begins his first full day as president of the united states. a look at what he has planned. hundreds of thousands of women marching in unity, the event planned in washington, d.c. and right here in philadelphia. plus, we're following developing news from chestnut hill where police are investigating a home invasion and sexual assault. those stories and more in just a moment, but first we turn to the the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast with meteorologist chris sowers help you plan the day. not looking too good, >> reporter: we're getting used to this. this morning, a lot of low leave clouds and patchy fog has settled in. visibility is reduced. we have a caution flag up for the dense fog for just about everybody. it's important to take it easien on the roads. slow down the traveling speeds. the numbers are not improving, if anything, they have gotten

worse. we're down to .3 in philadelphia. half mile for allentown and millville. .3 in the poconos, everybody is socked in with the dense fog. satellite and radar it's unfortunate if we could get low level clouds to lift, satellite image shows we have breaks in the higher clouds. because the low level clouds are so stubborn, i don't think you'll see sunshine. cloudy day with areas of fog this morning some of it rather dense. 53 degrees is the mild high this afternoon. take a look, a little bit wider across the country. this is the nor'easter that moves in sunday night into monday. what i can back i'll have all the details when it arrives and how strong the winds will be and the waivings and the whole nine yards, gray. >> donald trump is waking up in the white house for the first

holding signs they seem happy today and excited about what's to come and they are expecting big crowds 400,000 by last count. they may be adjusted upward as things continue to develop in washington, d.c. reporting live from the nation's capitol, lana zack channel 6 "action news." >> this morning, hundreds of thousands of people are descending on the nation's capitol for the women's march. a large number will be from the area. the action cam caught up with the group, mostly women boarding buses in university city this morning. there was an estimated 400 people in the group, they organized through social media. small groups will gather throughout the region like this one in haverford. >> i'm very pro choice, i am highly concerned that donald trump and his cabinet will take away that right for me and my

healthcare. >> we are highly educated women with masters degrees, and children that we have a vision of the future for, and we don't want to see that lost. >> and for those who want to participate in the march and do not want to travel to washington, d.c. another event is planned here today. john rawlins is live along the benjamin franklin parkway for the women's march that takes place in philadelphia. john what can we expect. >> reporter: we expect a lot of people. it looks like there will be tens of thousands of people in this march due to step out in an hour from now, from logan square moving west along the parkway to the steps of the art museum, there will be a rally there. heavy security. security arrived early when it was dark and continued to build as the morning progressed, logan square, the parkway, nearby streets closed to traffic. police cars and heavy trucks

used as barricades. organizers of the march expect 30,000 people to be here. early arrivals gathering this morning talked about why it was important to be hear. >> the present administration doesn't believe that women are part of the we the people. there's a lot of fear. >> i believe how they showcase themselves has become a threat to many minorities including women people of color. >> rights for women will be eroded certainly right for all the progress that was made in the lgbtq community, rights of the disabled, rights of immigrants, so many things that are core values as a county. >> reporter: the march is due to begin at 10:00, it will start at logan square they will move west. the rally starts at noon, it is expected to conclude at 3:00 p.m. live along the parkway, john rawlins channel 6 "action news." >> thank you so much for the

"action news" coverage of the women's march in philadelphia continues at 6abc.com, you'll find road closures that will be in effect during this event. you can share your pictures and videos from the march by sharing them on the "action news" facebook page and twitter using the #6abc action. 907. police are investigating a home invasion and sexual assault in the chestnut hill neighborhood. a woman and man told me police they were a wakened by a masked man inside their home on the unit block of east chestnut hill avenue. the suspect assaulted the women before stealing the victim's wallet and car. developing this morning, philadelphia police are questioning a woman accused of shooting a man inside her apartment in manayunk. officers responded to the 4300 block of boon street at 2:30 a.m. the women encountered the man in

her bedroom and said he was holding a pair of scissors, the man was shot once in the neck and died at the scene. he has been identified as a 32-year-old man. this morning firefighters are trying to figure out what started a fire that killed two brothers in delaware county. smoke poured out of a second floor window of the 1,000 block of morton avenue in chester yesterday. the fire ripped through three homes a mother and two adult sons were in one of the homes. the brothers died in the fire, we are told that one was disabled. that mother is being treated for smoke inhalation. the owner of a store on jewelers row has been charged with buying jewelry stolen from luxury homes in the suburbs. police say this man here used three store fronts that he owned to buy and sell the stolen jewelry. they say he was the middleman for a burglary ring that targeted homes in chester and

delaware county. the thieves tied up a resident and threw a safe from a second floor balcony and got away with a half million dollars worth of items. a major connection between pennsylvania and new jersey is shut down and there's no word when it will reopen. the turnpike connector bridge between bristol, bucks county and burlington county, new jersey was closed yesterday afternoon after a bridge painting crew found a fracture in the truss on the pennsylvania side. drivers were directed to use narrower burlington bristol bridge that created a tie-up on route 413 and 13. >> it's not that busy at all. >> i got off i-95 half-hour ago. >> reporter: and you've gone how far? >> not even five miles. >> never fun to be stuck in traffic. crews tell "action news" the bridge will be closed today at a minimum. a timeline for repairs is expected to be released this

>> four people are dead after one tornado ripped through southern mississippi. this happened overnight. the twister ripped trees from the ground and tore roofs from homes and left a wide path of destruction in hattiesberg. emergency crews are on campus assessing the damage. 12 people were hurt.

tough time for folks in mississippi. back here at home, meteorologist chris sowers tracking our forecast, not pretty, but no rain today. >> reporter: no rain today, but it's the same storm that produced the tornados down there that will be running the eastern seaboard and become a full blown nor'easter by the time it hits on monday. when you hear nor'easter you think of heavy snow, but there's no cold air around, this will be rain and wind. commodore barry bridge that's the view right now, we are fogged in, actually the entire delaware and lehigh valleys seeing visibilities between 1 and 2 miles or even less in areas. philadelphia up to one mile, we're improving slightly there. 3 miles in trenton. half mile for atlantic city and millville. .8 in reading. half mile in the lehigh valley. .3 in the poconos. there's just no cold air, even buffalo is sitting at 44 degrees, it's 9:14 a.m., it's

unbelievable for this time of the year. pits, 47. washington, d.c., 48. we're already at 44 and we have a completely cloudy sky, just imagine if we had any sunshine today, my goodness, the temperatures could easily been in the mid 50s. we're forecasting a high of 53, but again it could be warmer if we had sunshine. there's the storm developing right now, pushing through the southern states it becomes a nor'easter sunday night into monday, it runs up the spine of the appalachians with heavy rains and gusty winds. here's a better view over here, all the drier air on the backside this is where all the storminess is developing, the heavy rains and gusty winds. let's time it out, future tracker 6, later this afternoon, it's a quiet day, dull looking, lots of clouds and fog around from time to time. overnight tonight here comes round number one, after midnight into the wee hours of the morning. first thing tomorrow morning we're looking at periods of

rain, some of it will be heavy at times. by afternoon we catch a break in the action maybe leftover showers and drizzle, the heavy rains are gone. this is by 2:00. during the late afternoon or early evening hours same thing showers and drizzle. round number two arrives sunday night into monday morning, heavy rains, torrential rain and strong gusty winds. as a matter of fact, the gusts could reach 65 miles per hour anywhere from sandy hook to wildwood. 45 to 55-mile an hour gusts for the i-95 corridor and weaker winds across central pennsylvania including the wilks-berre scranton area, harrisburg state college places to the west. a majority of the area will see gusts as high as 50 miles per hour as we get into monday morning. more specifically for the jersey shore, sunday night into monday morning, peak wind gusts 55 to 65 miles per hour. keep in mind hurricane force

are taking part in the women's march on washington. health leaders in new jersey are taking action after increased lead leaves are found in some communities. temple basketball player has talent off the court. we'll take a look at his remarkable skills. those stories, but first, meteorologist chris sowers is tracking the forecast with the accuweather conditions. it's gray this morning. >> reporter: not that we don't like gray. we would like to see sunshine, unfortunately today is not that day, neither is sunday, monday or tuesday. here's the water vapor looper across the country. it's gray and gloomy, no rain, it's miserable out there. we get into sunday, here comes the storm. it will be a full blown nor'easter, but no snow. the low develops here it will travel up the spine of the appalachians for position right here sunday night. the problem with this low is a

blocking area of high pressure to the north. had that high not been there this storm would not be nearly as bad, but the high will slow this low down. because of that we'll see a continuous flow off the ocean like this for hundreds of miles and easterly winds will develop. that will pile up the waves. this area here could see 15 a -- to 25-foot waves. there will be beach erosion and wave heights 15 feet-plus. it's the jersey shore that takes the brunt of this. philadelphia, heavy rain gusting up to 45 to 50 miles per hour. down the jersey shore, it's a different ballgame. coastal flooding there's a good bet you'll see that. power outages on the moderate risk scale and beach erosion on the high side.

sailor ryder was found shot to death on new year's eve. prosecutors have not said if she was shot by herself or by someone else. elevated levels of lead will be detected in clifton, pasaic, patterson and prospect park, new jersey. the commission plans to replace the lead lines and test it on a regular basis. people living in the impacted area are encouraged to use bottled water or filtered water. we have an update on a dog that was discarded in a trash bag. we're learning that the animal is improving there's the look right there. the dog named frances was released from penn vet yesterday afternoon. she has a new accessory to help her get around. the dog has a spinal fracture and can not move her behind

afternoon. there could be a little bit of mist out there, but that's about it. 44 for philadelphia. 45 for millville, atlantic city, cape may, 45. 44 for lancaster and wilmington. even the poconos, 40 degrees in the mountains, trenton checking in at 43. here's another look at the nor'easter we're watching. this will be a two part system, this is rounds number one, that is round number two, that will be the main event that arrives sunday night into monday. here's a close look at rounds number 1, quite impressive we have lightning counter on in the morning. usually with the in stability and the heating of the day you get this stuff in the afternoon. impressive. this will bring moderate rain to the area after midnight tonight and into sunday morning. you'll see that on future tracker 6. we'll keep it cloudy throughout the day, a lot of low level clouds dealing with patchy fog from time to time, a miserable looking day.

it won't be raining. that changes sunday morning. after midnight tonight the first round of rain arrives sunday morning, steady rain that will pull out in the afternoon. there could be leftover patchy drizzle only to see rounds number two move in sunday night. monday morning, heavy rains pull through and strong gusty winds. rainfall totals looks like a 1 to 2 inches, isolated amount of 3. all it takes is a mild shift to the west, all of a sudden this is closer to 3 inches. right now it looks like 1 to 2, heavier amounts closer to the jersey shore. the winds this will be another big issue, 3:30 p.m., nothing too bad, we've seen 20-mile an hour gusts before, look how quickly the numbers jump during the day. we get into monday morning, all of a sudden we're seeing 50-plus mile an hour gusts for the

jersey and the jersey shore. 60 dover, millville, atlantic city by 9:00 a.m. we're piling on the water and we'll seacoastal flooding. to give you an idea, power outages expected for the jersey shore. 45-mile an hour winds broken branches and television. twigs, you get into the jersey shore, trees could be uprooted when you talk about 50, 60, 65-mile an hour winds. big problems for the jersey shore especially with the high tide that occurs at 4 m-- 4:00 a.m. overnights tonight, fog developing, rain develops after midnight. lots of clouds, it's mild and temperatures in the low to mid 40s. the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast shows clouds hanging tough until we get to wednesday.
