there's a disturbing trend in american debt it is increasing at an alarming debt. household debt climbed to $12.5 trillion. that's according to federal reserve of new york. household debt bloomed in 2016. it's close to the record high reached back in 2008. the fed said there's fewer delinquencies. there were fewer canceled flights and lost bags last year the numbers are from the air travel consumer reports put out by the department of transportation. canceled flights were down to their lowest level in 22 years. 1.17% scrubbed last year. they had the lowest levels of lost or mishandled luggage since

medic 37 which operates out of the same firehouse as ladder 19 rushed him to the hospital university of pennsylvania. the firefighter had just come back from an accident on the schuylkill expressway. the firefighter is in stable condition that's according to a captain. an 8-year-old girl remains in the hospital after a disturbing attack. police in collingdale, delaware county say she was stabbed in the head with a butcher knife. a neighbor is in jail. dann cuellar has all the details. >> reporter: did you stab that baby. 21-year-old bashir had nothing to say. she had to cover her face. >> sick, i don't care what you're arguing about, what you're fighting about, you have a baby in the mix and you're going to pull a butcher knife out. >> reporter: it began on mcdade boulevard. a erie light shown from the

second floor where the fight broke out. the suspect was not happy with the 8-year-old daughter who was babysitting for a toddler. a neighbor who lives downstairs said he was asleep and awoke to the nightmare. >> she stabbed the girl with a knife. >> reporter: police arrived on the scene with a man holding a girl with a towel wrapped around her head. >> she is a four inch damp in her -- gash in her head it's deep and wide. >> reporter: neighbors who did not want to speak on camera say the police were called to the suspect's apartment so many times in the past they practically live there. recently she was chasing her boyfriend down the street with a hammer in the middle of a snowstorm.

thon raises money for the fight against pediatric cancer. bob brooks was in the thick of it all last night, he has more. >> reporter: at 6:00 p.m. sharp thon 2017 got moving. since then they have not stopped. 703 dancers, countless other volunteers all ages all working together dancing for the next 46 hours straight to raise funds for families and kids battling childhood cancer. it's total teamwork from the volunteers making snacks from behind the scenes. >> peanut butter and jelly. >> reporter: to the little kids bravely fighting cancer cooling them off with squirt guns. >> my daughter is spectacular, they don't want to break from their homes and hospitals. >> reporter: 11-year-old lane has battled kid flee cancer

since he was -- kidney cancer since he was one-year-old. >> we lost so many friends along the way, we meet and grieve with them, but where can you come together for something so devastating. >> it's crazy what the dancers do for kids who need help. >> reporter: everyone loves an effort like this for a cause so great. last year alone, thon raised $9.7 million. okay another look at how incredible thon really is. the fact there they raised this money goes to a charity called four diamonds distributes the money to families of children battling cancer and penn state children's hospital. the song they are playing it's all about love, i can tell you there's a ton of love going on here thon 2017. reporting live at the bryce
