popping scenes at some of the busiest airports in the wake of president trump's order to ban certain people from the country. hundreds of immigrants, travelers and refugees from seven countries specific are being detained in the u.s. the philadelphia international airport, two syrian families were turned away and legal residents of the u.s. cannot get in. teach rummage tonight but we begin with erin with the latest on the policy and its fall out. >> reporter: day of high profile phone calls monday executive orders from president trump over shadowed by this. >> refugee are welcome here. >> reporter: jfk airport two men from iraq were detained hour after trump signed the executive order banning all refugees for the next four months and suspending entry for people traveling from seven prominently muslim >> these people were granted

they tell us little explanation on what happens next. the family says they were counting down the days to see their extended family members, four adultses, two children boarded a plane and expected to land early this morning, upon landing at philadelphia international airport, they were detained. hours later, they were put on a flight back home. he said each has visas that were approved after a long costly and legal process >> we have gone through the proper channels, paid the fees. supposed to arrive this morning at 7:45. at 8:30 we had a call from the airport authorities saying do not bother to come, we are sending them back. >> in a statement, mayor jim kenney responded saying in part, by several accounts, these families waited months to obtain the proper documentation so they could come to our country legally. the trump administration very well may have just given these

down and killed a woman holding her three-year-old grandson in west philadelphia. bob brooks is at the scene with the details. bob. >> wallet, good evening, we certainly hope whoever was behind the wheel of this minivan they are caught soon. we are hearing that this grandmom and her grandchildren had come to this neighborhood to attend a kid's birthday party. it was as they were crossing this intersection just behind me she was run down by that driver. >> the hunt is on now for the driver of this white minivan. philadelphia police say they're the one responsible for slamming into a 48-year-old grandmother. carrying her three-year-old grandson at the intersection of 57th and girard around 8:00. the victim is catherine brown pictured here. we're told she along with her grandson she was carrying and five other grandchildren were in the neighborhood for a birthday party. >> she has the grandchildren in front of her. her three-year-old grand baby in her arms.

when the cash changed and hit her, she flew her grand baby off. she protected him. >> an eyewitness saw it unfold as the victim and her grandson were crossing 57 is this street. >> he looked like he was trying to make the light but wasn't looking up. he just saw a light i figured he was on his phone. >> brown immediately lost control of her grandson and horrifically dragged by the minivan >> me and couple other neighbors cried stop. >> reporter: police took this surveillance video from her home, she tells us that is a light minivan as it went speeding by. unfortunately it's not clear for us to make out a license plate number. police say there were five other children under the age of 11 that were with the woman. they were unharmed. >> we tried to get the baby out of the street. where is the grandmom? and they said her body was at the end of the block. >> investigators say the three-year-old grandson being carried during the impact is
