and the big concern now is all of that slush on the streets could freeze as temperatures plunge tonight. it is thursday night and the big story on "action news" tonight is the biggest snow storm of the year. the actual event went largely according to expectations and now it's time to clean it up. we have meteorologist, cecily tynan standing by with the latest from accuweather, and "action news" reporter sara bloomquist having fun with the kids in fairmount park and john rawlins in oaks and gray hall in allentown. gray lets start with you on hamilton boulevard in allentown. >> reporter: hi jim, well this area got 6 to 7 inches of snow and the snow has stopped falling but the repnants of the snow left behind you see here the piles of snow will be eye sores for sometime. thursday morning old man winter gave us a friendly reminder that he is still here. >> it was treacherous this morning. the 4 or 5 inches.

people are going up and down the roads slow and penndot does an exlengths job on our roads here. >> some say it was a nuisance and others say it was just a tease. >> i'm a winter person a snow person, i want more. if it's going to snow i want it to snow i want it to be epic snow. this isn't too epic but we are making the most of it. >> crews did a great job plowing the roads and the headache came in the way of shoveling, cleaning off the cars and clearing the driveways. you see the snow is gone it's past us. earlier this morning it was pretty heavy. but as you can see it's gone now. now it's time to come out and do some work. >> if you were fooled by wednesday's spring like temperatures in the 60s. let this serve as your wake-up call that winter is not over yet. >> you don't want to see a blizzard like last year? >> maybe not that bad but could

use a good blizzard make everyone stay inside for just a day or two. >> all right janice no blizzard for me. and we want to remind you if your car is sitting around wipe that car free of any snow we don't want you causing any accidents live in allentown, gray hall channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. lets switch live to oaks and "action news" reporter john rawlins overlooking 422, what was the impact of the storm there? >> it was a miserable morning in the western suburbs it lasts three or four hours and was proceeded overnight by rain or sleet. two things became apparent with the m when it hit treated pavement it turned to slush and people stayed home and traffic was light and it helped plow crews get their jobs done even on u.s. 422. the main roads are good it's okay. >> was behind the salt truck.

and slush to get to work. cleanup crews were hard at work clearing the sidewalks near the trenton transit center before the storm cleared out and the sun came out. and newcastle county delaware just enough snow to make a pretty scene around the green and snow covered the grass and greens and benches and for the most part the streets remain clear. cecily tynan is live at the big board. substantial amounts of snow followed by fierce winds how did we match up with expectases. >> in philadelphia and areas south way below expectations winter storms have last minute surprises, in this case it was the speed. a lot of moisture out ran the cold air and the storm system is now east of cape cod they are gettinzzard conditionn parts of massachusetts and what we get behindm is wrap around winds. philadelphia underachiever but allentown 7.1 inches.

and aun rosy posted this photo saying that maddie when and shoveled out the sidewalks for her nana so way to go maddie. didn't have too many shoveling in philadelphia with less than three inches of snow and man the cold air did move in. yesterday at 3:00 we reached a record high of 66 degrees and the same time today with the windchill it felt like 15 degrees feel can 51 degrees cooler today than yesterday. a tail of two seasons and right now the windchill prettiy brutal. and wilmington 12 and atlantic city airport 11 and and poconos got 9 inches of snow but the windchill 7 degrees below zero right now. satellite 6 along with action radar showing the storm system a fast mover east of cape cod and they will blizzard conditions overpass mass and more than a foot of snow. continue its pull out
