hit-and-run this morning we have a description of the vehicle police are trying to locate. plus, the philadelphia auto show kicks off today in center city, an inside look at what to expect at this year's event. those stories in a moment, but first outside we go to an excited meteorologist chris sowers because it is snowing out there. >> reporter: i got to tell you five minutes ago it was coming down steadily. i looked at the radar, it's a few flurries, but it's nice to see, after all it is january, it's not supposed to be in the 50s and 60s all month. let's flip it over to the radars, it's not a surprise storm or anything like that just a couple of flakes, one small band that broke off from the great lakes, it took the journey over the mountains and planted itself over the delaware and the lehigh valleys. nothing more than just a few flakes. we'll make a quick zoom into the city of philadelphia and the immediate surrounding suburbs. where you're seeing the brighter shade of white is where it's coming down a little bit steadier. i want to stress it is very,

very light. some of the flakes might be large in the lighter white shaded areas, chadds ford and media and the city itself. windchills are in the mid to upper 20s. actual air temperatures are in the mid to upper 30s. a lot of this will not stick. if it does it only lasts for a couple of minutes before it melts. with the wind it feels like 28. 26 in allentown. 29 in millville. 30 degrees in cape may. so forecast for today, morning flurries afternoon sunshine mixed with clouds. it will be breezy with a high of 43 degrees. so blustery windchills over the next couple of days, seasonable temperatures perhaps more snow showers are in the forecast next week. i will be back along with the details, gray, i'll see you in just a few minutes. >> chris, thank you for the update. 9:01 a.m., we're a week into the first week of donald trump's 100 days in office he has fulfilled more campaign

stepped off a trolley with 6 children at 57th and girard street. she was hit by a minivan as she held her 3-year-old grandson in her hand. that woman died from her injuries at the hospital. the toddler had minor injuries. the other five children were badly shaken, but they were not hurt. they are searching for a late model white minivan with significant front end damage. a man was shot ten times outside a north philadelphia bar. it is possible that a text message lured the victim outside on germantown avenue. shot after 11:00 p.m. and is in critical condition. investigators are working to see if the text he received or surveil answer cameras could help find the shooter. two people survived this crash in willingboro, burlington county, the suv hit a tree on beverly rancocas road at 2:00 a.m. both the driver and passenger were taken to the hospital. they are in stable condition. the 9:05.

coming in from syracuse new york. it shows a frightening moment a pickup truck slammed into a mass transit bus. the truck was lodged into the bus. it swerved off the road to avoid stopped traffic. amazingly the truck driver and bus passengers escaped with minor injuries. wow. police near dallas, texas dropped charges against a mother and daughter seen in an arrest video that went viral. jack run craig and her teen daughter were taken into custody a month ago, craig called fort worth police to say a man choked her 7-year-old son for littering. the officer asked craig why she

did not teach her son not to litter, when she said the man had no right to put his hands on her son. the officer responded why not. when craig's daughter intervened, he used a taser to subdue both of them and another person. >> we're listening to the voices we heard. this incident raises very big concerns. >> another person could be arrested for posting the officer's body camera video of the arrest, balls the video showed personal information about the officer. 9:20, oscar nominated actor john hurt died after battling pancreatic cancer. he was known for his roles in the in the midnight express and elephant man and alien. he appeared in several "harry potter" movies. he was 77 years old. former president george

and friday, i'll have the details coming up in ten minutes or so. >> look forward to it, thank you. new information to tell you about, a driver crashed his car in delaware county before running from police. it happened around 3:30 a.m. in media. the driver lost control and drove through a fence before hitting a utility shed. the driver and passenger got out of the car and ran, but officers caught them. both were taken into custody. this morning philadelphia police are searching for what is they describe as a gang of violent criminals. this piece of surveillance videos shows one of the armed robberies. police believe they are responsible for two dozen crimes an may be involved in the shooting of a cab driver. investigative reporter chad perdelli has the exclusive story. >> reporter: police say this is surveillance video from the brazen crew's first robbery. they enter pete's pizza and employees scatter.

they force an employee to the front of the store and steal cash and flee. >> a guy came in with a hood and had it tight to his face. a month later, the crew struck again, this time rich arrest was at the front -- richard was at the front counter getting ready to close up. when i saw what was going on, i told everybody to get out the back. >> reporter: they ran out the back door and they were uninjured. investigators say as many as a dozen teens and young men are part of the crew terrorizing tinicum to philadelphia to the main line. >> they hit pizza stores, wawas and 7-elevens. >> reporter: john walker said this man marquees carter made a mistake and left his phone at the crime he scene. he was arrested last week and charged in three crimes. police believe the 22-year-old is the ring leader. >> they have stolen two cars

from two local dips one in lower merion and one in delaware county. >> reporter: lieutenant john walker believe the gang is responsible for the shooting that left a cab driver in critical condition on january 15. now, police, want help capturing the at large criminals who continue to strike. >> they have not stopped. we had another incident on the 23rd. >> reporter: investigators say when they arrested carter at his girlfriend's house, he was armed with a revolver. chad perdelli channel 6 "action news." >> a new castle county police officer and another driver survived a crash in stanton, delaware. the mangled control car ended up on the front your west newport pike around 7:00 p.m. authorities have not said how badly everybody was hurt. a motorcycle was killed in a crash with a septa bus. it happened last night.

philadelphia police say the 46-year-old biker ran a red light. the biker hit the route 26 bus westbound on olney avenue at rising sun. no injuries reported on the bus. it is 9:35, president donald trump has had a busy first week in office, the 45th president has signed four executive orders and 8 presidential memorandum. four cabinet members were sworn into office. he spoke at homeland security and department of defense. he hosted his first foreign head of state, prime minister of teresa may. the president is showing no signs of slowing down over the weekend. today he is scheduled to speak to several foreign leaders most notably, vladimir putin.

there will be no charges for chris christie in the bridgegate scandal. prosecutors said the state does not believe there was any criminal misconduct. a complaint claimed he violated the state's conduct law when he failed to open the lanes to the girard point the -- george washington bridge. "action news" was in bristol township last night as the support structures arrived for the delaware river bridge. crews say it is not in danger of collapsing. >> it's in good shape, except obviously for this fracture point. again, ardythe once we get it rd it will be back in service for many years to come.

people living near the site of a sinkhole in glenside, montgomery county no longer have to boil their water. aqua pa issued the advisory on brook road. not clear what caused it to form. the city has called off the international cycling classic. >> bikes take over the streets for the philadelphia international cycling classic. this year the tradition is coming to an end. thousands of fans will not be cheering on the riders as they take on grueling task of climbing up the manayunk wall. it is 30 year tradition many say will be missed. >> the regular joe blow going out there and doing the hill on saturday morning, beforehand to the families coming out, lining the raceway on sunday, local racers coming cheering on their heros, it's a good event. >> reporter: the brakes were put on the event due to a lack of

money. the city released a statement saying regrettably we were not able to find enough sponsor interested in covering the 1 million-dollar cost for the bike race. >> i understand after the boston marathon, i do running myself, my dad is a marathon runner, that stuff is scary, i don't like like living in fear. >> reporter: the city said theyd everything they could to save the race, but there was not enough money to cover the costs of security. it admits it needs lots of support to make it happen. >> it's early enough we might be able to save it. maybe they can cut down on security, it's not a event that needs a ton of security, i don't know, we'll see what happens. >> everyone hoping that event is saved, we should mention something similar happened back

>> suv collided with a school bus that happened in california. the suv swerved to a void hitting a car and hit the school bus. the bus driver and four students were not seriously hurt. happening in california, strong winds are being blamed for ripping trees right from the ground and at least four big rigs were knocked on their side. area experienced 60 to 70-mile an hour windy gusts that's intense. several highways were shut down

the sun. that's the kind of afternoon it will be, sun and clouds, maybe a flurry or two. it's been a while we've been above freezing for two weeks. the normal low in philadelphia, 26 degrees, the current temperature, 35. it's another day well above seasonal averages, even though it will feel cooler today. it gives you an idea where we've been over the last few weeks. lots of 50s and upper 30 40s. dewpoint, 22. pressure rising out of the west/southwest at 15 miles per hour. this is what it feels like, even though the air temperatures are in the 30s with the winds it feels like the upper 20s. the air mass seeping in from the north, we'll call it chilly, not cold, not arctic in nature. this air mass is getting us back to normal, it's getting us to where we should be in the upper 30s, low 40s. we'll see a reinforcing shot of
