security system. he estimates that h he lost thousands of dollars because he had to close down for the day. you about he promises he will be open tomorrow. reporting in south philadelphia, gray hall, "channel 6 action news." the search is on tonight for the gunman who shot two security guards at a vfw post in willingboro last night. it was ladies' night and police say a dispute involving a male guest led the guards to eject a man at 11:30. witnesses say that man returned with a gun and shot the guards. william matthews jr. suffered a gunshot wound to the temple. edgar peterson was shot in the arm. both are expected to be released from the hospital sometime tonight. an organization called strike for democracy organized demonstrations in cities across america today and that included philadelphia. "action news" reporter john rawlins is live outside the municipal services building across from city hall. john, there's been a lot of the protests recently. what are organizers hoping to accomplish?

>> reporter: well, first of all, jim, i have moved. we were at city hall or right outside city ho hall a short tie ago. now we are at broad and spring garden following some protests. you said the umbrella group, the strike for democracy has had all move different events around the big cities of america today including here. the particular march that we're going to show you right now and we should be seeing the chopper hd right now, chopper 6 h.d. is known as the black resistance march. it was put together by the coalition for real justice. they were the group that was organized outside the msb building earlier, about 4:00. they were there for about knife minutes. theyen just shortly after 5:00 this evening, a group of them went in and blocked traffic in that -- the lanes between city hall and msb. then they took s to the streets. what you're seeing right now is they have been marching north on broad street. they stopped here at spring garden street. then they passed the vine

lorraine hotel. they're making their way north. we don't know where. when we talked to organizers earlier, they would not tell us where they were going to be marching. they're certainly marching toward several university at this point although whether they intend to get that far, you should be looking at some video right now of that event at about 5:00 when quite by surprise and without announcement, they moved out into the street there on jfk boulevard between msb and city hall. that seemed to take a number people by surprise. the police surrounded them. there were a number of bike police officers who surrounded the group and followed them as they went east and then north up broad street which is where they are right now. if you cut back to that helicopter, they are continuing to move north from what i understand. they say this protest is not only about the trump administration and his policies but about other factors here, specific to philadelphia. they're not happy with a number of things. they don't like the frank rizzo statue that is still there at msb. they also don't like the

stop-and-frisk situation here in philadelphia. and they had some harsh words for mayor kenney today and his policies there as far as stop and frisk is concerned. but at this point, they're still moving north on broad street. they have disturbed traffic. that's for sure. if you're driving in center city or north along broad street tonight, be prepared. live at spring garden and broad street, john rawlins, "channel 6 action news." jim? >> thank you. police have arrested two 14-year-old boys. they say assaulted an officer trying to break up a fight. that incident happened at 20th h philadelphia just after noon today. the officer was not hurt. philadelphia police continue to probe the deadly shooting of two brothers late last night in the east mt. airy section of philadelphia. "action news" reporter vernon odom is live at police headquarters. vernon, what do lawmen know about this? >> reporter: not a whole lot, jim. this is a genuine whodunit according to police sources. the police are not even sure

exactly what the motive is here. they need the public's help to solve this year's homicides numbers 40 and 41. the bullet holes in the outside wall of this east mount hairy apartment house speak loud and clear. multiple shots fired around 10:45 last night. two residents of the building were murdered here. on the sidewalk at easts upal and hoyer. it horrified numbers. >> two guys were arguing so i was getting up to see and then i heard bop bop bop so i had to jump on my bed and jump on my kids and and lay on top of them. >> reporter: two young males lay diagnose. 24-year-old samier and his brother 23-year-old raheem. >> very rarely you hear it. if you do hear gunshots, it's way in the distance or you're mistaking it. >> reporter: neighbors say the two brothers just moved here about a month ago. >> i don't know them. i just know they were new in the neighborhood. that's it. and i would see them like on

their cell phones talking like outside their house. >> reporter: the two brothers were killed with a semiautomatic handgun hit multiple times. police say the two victims did have arrest records for drug so they're see if anything that can lead them somehow to their killers. two men were seen fleeing after the gunfire. >> it gives us additional leads to follow up on to determine if any part of their past may have had any influence in last night's shooting. but at this point, we're leaving no stones unturned to try to determine who's responsible for this horrific crime. >> reporter: jim, there was another murder around 1:00 this morning bringing philadelphia's total this year to 42. remember, $20,000 rewards are out here for key information leading to arrests and convictions. i'm vernon odom, "channel 6 action news." at police headquarters. in center city. >> vernon, thank you. an overturned tractor-trailer blocked traffic in old city this afternoon. the accident happened on the ramp from the ben franklin bridge to i-95.

the driver of the truck was hurt. pennsylvania state police have not released the extent of those injuries or have they said what caused the crash. city officials got an up-close look at the construction taking place in the north philadelphia library today. mayor jim kenney was among those taking a hardhat tour of the lillian marrero library. the branch has been undergoing a makeover since march. when it reopens in the fall, it will include a living room, a space for teenagers, expanded bilingual resources, and a computer bar. the philadelphia free library is among six organizations to receive grants in the city's call for ideas program. mayor kenney announced the winners at city hall today. the program awards grants to organizations and start-ups to boost job creation. other winners include a group that teaches computer coding to students and a center that connects immigrants to employers. coming up on "action news" tonight, thon weekend is here.

twhel is different. newtown township police put a goat in temporary lockup this morning. somebody found the animal on eagle road and dropped it off at the station. the department posted this picture on their facebook page in hopes of tracking down the owner. the goat's owner did come forward this afternoon. we turn our attention to state college and penn state university. thon is just beginning at this hour. maybe the most extraordinary student run event on any college campus in america. that's saying a lot but it's probably true. right in the middle of it all is "action news" reporter bob brooks at the bryce jordan center. bob, a lot of energy in that arena. >> reporter: jim, absolutely.

we told you a moment or two ago -- we told you a moment or two ago about these protests that have been going on today in philadelphia. we are now live over broad and jeraired where protesters -- gerard, where protesters -- that flame you see is an american flag. so this is in the middle of the intersection. this has been called strike for democracy today. but there had been more than a few specific groups with their own particular agendas. and right now, at least a couple of these demonstrators are burning the american flag. let's go to the philadelphia phillies' first full workout today in clearwater.

this weekend. get outside. it's not going to feel like february. that's for sure. stormtracker 6 live double scan showing we have dry conditions out there on this friday night. and what a beautiful sunset. the sun now setting at 5:40 and teebor posted this on my facebook page from avalon, new jersey, on the eve of the polar bear plunge in sea isle. the ocean temperature, he wanted me to tell everyone is 39 degrees. but the air temperature should be in the 50s. so all in all, pretty nice conditions for the polar plunge. we are fast-forwarding right this spring for the -- to spring for this weekend. pry and saturday -- saturday and sunday, temperatures in the 50s. this is about 20 degrees above average and these are the average temperatures for mid to late april. so certainly not feeling like february. and sunday should be the warmest. this is future tracker early sunday afternoon. 65 degrees already in philadelphia. should hit a high of about 67 degrees. only one degree shy of our record. so a real big temperature turnaround from right now.

it's chilly out there. 42 degrees in philadelphia. allentown, trenton, 41. the poconos, 29. cape may, 37. and wilmington, 39. satellite 6 and action radar showing high pressure really dominating the weather. this is what will bring us a good amount of sunshine. there is a disturbance near new orleans and that will toss a few clouds our way tomorrow. but really it's all about the temperatures. tonight, though, for your friday night, you definitely do need a winter coat. a few clouds, not as cold as last night, but a chill in the air. 32 in philadelphia. allentown, 27. cape may, 32. and wilmington and trenton, 31 degrees. and this weekend, we can thank the jetstream way up to the north, this classic southeast ridge. temperatures running 15 to 25 degrees above normal in the gulf coast through the midwest right into the mid-atlantic, and we are getting into record territory. tomorrow forecasting a high of 64 degrees. that's five degrees shy of the record high set back in 2011. sunday, though, it's going to be

close, calling for forecast high of 67 degrees. the record high, 68 set back in 1948. so we could be tying some record highs on sunday. so the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast, tomorrow, mostly sunny skies. spring fever. a high of 64 degrees. increasing clouds late in the day tomorrow. really cloudy on saturday night. but by sunday, the clouds erode back to sunshine. and near record warmth. a high of 67 degrees. now, sunday night, a backdoor front rolls through. this get that northerly flow off snow pack up to the north. close to ten degrees above normal on president's day. al high of 53 degrees on sunday. mostly sunny and breezy. tuesday, though, the clouds roll in very quickly. the highs drop down to 49 degrees. is showers tuesday night into wednesday morning. by the afternoon, some sunshine is back. it's mild again. 55 degrees.
