the visibility has come up a little bit, but it's still thick and dense in parts of the area. as a matter of fact, the national weather service continues the dense fog advisory until 10:00. we'll see if the visibility comes up slightly. we'll see foggy conditions through the first part of the afternoon. we're up to 3 miles so there's an improvement in philadelphia. 3 miles in wilmington. less than a mile north and west. allentown, .3. atlantic city, one mile, millville, 3 miles. if by some miracle the fog does lift anytime soon all these clouds will roll in anyway. as this shield of cloud cover rolls in, that will produce scattered drizzle throughout the afternoon hours. yesterday it was kind of gray and gloomy, today pretty much follow also suit. areas of fog and drizzle, 52 degrees is the forecasted high. this becomes your nor'easter for tomorrow. i'll have details on the timing,

"action news" has learned a man knocked on a women's door on the 5100 block of hazel avenue in west philadelphia before 7:00 a.m. the man was shot somewhere else and collapsed on her doorstep. the victim was rushed to penn presbyterian in critical condition. police are trying to figure out where the man was shot and why. chester police are looking for evidence that will help them track down the person who shot and killed a man early this morning. the action cam at the scene at magazine knoll will -- magnoliad east 6th street. the officers found the man lying in the street he had been shot several times. the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. today marks the second full

day in office for president donald trump and the new commander-in-chief has a packed schedule. today his assistance will be officially sworn in and the president will hold a reception for law enforcement officers and first responders. it is his 12th wedding anniversary with the first lady. this comes with marchs across the globe in opposition to president trump and his policy. >> reporter: a battle cry heard from hundreds of thousands of people. >> we'll resist any racists sexist policy that come our way. >> reporter: the national mall in washington, d.c. flooded with people. >> i think everybody here has a lot of anguish and worry about what's going to happen. >> reporter: women, men and children taking to the streets from coast to coast. >> now we can whimper, we can whine, or we can fight back, me i'm here to fight back.

staff said half a million people took the train, the crowd topping the number of riders on inauguration day. the marchers say this is just the beginning. >> many people who did not want to travel to washington, d.c. took part in their own march in philadelphia. city leaders say the crowd size for an event doubled an earlier prediction. nearly 20,000 participants were expected. the mayor's office said 50,000 people showed up. marchers held signs and chanted and marched down the benjamin franklin parkway. many are concerned about donald trump's administration. >> he came into office and within a few minutes major pages from the website were gone, climate control was gone. he is out of touch. >> it says we're not going to lie down during this presidency. we have rights we need to fight for. >> mayor jim kenny helped to kick off the rally on eakens

oval calling for equality and unity. police say it was a peaceful protest. no arrests were made. among the hundreds of marchs held across the globe was another one in trenton. the action cam was there as a large crowd gathered near the war memorial. there were several speakers at the rally. the group marched a half mile to the steps of the state house. the action cam was in newark hundreds ever people marched two miles to main street. many carrying signs to convey their message. our 6abc app has coverage of the marchs in philadelphia and washington, d.c. and around the world. we have dozens of photos and videos from our "action news" team here and the nation's capitol. a 07-year-old woman is dead -- 70-year-old woman is dead, police say she was stabbed to death inside her south philadelphia home.

officers are working to locate the person responsible for the crime. police were called to the 7900 block of caesar place after 5:30. they say the women was stabbed repeatedly and died inside her home. the suspect is a 29-year-old man related to the victim. police don't have a motive for the attack. jury selection for the corruption trial of former harrisburg mayor begins tomorrow. authorities say reid used taxpayer money to buy memorabilia for a wild west museum. reid faces more than 100 criminal account including theft of public funds and bribery and receiving stolen property. from our new jersey newsroom, police arrested a man who owed the state in $56,000. an officer stopped him when his car went through an e-z pass

>> flash flooding in arizona caused several close calls for people trapped in the surging waters there. firefighters in cave creek north of phoenix rescued half dozen people caught in their cars when water poured into the streets and rose rapidly. there were no reports of injuries, the state got a break from the rain rarcht. a new storm is moving into the area today. heavy rain is causing flooding in parts of california. cars and cabins were flooded down a coastal canyon. it interrupted the post presidential vacation for former

visibility is reduced. take it easy first thing this morning. the fog will stick around for the first part of the arch and hopefully things improve. temperatures wise it's mild. 46 in philadelphia. 47 in millville. cape may, 47. trenton, 44. and allentown, checking in at 42. the storm we're watching is actually right here, this counter clockwise swirl looks innocent enough. there's not much in the way of heavy activity with the storm, as it continues to travel east anne heads across the ohio and tennessee valleys it will gather steam. it will pick up strength on the jet stream that's running with winds up to 200 miles per hour. it will take that energy aloft and transport it down to the surface. that's why we're expecting strong gusty winds around here tomorrow morning, especially down the jersey shore. today is a cloudy day, areas of drizzle and patchy fog, but the steadier rains hold off until overnight tonight and that sets up tomorrow at this point looks

like a complete mess. rain start to finish. some of it will be heavy at times, winds swept rain with gusts as high as 50 miles per hour in philadelphia. maybe 60 miles per hour in atlantic city. know how far to the west the rain/snow line is, it's farther west than harrisburg abbey wilks-berre scranton area. this is rain with this storm. the national weather service issued a wind advisory for the i-95 corridor for monday, 40 to 50 miles per hour. we have a high wind warning for the jersey shore for 60-mile an hour. they i should a hurricane force warning for long island north of new york city for 70-mile an hour. potentially damaging winds are expected gusting 50 to 60 miles per hour. you'll see treats down at some point during the afternoon. probably see power lines as well, it will make for difficult

>> reporter: welcome back everyone, 9:23 sunday morning, we're tracking a nor'easter gathering strength across the heartland of the nation, there's no snow with the storm this time around. you can see that bowling ball feature south of dallas. it will make a left left-hand tn and come up the eastern seaboard overnight tonight and tomorrow. the problem is we've got the storm here. it makes the trip up the coast. we have an area of high pressure right here, if you're a snow lover, you like what you see, but the low will hit the high and slow down, we'll get all the moisture off the atlantic. the problem is this high came from the pacific ocean not the arctic. take a look at the numbers across the eastern half of the united states. 41 in chicago, the normal 34, it's not 10:00 a.m. in the morning. all the cold air with the storm is out in through here. now, the higher elevations of pennsylvania and upstate

new york will get snow with the storm. it's only an elevation thing. at sea level we get rain and winds. >> officials in snyder county have figure figure out how to re the amounts of fighting by the inmates. they crocheting. the program was initialed by the republican women 6 years ago. it benefits those who receive the blankets, but the inmates in the prison, as well. >> we have saved literally hundreds of thousands of dollars in healthcare costs by not having to run these folks to the hospital when they get into scraps. because they have been eliminated for the most part. >> the snyder county courthouse collects donations of yarn to keep the program going. the inmates are quick workers and running low. pets are extended members of the family, as they age and

after a tornado barrels through parts of the south. it may be a good day for a book or movie, a nor'easter is drenching the entire region today. >> meteorologist chris sowers is outside with a look at the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast, chris a lot going on today. >> reporter: well the main event arrives overnight tonight and into tomorrow morning. pretty much what's going on today is clouds and fog and patchy drizzle from time to time. we're seeing that right now on city avenue. another thing that i am starting to notice, the winds are beginning to pick up, that's a good sign once the winds strengthen it will lift the fog and visibility improves. 46 in philadelphia. 47 in millville. wilmington, 47. poconos, 47 degrees, cape may and atlantic city both checking in at 46. here's another look at the fog report. 3 miles in philadelphia which is an improvement from where we were first thing this morning down to .1 in reading.

all of those deaths happened in three counties in the central part of that state overnight. we know at least 23 people were hurt, but they managed to survive. local leaders are assessing the damage there. this comes a day after a tornado in mississippi destroyed just about everything in its path. dozens of homes are damaged or destroyed and four people were killed. >> while out west people are dealing with destruct issue flooding, abc's adrien bancart has the details. >> reporter: mississippi the worst hit after a string of tornado. trees smashing through rooftops, homes decimated, walls gone. >> this is what's left of our house. >> reporter: this home leveled. his daughter's mattress thrown into a tree. >> they say you know everything uprooted, like a rag doll slammed to the floor and everybody -- everything on top

have insurance so they are waiting for the red cross and fema for assistance. abc news, mississippi. >> a major bridge connecting bucks county and burlington county is closed this morning. commuters have to make alternative plans if thee they use the turnpike connector bridge. crews do not have a time frame when it will reopen. workers spotted a fracture on a steel truss. construction started yesterday to stabilize the bridge before a permanent repair plan is made. we'll have details on the bridge closure and what it means for the commuters in a live update in the next half-hour. philadelphia police are investigating a deadly overnight shooting outside a beauty salon. the action cam was on north 20th street in west oak lane. police were called at 12:00 this morning. a man was found laying on the

sidewalk he died of a gunshot wound to the face. police have no motives or suspects. police in south jersey are investigating a deadly shooting, a man in his 20s is shot on the unit block of broad and burlington late last night. he was rushed to lourdes hospital where he died of his injuries. there were no motives for the shooting or suspects him. police search for the suspect in a violent home invasion in chestnut hill section of philadelphia. an intruder got into a home on east chestnut hill avenue in the middle of the night. he woke up the sleeping couple inside their bedroom then forced a woman to perform a sex act at gunpoint. neighbors were stunned. >> that's something you read in a gross book you buy at the airport. it's really frightening. >> horrific details in the story. police say at one point the intruder set down the gun and that's when the wife grabbed it

and tried to shoot the suspect, but the gun didn't fire. the criminal got away with their character and cell phone and wallet. fire officials in delaware county have ruled a fire that claimed the life of two brothers were a accidentally. 45-year-old stephen denbiand his brother sherman were killed yesterday arch. they believe the blaze started in the freezer in the kitchen. the mother was treated for moke inhalation. trenton ymca is giving kids something to look forward to in this coming summer to take part in a unique camp. they will offer an affordable alternative for working parents in mercer county. camp ymca at ryder university will provide summer camp activities, the week at the camp will cost $225.

not so much this afternoon, tomorrow morning, and tomorrow afternoon, we could see gusts as high as 50 to 60 miles per hour down there jersey shore. when you break that down you look at the winds scale, 40 to 45-mile an hour gusts expected across the far western suburbs, maybe you see broken twigs with that. branches down 45 to 50-mile an hour. 56 to 65 you see entire trees uprooted and power lines down and things like that. you'll see a coastal flood at advisory in effect because we're piling all the water onshore because of an easterly wind. from cape may to atlantic city we're expecting to see minor tidal flooding maybe moderate in some cases. today is a quiet day tomorrow thing go downhill. 52 in philadelphia. areas of foggy and drizzle. millville is foggy and clammy.
