good afternoon we are following breaking news in delaware county. police say that a student tried to bring a loaded gun to upper darby high school. two 17-year-olds are under arrest and facing a list of charms. it's wednesday afternoon and i'm rick williams. >> and i'm sara bloomquist. the big story on "action news" is the loaded gun taken from a teenager as he arrived for school this morning. john rawlins joins us live from the upper darby police department where investigators announced new details. >> reporter: some rather bizarre details that is for sure. upper darby has 3600 students and two of them were arrested this morning as the bus as rived at the school, a 12th grader and 11th grader they were arrested after school officials said they were tipped off that one of them would bring a gun to school today. >> so the 12th grade student that got off the bus with the box in his hand. when he was being restrained

from the security officer attempted to hand that off to the 11th grader and at that time. it was inter accepted and i took control of that. >> inside of this black metal box they found this .9 millimeter handgun and marijuana. this happened outside of the sprawling upper darby high school. michael chitwood says that the teen was arrested in 2013 after posted threats against pope francis at the time of his visit to philadelphia. >> he threatened to kill the pope. he got locked up for terroristic threats and harassment. he is back in school. not the school officials but the system. the juvenile justice system. this kid should have been put away for evaluation and now is

he trying to walk into school with a gun. >> reporter: as we say amazing twists as far as the prior threats. the box and the loaded gun were intercepted before school and the pair is still here at the police station and they are juveniles and police hope they can be tried as adults. no word on that yet. back to you. >> thank you. authorities are searching for the young suspects in a violent attack involving several teenage girls. police say that a 17-year-old victim and two friends were attacked by another group of girls in the strawberry mansion section of philadelphia yesterday afternoon along the 3100 block of ridge avenue. fight spilled into the store and a teenager stabbed a girl in the arm. they are asking about the stabbing suspect. the stabbing victim is released from the local hospital. a man suspected of

robbingself people this morning is now behind bars after he ran into a dead end during a police chase. officers caught the suspect and physically carried him to a waiting police van in east philadelphia. that is where adam joseph is live with the details on this arrest. >> reporter: police say that the suspect is responsible for early morning armed robberies and police say that no injuries. there were no injuries during the brief pursuit and they are calling it a successful arrest thanks to the jointests of 15th, 18th and 16th district. chopper 6 hd was over the incident where an armed suspect was hall add way in hand gulfs after a pursuit this morning. >> we were getting reports of robberies and one after the other. >> police were on the lookout for an armed robber that struck three west philadelphia locations at or near bus stops at 6:15 and 6:45 this morning

and then a sergeant on the case in theed something at 72nd and market. >> came upon the individual trying to rob another individual. and the bad guy jumps into his car. >> and the suspect got behind the wheel of this lexus and a short pursuit that ended with a flat tire at this dead end and the suspect ran until his capture a few blocks away and he dropped a gun that was later recovered. the captain the 19th district says that the three victims positively identified the suspect and now police are looking to see if there are more victims. >> everybody that is out there robbing individuals and has no really forethought for human life is dangerous. >> reporter: southwest detectives are now handling the case and no official arrests or charges are made and this is still an ongoing investigation and they are waiting to get a search warrant for the vehicle

that you saw in the vehicle and they are looking for the person that appeared to be the person of at tempted robbery at 52nd and market and anyone else that was a victim this morning. reporting live outside of the 19 and district. annie mccormick. channel 6 "action news." >> thank you for that report. two parents from berks county are charged with the death of their 12-year-old daughter, prosecutors say that jonathan and grace foster denied the child medical care and led to the child's fatal case of pneumon pneumonia. ella foster passed away in november. they told police they do not believe in doctors or medicine because of their final. this are members of the faith tabernacle none denominational church. two different families are dealing with heavy fire damage from an early morning inferno. chopper 6 hd caught the flames from east willard street in kensington and the blaze broke out before 6:00 this morning and police believe it started in a

vacant home and spread to neighboring homes on both sides. the red cross is helping the families that live there as investigators search for a possible cause. turning now to accuweather, milder conditions have arrived for the first day of february, it's mostly cloudy the scene here at the jersey shore as we look live from atlantic city from sky 6 hd meteorologist, david murphy, joins us outdoors with the first check of your forecast. >> we are off to a cloudy start across the region, sunny breaks across the area and stormtracker 6 live double scan picking up a couple of patches of real light precipitation, a couple of light showers down in south jersey. every now and then in atlantic county we get a dasher shade of green and the lighter shade of green should not last much longer and some moisture down south and another batch up north heading towards the lehigh valley and maybe clipping reading. that is light but it's out there. the clouds filled in rather well after earlier sunshine. we'll look at clouds mixing with

some bright being conditions every now and then. and now it appears that the clouds will win the battle today. temperatures however are shooting on up there. up to 49 degrees in philadelphia. 49 in wilmington and 43 in millville. a little cooler in allentown at 46 degrees, but in general a little breezy and temperatures well above average, this is not a bad february 1st forecast we have for you despite the clouds and a breeze. we are looking at the temperature getting up to 51 degrees by 3:00 and we'll probably dip back into the the mid-40s at 6:00 and down to 40 at 10:00 tonight and the overnight lows will get down into the 30s in most of the region. and into the out lying suburbs. if you have stuff to do not a bad day to get out and do it. >> when i step inside we'll let you know how much cooler it gets into the weekend. all ahead in the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast.

police shot and killed a man in california. after he when on a stabbing spree in a busy section of hollywood. the man attacked his first victim near a liquor store and then walked into a jack in the box restaurant and stabbed more people. two people were taken to the hospital in critical condition and the third is expected to survive. it appears that the controversial dakota access pipeline project will be completed following an order from the acting secretary of the army. he ordered the army corps of engineer to allow construction

of the pipeline under a disputed crossing of the missouri river, after president trump signed the executive order to advance the pipeline's approval and will create jobs and less dependance on foreign oil but the standing rock sioux vow to go to court to stop the project. and now they are forcing out dozens of families that settled on palestinian land without permission. it's the largest of the unauthorized settlements on the east bank. former vice president, joe biden, is keeping busy in his post white house days, he is launching a nonprofit organization to promote opportunities it's a platform for biden to advance the platforms including cancer research, helping military

a new lawsuit is seeking help for people that may be dealing with less than ideal internet service. the u.s. attorney general filed

against charter communications for failing to deliver on speed and reliable. and it was previous known as time warner cake. the company failed to address the problems and the network is seeking compensation for customers. volkswagon is playing an additional $1 billion for customers with vehicles. with larger diesel engines, older models that could not be fixed can be bought back or turned in. and get a payment up to $14,000. people with newer cars that can be repaired will be compensated up to 16,000. and the age old practice of swaddling babys being used as a practice for adults. known as adult wrapping to al e alleviate pos tour problems.

well up. one south of philadelphia closer to the shore. that is purging through areas of atlantic county, the southern half of that county and cape may county and the southern half of cumberland county and another batch moving in on allentown and just clipping reading. some of you dealing with rain drops and a lot of you looking at clouds out there. as we look at the action cam at valley forge national park sun getting through earlier this morning when we were out at the national park but as of right now, the clouds are getting thicker and hard to find the sun across the region. temperatures are flies though, 39 degrees in philadelphia, well above average at the noon hour and the winds are picking up and we talked about how it would be a breezy day and a day for a jacket or coat but not bad overall temperature-wise. 46 in allentown and 45 in reading, and up close to 50 in wilmington and philadelphia and 47 in trenton and cooler down south in millville and cape may. satellite shows you how the

cloud cover has filled in this morning, there are the showers and sprinkles and the rest of the day looks to be a clouds and sun mix. and clouds and sun in the lehigh valley. and 45 is the high and jacket weather up in the northern areas and a sprinkle coming through now. at the shore sun and clouds at times breezy with high of 50 and philadelphia we call it 51 this afternoon with a sun and clouds mix and right now the clouds are winning the day and breezy conditions and winds from the west at 12 to 25 miles per hour. if you are headed out it's breezy and cool. tonight we are falling into the 40s and mid-40s by 6:00 and low 40s by 7:00 and the temperatures continue to dropover night and we'll get down to around the freezing mark in philadelphia. look for partly cloudy skies early tonight and clearing in the later overnight hours and a

bit colder with the 32. and some suburbs down into the 20s. and as we look at the month of january boy it's been mild. almost running on the dot 5.5 degrees above average and all of these red days you see on the calendar are days we see number as above average and we have not had much snow out there. look ago head not much snow in the forecast either over the next week. 42 is tomorrow's high and a bit of a breeze blowing in as we look at the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast a look at precipitation, nothing big and 51 and tomorrow sunny and 42 and friday a flurry but that is it. 36 and colder. and for the weekend sunny on saturday and 35. now sunday we get up to 37 with clouds building and later in the afternoon and evening there is the chance of some rain perhaps mixing with some snow showers from philadelphia north, whatever falls will probably be basically snow. but it looks very light just

pick is getting praise on capitol hill by republicans. and cameras catch a suspect breaking foo a philadelphia home and now police want your help to arrest him. we begin with details on breaking fuse out of delaware county. police in radnor have arrested a teacher at the village school in rosemont for the alleged sexual assault of a juvenile student. that nina scott had a relationship with a 16-year-old female student and that alleged relationship lasted 8 months. scott faces several accounts of sexual abuse. and we are following the story of two students on gun charges. michael chitwood announced the details a short time ago. saying one student bought a loaded .9 millimeter gun inside of a metal bus and the student got into a scuffle with the
