bloomquist, and meteorologist, david murphy. good afternoon sara bloomquist is off. breaking news police are at the scene of a crash involving a car in the city's frankford section. and an investigation is underway for a robbery on the popular schuylkill trail. and the precautions now being taken. the big story is the escaped suspect who has been taken into custody. chopper 6 hd was over the scene, and brought into custody here. and was caught hours after being able to escape a police cruiser all while being handcuffed. it happened when a car slammed into the cruiser on the roosevelt boulevard. bob brooks is live with the latest. >> reporter: rick, first this suspect crashed three cars and then was arrested for it. and then if you can believe it, he escaped from police by kicking his way out of a police

cruiser. >> after a morning spent on the run from the philadelphia police, the man that kicked his way out a cop car was caught. cameras caught the moment they took him into police head quarters. he is accused of crashing a total of three cars including his own on roosevelt boulevard. calls came in for an erratic driver and before they got the suspects to stop, he ran into one police vehicle and slammed into this white suv. but after he was arrested. he managed to kick his way out of a police cruiser busting open the door and police say he ran down the boulevard and temporary got away still handcuffs. and it was here on godfrey avenue that they caught the suspect. >> neighbors did not hear anything but they were not shocked. >> nothing surprising me anymore. now-a-days, everything is so

fisherman in egg harbor. police are searching for the missing clam fisherman. he called the coast guard that his boat ran aground last night. they found his boat but he was not there. the man at the center of the clergy sex abuse scandal is back in court. a judge could dismiss the case against william lynn, they claim that prosecutors withheld probable evidence in his case. he spent two years in prison. the first catholic official in the city. once the judge makes the decision we'll send out an alert on the 6 abc app. and police say that a man wearing a red ski mask and armed with with a weapon armed someone overnight here and got away with cash and a cell phone. it happened before 1:00 this morn on the trail near walnut

street. the suspect ran away and amtrak police and philadelphia police both responded. no reports of injuries, we'll have a live report on the live investigation coming up in just a little bit on "action news" at 12:30. the u.s. department of justice just released the final report on the philadelphia police department. the initial report was released in may of 2015. the department is implement many of the 91 recommendations in the report. and commissioner ramsey ordered it in 2014 after increase in officer-involved shooting. and chaka fattah will likely be headed to prison later this month. he was allowed to remain free while appealing his decision on racketeering charges. he was convicted in june of using more than $600,000 in

government grants and nonprofit funds on personal and campaign expenses. in washington the justice department's inspector general is turning the tables on fbi director james comey, he wants to know if comey and the rest of the fbi department followed proper procedures over hillary clinton's emails during the presidential election. lana zach is live with more. >> and president-elect trump has responded to that today. >> good afternoon, as one of the many topics he is weighing in on on twitter today. as far as the president-elect goes, he says publically he has not decided if he would like comey to remain the head of the fbi when he becomes president. this has wide ranging implication. >> the fbi does not comment on investigations. i would never comment on

and the potential for a significant ice storm is increasing. a small memorial is set up near the home where six children died in a house fire in baltimore. the mother of the family was able to escape along with her 8-year-old daughter that manage to the save two of her brothers and six others were trapped inside. the third floor of the home collapsed. and the mother and two boys we main in critical condition. and investigators are be back at the scene today to figure out how the tragic fire started. >> and they have met on the tarmac after several flight attendants became sick, the captain reported that the de- e de-icer was falling from an air vent in the form of a white powder. and the agent says the powder is not toxic. none of the passengers were sick. >> a driver used a high tech

device to avoid paying a $1.25 toll on a highway in central florida. state troopers say that 27-year-old joshua west used a remote control device that dropped the shield over the license plate on his car. he was pulled over and arrested him. charged with theft and cheating it's a felony. >> not worth having a felony charge on your record. don't use the road if you can't afford it. >> it's unclear how many times west may have used the device to avoid paying the tolls. fiat chrysler ceo responds to cheating on emissions tests. when "action news" continues.

fiat chrysler is refuting charges by federal regulators that it cheated on emissions standards. that they failed to disclose the use of software allowing some suvs and pickups to evade emissions standards. some analysts suggest that fiat chrysler's problem was not intentional deception like vw. and a teacher shaves his head to show kids about bullying. when the boys classmates started

meteorologist, melissa magee, if you like yesterday you will be disappointed. >> that is true. no more record highs, we were in the 60s earlier today. even still. but it looks like temperatures are cooling off later tonight and the snow tomorrow. here is stormtracker 6 live double scan radar you see we are not tracking any precipitation so temperatures not too bad right now, get out and enjoy while you can on your lunch break. sky 6 hd there in spring mountain in montgomery county, you see the skiers having some fun there. and you may get snow from mother nature as early as tomorrow as we track a system moving in from the south. right now in philadelphia we come in at 48 degrees, 45 in reading and 33 in the poconos and 50 for wilmington dover and millville 53 at the coast in atlantic city. and 49 in cape may. the wins are sustained 13 miles per hour in millville and as high as 18 in the city and reading, we are tapping into a

northwesterly wind and that will help to get temperatures cooler by day's end and in advance of a cold front and moisture we are tracking. here is satellite 6 along with action radar a front moved through last night and sagging to the south and the cold air is lagging behind that. we'll track that and that will funnel in later on this evening. if you step out on the town, maybe some plans tonight and the evening planner looking like this, 39 degrees by 7:00 p.m. mostly cloudy sky and upper 30s and extra layers are needed tonight and upper 30s by 10:00 and 11:00 p.m. here is the setup for saturday, the cold air sets us up for what is to come. a light snow and sleet event on the way and high pressure is to the north and arctic high pressure is in place and we are tracking this weak area of low pressure to the south, this area of low pressure is having a hard time fighting the cold but dry air to the north.

so it doesn't look like we'll find a whole lot of precipitation and a minimal snowfall event across the region. future tracker 6 showing you 9:00 in the morning a cloudy start and dry to the day on saturday and little afternoon we'll track snow approaching there in south jersey, and also into delaware, by 4:00 things start to fill in a bit with some snow on the i-95 corridor and areas to the south and east maybe a sleet line in wildwood and central delaware. 7:30 or a little after that, the snow tapers off from a west east direction. as far as expected snow not a lot. a half inch in lakehurst and westward into reading and lancaster, just a few flakes in the poconos and allentown. this could make for slick spots but little snow falls on the way tomorrow. here is the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast bresk and colder today.

city skyline on this friday afternoon. the temperature is going down and that could mean snow for us this weekend. meteorologist melissa magee joins us out sides with what to expect. >> we have changes on the way as we get into the start of our weekend as the snow will approach from a south to north direction. but it's a little cooler this afternoon. philadelphia coming in at 48 after yesterday we had record highs across portions of the region. right now in reading 45 and 50 in dover. we are tapping into the northwesterly wind and winds sustained to 40 in trenton and 18 miles per hour in trenton and reading. and they are coming out of the northwest and will feel cooler in comparison to yesterday. evening plans, the planner looks like this, 7:00 p.m. tonight at 39, a big drop-off in our temperatures, 8:00 p.m.
