not want to go on camera. a woman spoke to us anonymously. >> i don't know them though, i see a lady going in and out with her kids. the scary. >> now no officers were injured and the officer that discharged his weapon is on administrative leave. >> thank you christie. turning now to the white house transition and the first news conference held by president-elect trump after winning office. it covered a wide range of topics and had tense moments

to take another car from its driver and crashed again trying to take a septa worker's truck. and he had a confrontation with the first driver of the car he tried to steal and that man had a permit to carry and shot him in the leg. and now they are working with local school officials to come up with a safety plan after a sear whys of fights. this is video of a fight after a basketball game between harry truman high school and ben salem in september. and another fight broke out at harry truman and there was word of retaliation that night. and police are looking into if extra precautions are necessary moving forward. philadelphia police need your help looking for two men that beat a deli employee because of a price of a sandwich.

they hope that someone recognizes it's suspects. it shows two men walking into the daylight deli in southwest philadelphia last wednesday and they argued with a 60-year-old employee and then began punching her when she asked them to leave. knocking her to the ground. and jim kenney announced his plan to fight the opioid crisis in philadelphia and is calling on experts to come up with a solution to a nationwide problem. ali gorman is live at the big board with the details. >> it's a huge problem in philadelphia and across the nation, the city projects more than 800 people died of deaths in 2016 and tens of thousands of people from all walks of life are struggling with addiction, the task force aims to help. >> lives are cut short and families are destroyed. mayor kenney announced a new task force to address the problem of opioid abuse and

addiction and overdose. it brings leaders in the mental health community, law enforcement and city leaders together to combat the problem. >> 27-year-old andrew applauds the effort. he is now almost four years clean and now adishting to working out instead of drugs. but his story is similar to thousands of others. he started using prescription pain killers like percocet casually and then became dependant and finding more pills was easy. >> it was easy, just had to ask around and go into a certain neighborhood. >> and then when he couldn't afford pain killers he opted for something cheaper, heroin and he was hooked. mayor kenney says in order to prevent this doctors that are overprescribes will be held accountability. >> that is a major effort on my

delaware where there are reports of an oil spill into the river. we are looking live from chopper 6 hd you see the emergency officials on the scene there. the spill was reported again in the delaware just off the unit block of janson avenue in tinicum township. no word on the exact amount or what happened. but some oil has reportedly spilled in the delaware river and they are on the scene. we'll keep an eye on the situation. chopper 6 hd is live over the delaware. a philadelphia man turned the table on a would be robber who police say attacked him and demanded money and that attacker is now in the hospital. sara bloomquist is live at the scene along the 4900 block of fifth street in olney. with more on what happened. >> reporter: rick, authorities do bev believe that the victim

acted in self-defense when he shot the suspect multiple times in the olney section. the final decision is up to the district attorney but at this point police don't believe the charges will be filed. >> surveillance video shows the commotion on the 4900 block in olney last night. in the moments before and after a man shot a would be robber apparently in self-defense. >> and business owners say there are problems with young people targeting people out and about in the evening in this largely immigrant community. >> this happens at least twice a week. all of these muggings and robberies. it happens and we are used to it. we have to cope with it. >> last night around 11:30 the victim was leaving this take out restaurant with food in hand when a 18-year-old punched him if the face and announced a robbery. he drops the food and begins running and screaming for help trying to avoid confrontation

and the suspect chased him across the street and the surveillance video captured some action but it's unclear what exactly is going on and off camera the 31-year-old victim pulled out his gun and shot the attacker. >> the complaintant is actually armed and a valid commit to carry and at some point he pulls out the firearm and fires several shots hitting the male. >> he returned to the scene to tell the police what happened when the young suspect was rushed to the hospital people we talked to today didn't seem that surprise that the victim was prepared to defend himself last night. >> it's no surprise, you know you live in the a neighborhood where this kind of stuff is happening. of course a lot of them get prepared. they have knives or guns, i don't know. i have no clue but that is the only way they see how to defend themselves. >> now, the suspect that would

be robber did have two friends with him and they are now said to be cooperating with police and considered witnesses and not likely to be charged either, the victim suffered minor injuries when he was punched in the face last night. >> thank you. a tennessee man is now facing criminal charges in chester county. for allegedly assaulting a young woman. john -- was extradited to our area yesterday an accused of inappropriately touching a female victim dating back to 1999 and that he knew the victim prior. and remains behind bars on bail. and do you recognize the three men in this video from the express fuel stop. they believe that this group could be responsible for other atm break-ins as well. back on september 23rd, the suspects knocked over a machine

inside of the store on the 5200 block of oxford avenue and pried it open and took the cash and then ran. turning now to the battle against drug overdoses, today 518 naloxone prescriptions were filled in montgomery county. pennsylvania's -- at a supermarket. the event demonstrates how everyone can use the standing order signed by the doctor as a prescription to get naloxone. >> in landeds dale a student is diagnosed with whooping cough and other students may have been exposed. a highly contagious respiratory disease and for children up to 7 years of age. matt pellman is in the traffic center with the low down on the slow down.

snowfall is up in the air. yesterday it was over our region to the northern and today over our region to the sound. is this a trend that push its to the south. we'll have to see but a stripe of light snow coming in saturday afternoon and evening and overnight and we look at a coating to an inch possibly with that system. not a big system but we'll see if it still pushes into our area here for the beginning of the weekend. the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast 64 tomorrow and near records for some and friday brisk and a reality check starts to push back in at 48 degrees and we watch to see where the band of light snow develops and late saturday afternoon and saturday evening, the cold day no matter and 33 and partly sunny on sun and back up to 40 and day of service and morning showers at 43 and then even though it's cloudy with a drizzle hanging on tuesday into wednesday, not the brightest of days. still very warm between 50 and 55 degrees, not a lot of sun

and the big story on "action news" tonight is an adamant denial by president-elect donald trump in his first news conference since last summer and used words like phoney stuff. to describe reports that russia has compromising financial and personal information about him. the report that circulate the last night said there was an ongoing relationship with trump and his inner circle. those were shared with trump and president obama. >> trump said this today. >> it's a disgrace that information is let out. i saw the information and read the information outside of that meeting it's all fake news, it's phoney stuff. it didn't happen. >> as for claims that russia harked the clinton campaign and the dnc trump finally
