the stadium with all the highlights from last night's dramatic showdown. how are you holding up, t.j.? >> reporter: i'm holding up well. you make a legitimate argument last night for going to bed, to your knowledge the tv off midway through the third quarter. it looked like a blowout and the game was over. if you did go to bed, you would have missed what has become a consensus greatest super bowl ever played. history in houston. >> patriots win the super bowl! what a comeback. >> reporter: the new england patriots capped the greatest comeback in super bowl history with the first overtime win in a super bowl. james white lifted the pats to a 34-28 victory by punching in his third touchdown of the night. >> what an effort by james white who's had himself a heck of a ball game. >> reporter: tom brady now has a record fifth super bowl title. he was overcome with emotion after the win, embracing his coach, bill belichick.

>> touchdown, atlanta. >> reporter: for most of the night it appeared the game would be a blowout. the atlanta falcons dominated through the second quarter and led 21-3 at halftime. >> intercepted. >> there's not much going right for new england. ♪ can't read my poker face >> reporter: sure, gaga raised the roof at halftime. the patriots raised their game in the second half. >> touchdown! >> tom brady has rallied the patriots from a 21 point or more deficit to win a game three times. >> reporter: brady connected with receiver julian edelman for this incredible catch to keep the fourth quarter drive alive. edelman credited his bromance with brady. >> i knew i had a good feel on it. it feels good, i'll tell you that right now. >> reporter: the patriots ultimately scored 25 consecutive

points. this clutch two-point conversion tied the game with just 57 seconds left, forcing the first overtime in super bowl history. brady then marched his team down the field to set up this two-yard touchdown run for the win. >> if there was any doubt coming into this game about tom brady and where he ranks. >> reporter: brady's wife went nuts. he dedicated the win to his mom who was able to attend her first patriots game following a serious illness. >> it was a full contingent of support. >> reporter: after the moment many thought could get a bit awkward, nfl commissioner roger goodell had to present the vince lombardi trophy to the patriots. goodell was booed loudly. those boos quickly turned to

cheers as the now four-time super bowl mvp brady hoisted the trophy. >> i'm so proud of our guys, everyone back in boston, new england, we love you. you've been with us all year. we're bringing this sucker home! >> reporter: matt ryan reacted emotionally to what some are calling the biggest choke of all time. >> it's hard to find words tonight. we just can't get it done today which was disappointing. >> reporter: all right, so brady won the game. he won a fifth ring. he won the trophy. but brady also lost last night. he lost something pretty important, his jersey. listen to this interaction between brady and owner robert kraft after the game in the locker room. >> someone stole my game jersey. >> you better look online. >> reporter: all right, guys. this is serious.

times. i mean, a lot of guys don't get an opportunity to make it to the playoffs at that so i don't take it for granted and i just want to make the most of the opportunity that i got tonight. i was inactive for the first game. i saw what it took from those guys and i just wanted to perform my best. >> every player with the patriots said the same thing, it is a team, it's truly a team. whatever your role is, one week you may be inactive. one week you may be the star of the game. it seemed like everybody has embraced the belichick system. >> yeah. we embrace it. you learn from the first day you step into the building you learn what coach belichick wants from you. he challenges you as a man, as a player. some guys aren't going to like it, some guys will. we play for one another, play for your coaches, play for your teammates. it helps us get victories. >> you got 25 points. did you see this coming? was there some doubt? what's going on in the huddle

when you're down by 25 points? >> tom kept us motivated on the sidelines, devin mccourty got us motivated on the sideline. we didn't play well in the first half. we came out in the second half, offense put up points. we'll be in position to win the football game. they gave us even more energy and i think it helps that we rode that wave for the rest of the game. >> like you said, the strip sack kind of changed the momentum of the game but could you feel some of the air being sucked out of atlanta, was there a change in her temperament on the field? >> we had the ball for 20 minutes as an offense in the first half so we knew they would be pretty tired coming into the second half. we wanted to continue to make them tired. we were tired too but at the same time we put all the extra conditioning in throughout the year, all the hard work you put in, it's for this moment right here. guys leave it all on the line and did whatever it took to get a victory. >> game goes into overtime. you win the coin toss. you get the ball.

you're in the huddle. what does tom brady say to you guys when you're in the huddle to start that final drive? >> honestly he didn't say much at all. just continue to do what you're doing. we've been playing well. just continue to work hard and continue to string this drive together. he didn't really say much. guys just wanted to go out there and execute. we got the ball in overtime and wanted to put it away right then and there. >> when you scored the touchdown you get up and kept on running. you knew it was over, right? >> yeah, i knew it was over. i had no idea they were challenging it. i thought i got it for sure. i really had no clue, but, like i said, i just ran away. legarrette, one of my best friends on the team was right there to celebrate with me. it all feels surreal, still didn't feel real right now. >> i saw you on the podium. that's a moment of looking at the sea of confetti falling. your teammates had good things to say about you. legarrette blount said he would have voted for you for mvp and

new court rulings could come as early as tonight. cecilia vega tracking it all. good morning, cecilia. >> reporter: good morning. this house could be on its way to a supreme court showdown. that travel ban is hardly the only controversy this morning. the president under fire for those comments about vladimir putin from even those in his own party. the president and first lady hosting a super bowl bash in florida, complete with cheerleaders and a marching band. but it is an interview he did with fox's bill o'reilly before the big game that has ignited a big controversy. president trump coming to vladimir putin's defense, saying he respects the russian leader. >> i do respect him. >> do you? why? >> well, i respect a lot of people but that doesn't mean i'm going to get along with them. he's a leader of his country. i say it's better to get along with russia than not. and if russia helps us in the fight against isis, which is a major fight, and islamic terrorism all over the world, major fight, that's a good thing. will i get along with him, i

have no idea. >> he's a killer though. putin's a killer. >> a lot of killers, got a lot of killers. you think our country's so innocent? >> reporter: there was bipartisan backlash, republicans pouncing. >> there is no moral equivalentsy between the united states of america, the greatest freedom-loving nation in the history of the world, and the murderous thugs that are in putin's defense of his cronyism. >> reporter: and now this morning, a battle on another front, travel restrictions still on hold, and foreign nationals from those seven majority muslim countries now entering the u.s., president trump angrily responding. firing off tweets sunday saying, just cannot believe a judge would put our country in such peril. if something happens blame him and court system. people pouring in. bad. in another tweet the president called him a so-called judge. this is the judge drawing president trump's ire, james row bart. >> the state has met its burden of demonstrating that it faces

immediate and irreparable injury. >> reporter: row bart agreed with the washington state attorney general that businesses, universities, and the state's tax base would be damaged by trump's order. >> the order is illegal and it's causing serious immediate harm to our states -- state institutions and to our people. >> reporter: but the trump administration says the states and the court have overreached their powers. >> this is an area where congress has delegated authority to the president to make these determinations. it's the president that gets to make the determinations and the court doesn't have authority to look behind those determinations. >> reporter: "snl" having a field day, now taking aim at white house press secretary sean spicer. yeah, spicer calling that skit cute and funny but he says he would rather be focusing on issues. the big issue right now of course that travel ban, nearly 100 tech companies from apple to google filing a court brief and now madeleine albright and john kerry are weighing in, saying

the ban harms national security. >> let's look at the law and the politics with dan abrams and matthew dowd. dan, what is at issue today? they could make a ruling as early as tonight just on whether or not this travel ban should stay on hold. >> that's right. district court rules temporary restraining order. no one has decided on the ultimate merits of the law yet. the question is do they need to immediately stop it. that's what this judge did nationwide. so now the government is appealing to the apell at court, the ninth circuit court of appeals there, saying we would like that particular ruling overturned. so all we're fighting about for now is the limited question of do we need to stop it immediately as we wait to evaluate the broader issues involved. >> even that can go to the supreme court. >> absolutely. in either case if the ninth circuit -- however the ninth circuit rules, expect some sort of appeal. the big question is does the supreme court take it. everyone seems to think it's obviously going to go to the supreme court.

yeah, it's obviously going to get to the supreme court but that doesn't mean the supreme court is going to agree to hear the case. >> it takes five votes to hear the case. okay, dan abrams. >> you've had an opposing view about that but cecilia vega in that report, of course we saw the twitter attacks continuing with the federal judge. >> i'll never oppose dan abrams oppose me on legal stuff. as i was watching the super bowl, i was thinking about a whole new group of patriots, founders of the constitution who i think would be looking at the last 72 hours in befuddlement and watching the checks and balances and a lack of understanding about what our constitutional values are in this. i think it's amazing to me that donald trump has criticized a federal judge who was appointed by george w. bush who is a republican constitutionalist more than vladimir putin. >> could those comments about vladimir putin, could those hurt him? >> i think they already are. i think what you're seeing for

the first time, the break in the republican wall, i think they have been united behind him in the first part of his presidency but as you watched george's interview yesterday with senator sass and other republicans, a huge amount of republicans are coming out and saying you cannot make a moral kwiflsy between vladimir putin and the united states of america and i think it's upset everybody from across partisanship. >> it does appear that way. all right you two, thank you very much. now let's get to ginger about this weather. oh, my gosh, it snowed in seattle. it's actually a really big deal because it hasn't happened in almost three years. you see the pictures here. some of the suburbs had up to ten inches and it is still snowing. so winter storm warnings still in place. you can see a lot of those heavy branches, likely a lot of quick look at the severe threat for today, local weather 30 seconds.

there in your hometown and seeing that game last night. >> you know what, being here, like you said earlier, they did a great job of hosting everyone at the super bowl, a lot of fun around town, great food, gained some weight, need to go on a diet when i get back to new york. but the game was incredible. it gave you -- you thought it was a blowout. so many people said this is not what we expected, this is not the patriots team that we usually see from bill belichick, especially in the super bowl. and from a very young and hungry atlanta team, very athletic and fast and aggressive, and to see a team be able to adjust the way the patriots have been able to adjust and were able to do yesterday is just remarkable. and for two guys standing here who played in this league, when you're down by that much in a game of this magnitude, it takes something special to come back. and rob ninkovich, a linebacker for the patriots, gave up a touchdown earlier in the game, and i said to him after the game, i said, boy -- he goes, you know, michael, it was tough,

there and it was a crazy game. >> so has this given you a little taste of what you may want to do in the future, young lady? >> yeah. this experience has been such a great lesson and everything and working with all these different staff members that are just so great and supportive. it's been really fun. sports reporting is pretty cool. >> yeah, it is. as you got to find out. sophie, i'd love to know, i think we'd all love to know, you got to meet so many incredible people. who was your favorite interview? >> well, you know, i had met eric barry before. he had come to my school. that was such a big deal for me. then i saw him at nfl honors again and he came up to me, gave me a big old hug. i was like, oh, i love eric barry. >> sophie, obviously there are glamorous sides to this job but there are also some difficult parts to it, too. what was the toughest part of being kid correspondent? >> all right, now i have to be honest with you.

love story of the 20th century and then he sent me photographs of them and i didn't know who they were. i looked at these faces and i started to cry. i don't know what it was, something touched me and continued to touch me through the making of the movie. >> that's what people are going to feel when watching this film. when i look back at what this is what people are seeing, it's like you all were meant to play this role together and you knew this woman was the one to play it? >> i did. i've been a fan of rosamund's for a while. she's such an enigmatic actress and you never know what her performance is going to be and that's what i felt we needed with this. this prince falls in love with this woman who he cannot resist and she embodies that. >> do you want to take a look? does everybody want to see a bit of this? okay, this is a moment where you proposed. >> thinking about my responsibilities, there's so
