2:30 pm
it's february 1st, time for new viral videos "right this minute." students cower under their desks as gunfire breaks out near their school. >> the kids at this moment are terrified. >> how some brave teachers kept everybody safe and calm. a stray dog is spotted with something around its neck. >> it was a pipe. >> the crazy reason it's on there and who finally got it off. a little girl thinks she knows what is in the box. >> because she wants an electric scooter. >> but see why this gift is so much better. plus, the buzz word for your shot to win a new ipad mini. as christian, oli, charity, nick and gayle bring you the best from the web, including a girlfriend about to break bad news to her boyfriend.
2:31 pm
what she shows him that takes a while to sink in. >> if he's a smart man, she won't see me. unfortunately, this is a scene that is becoming all too familiar. this is a video from inside a kindergarten classroom in san juan, puerto rico. all the kids are crouching under their tables hiding because listen to what sounds in the background. [ gunshots ] >> those are gunshots. the kids at the moment are terrified and the teachers are incredible, i must say, at keeping their calm and talking to the kids, telling them to stay calm. they are promising everything is going to be okay. >> is that because of the shooter in the school? or is this happening outside? >> apparently, the shooting was
2:32 pm
coming from a funeral procession. >> i know they're probably not paying attention to the fact that they're in front of the school, but that was just dumb, dumb behavior. >> the video is getting a lot of attention because you can hear the kids crying in the background. you can hear one of them say they want to go with their mom. and the gunshots at this point are still off in the distance, but you can hear them getting closer and closer. and this is the part where everybody really freaks out. >> oh, my gosh! >> now the government of puerto rico and i think people in general are really recognizing and admiring how calm the teachers were. in fact, you can hear them throughout the video calming the kids. >> kids should not have to be put through this. whoever is doing this outside is just selfish and has no thought as to what is going on around
2:33 pm
their small little world. >> the school officials are involved. and they will be providing the kids with therapy and psychologists, but still, you're right, they shouldn't have had to do this in the first place. it's pretty obvious this cat definitely used one of its nine lives. this is in russia. >> oh, the poor kitty is in distress. >> this poor kitty was in distress. firefighters went into a home and found this cat. his name is lola. and he was not breathing. once firefighters get a hold of him, he does get the breath of life again. >> oh, that little burnt paw, that's so sad. >> this cat is taken on to a vet clinic. >> it's killing me. >> it's not killing the cat, the cat survived. here we are in romania. this is a wild vet specialist. for six hour, he's looking for a stray dog.
2:34 pm
they are looking for that creature right there. >> oh, i'm here. >> they have to tranquilize the dog that runs a bit. then the dog has to catch up to where it's fallen. as you get closer, you will notice something. >> is that like a bucket without a bottom? >> no, it was a pipe. they say some guy thought it would be funny to put a plastic pipe around a small dog. but as the dog grew, the pipe began to cut off its circulation. right here they immediately cut this thing off the dog. but you could see the wounds that this dog has. >> yeah, so they tranquilize it so they can remove it and not have the dogfight them because that would cause further injury. >> the dog was taken on to a vet clinic where it was given treatment and is now available for adoption. >> and they put that man in jail? >> well, i hope they find the man that did it. friend time, friend time!
2:35 pm
everybody loves friend time! looking pretty excited here in the middle of this room. and all the kids try to get involved like, no, no, no, that's not your present. this is for paloma. there you see her in the pink dress, that's paloma, and she's pretty sure she knows what is inside that gift. and she's been wanting an electric scooter. who doesn't want a scooter, let'shonest. so she and a small group of friends try to tear it off. the paper comes off easily. eventually they tear it open -- all the kids scream. but paloma there just immediately breaks down. that's her dad, jesus. she hasn't seen him for ages. he's been trying to deal with the somali pirate situation. in fact, over the last months he's been away for seven of them. he pulls paloma into the box and wraps around dad as he gives her
2:36 pm

2:38 pm

2:46 pm
chronological point of view from what we can understand around 11:00 this morning there was a report of a fire, small fire, inside of the facility, and as, first responders went there, it became evident that there was an emergency situation involving a apparently some of the inmates. and at first the authorities did not want to say what it was, they just was calling it an emergency situation. then about 40 minutes ago, the state is confirmed that there is a hostage situation here. according to the associated press talking to the guard's union there must be multiple guards who are involved in the hostage situation from what we know, we do not know exactly where in this large facility this is all playing out, and this is a big place, it has something like 6 miles have of razor wire. it is largest all male prison facility in the state of delaware and houses some 2500 inmates, including, maximum security inmates although it is a range of inmates from what we understand. there is a maximum security

unit here for people basically , could not be kept in a facility other than a maximum fat it is, fat it is, right now we are in the location, remote from it, adjacent to it but remote to the actual center, this is where we are told there will be briefings from officials that has not yet happen. this facility is, sprawling, built in 1971 to house just 400 people and grown, it is now about 2500 people. all we know what the state has confirmed a hostage situation and again, according to the the associated press those hostages involved, guard here at the facility. but beyond that we don't know. we don't know what demand. we don't know if there are any demand. we don't know how many people might be hostages or hostage takers. all that is unknown as we say the state is keeping a lid on things at this point this time >> all right, john as we continue to take a live look right thousand it is worth denoting this all began apparently with fire fighters being called to the scene's reports that smoke, they were
2:48 pm
held, on stand by, when it became rather apparent that there was a larger, situation, at play here and of course that situation as we have been reporting to you, is the the hostage situation, involving at least, well, several guard, at some point today. we don't know who those guards are, where all of this is unfolding but as you look live here, you can see, a group of prison staff is believed gathered outside, one of the facility. we have watch them move in and out, at one point we also, are being told by the associated press that several people were surrounding a stretcher, at one point and running as they pushed that stretcher across the prison compound. it is not clear if the person was on that stretcher or responding to some kind of an injury, inn identify but people remain on the scene and they are wearing riot gear to john's point thinks a very, very large facility, 2500 inmates, and minimum, and maximum security inmates, also

okay, let's cut to the chase. i don't want to waste your time. i don't want to waste mine. i know that you jumped on the "valentin is evil" bandwagon. good for you, good for you, but... thanks to lulu falconeri, everybody in town thinks my husband's a monster and that he has some sinister agenda. let me tell you something. nothing could be further from the truth. we want to live our lives in peace. do you understand? yeah. first of all, can i just say that whatever problems i have with valentin, i have no ill will towards you. okay, but then, why did you decide to barge in on us while we were having dinner? why did you decide to do that? why are you harassing my husband? why are you obsessed with my husband?! i'm not obsessed with him! va is obsessed with me. i'm not in the mood for a screaming match, so if you're going to start making threats about taking away my daughter, i'd really rather we communicate through our lawyers. maybe the lawyers are the problem.
