in a presuper bowl interview on fox news the president said vice president pence will head a special commission to investigate voter fraud. >> let me just tell you, it doesn't have to do with the vote, although that's the end result. has to do with the registration. when you look at the registration and you see dead people that have voted. when you see people that are registered in two states that voted in two states. when you see other things. when you see illegals, people that are not citizens, and they're on the registration rolls. look, bill. we can be babies. but you take a look at the registration, you have illegals, dead people, you have this -- it's really a bad situation. it's really bad. >> president trump did not directly answer a question about whether he has evidence of voter fraud, only suggesting that he's seen voter registration records suggesting widespread voter fraud. election officials in both parties say they've seen no such evidence. >> he spent the weekend criticizing that federal appeals court judge who issued the

temporary restraining order on his travel ban. >> he said that judge is putting the country "in peril." it comes as the president tweeted out to followers, enjoy the super bowl and then we continue make america great again. but not all americans are feeling great. here's abc's david wright. >> reporter: a legal showdown with tearful repercussions. >> i didn't know how long it's going to take me to see my mother. >> reporter: families torn apart by trump's abrupt targeted travel ban racing to reunite, not sure how long the door will remain open. trump warned, i have instructed homeland security to check people coming into our country very carefully. the courts are making the job very difficult." the fate of trump's controversial policy shutting the doors to visa holders from seven predominantly muslim countries now in the hands of the ninth circuit court of appeals. the appeals court rejected the

administration's plea for an emergency ruling that would have reinstated the executive order. but a three-judge panel is set to review the issue. the department of justice argues the federal judge in washington who lifted the ban improperly second-guessed the president's national security determinations, overstepping his judicial authority. democrats are pushing back on that. >> the president is not a dictator. the framers of our constitution wanted a strong congress for the very reason that most of these kinds of things should be done within the scope of lawmaking. >> reporter: trump appears to see it differently. tweeting, "just cannot believe a judge would put our country in such peril. if something happens, blame him and court system. people pouring in. bad." even some republicans are expressing discomfort about the tone the president has set. especially with that tweet disparaging this so-called judge. >> i'll be honest, i don't

understand language like that, we don't have so-called judges, we don't have so-called senators, we don't have so-called presidents. >> reporter: there's mounting criticism of this exchange from trump's interview with fox news bill o'reilly. >> do you respect putin? >> i do respect him. >> do you, why? >> i respect a lot of people. but that doesn't mean i'm going to get along with them. >> putin's a killer. >> a lot of killers, we got a lot of killers, you think our country's so innocent? >> reporter: senator marco rubio blasted back, when has a democratic political activist been poisoned by the gop or vice versa? we are not the same as putin." vice president mike pence insists there's no moral equivalency but he told george stephanopoulos there's good reason to improve relations with moscow. >> russia has a common interest in confronting radical islamic terrorism, especially isis. if we have opportunities to work together, i think the president is looking for an opportunity to begin that relationship anew. >> reporter: the president is

by angry neighbors screaming "murderer." karina vatrano was jogging when she was raped and strangled in queens, new york, last august. her mother relieved an arrest has been made. >> the demon must get his justice. >> reporter: detectives followed hundreds of leads in an exhaustive search. just last week they approached lewis for a dna test they claimed tied him to the crime scene. >> karina helped us identify this person. she was dna under her nails. she had dna on her back and the cell phone. >> reporter: police say lewis has given them more details. >> lewis was interviewed by detectives and made detailed incriminating statements and admissions. charges are now pending. >> reporter: in a chilling twist, police say that last may, months before the killing, a 911 call was made complaining lewis was behaving suspiciously in the same park where the murder took place. her father taking comfort that a suspect is now in custody. >> i'm not going to say it's a

that here comes the brady magic. and sure enough, they tie it in the closing minutes, go into overtime. and tom brady, because of these overtime rules in the nfl, he doesn't even give the falcons a chance to touch the ball. he gets them down the field, touchdown, they score, and that's number five. this was an unbelievable game, an unbelievable night. people were shocked, thought it was unbelievable at the beginning, because the falcons were up so much. what, the patriots about to get blown out? not to be so. this was an incredible night that no one could have predicted, but history made once again by tom brady and the patriots picking up his fifth ring, the first quarterback to ever do it. guys, i just said a lot, but trust me, a lot of us are speechless after that. >> losing his voice too. >> yeah, i believe t.j. is a falcons fan. he spent some time in atlanta. you can understand why he's losing his voice, man. >> all the excitement for him.
