sections of 138 turning into a muddy swamp. firefighters struggling to free stranded drivers. the driver in this car under able to get out before the floodwaters rushed in. another man electric you -- electrocuted by downed power lines. massive trees crushing cars, this man barely escaping in time. in huntington beach this man fighting against the heavy winds and rains trying to walk along the pier. during the height of the storm, 78,000 customers lost power in los angeles county alone. >> that was abc's marcy gonzalez with that report. back here in the area, a philadelphia firefighter collapsed overnight outside his firehouse. he is in stable condition at the hospital of university of pennsylvania. we're waiting to learn what happened here. we know the firefighter had just come back from an accident on the schuylkill expressway. medic 37 which works out of the

firehouse got him to the hospital. an early-morning fire forced the evacuation of the villanova school of business, there was an electrical fire in one of the rooms before 1:00 a.m. students were forced to evacuate as crews put the fire out. no injuries were reported. the cause is under investigation. officer arrested at least two protesters for assaulting philadelphia police during a demonstration last night, chopper 6 hd above the scene as protesters crossed broad street and cecil b. moore avenue. the officers were injured when they hit with pepper spray. not far from that scene, protesters were seen burning an american flag at broad and girl. a group called democracy is protesting against the victimizing of people by the trump administration. >> we shouldn't be just protesting about trump, but all

the ieshes of issues that issues that predate trump's election. 9:05. the dance marathon at penn state in full swing. you're looking at a live picture as someone is interviewing someone about their experience at thon. this is happy valley thon2017, they need dancing shy of 15 1/2 hours, they are going strong there. thon, the annual event to raise money against pediatric cancer. bob brooks was there in the thick of it all, he filed this report. >> reporter: at 6:00 p.m. sharp thon 2017 got moving. since then they have not stopped. 703 dancers, countless other

volunteers, they are working together to dance to raise funds for families and kids battling childhood cancer. it's volunteers making snacks behind the scenes to the little kids bravely fighting cancer cooling them off with squirt guns and parents are here with support. >> my daughter is spectacular. >> it gives them a break from their homes and hospitals. >> reporter: 11-year-old lane was battled pediatric kidney cancer since he was 1-year-old. >> we've lost so many friends along the way, we come and grieve with them, but at the same time we celebrate because you're dealing with something so devastating. >> reporter: it's crazy what the dancers do for kids who need help. i just crazy.

and tomorrow. it's been an believable mild weather on the heels of an unbelievable mild winter last year. outside the snow in january that's the only winter weather we've had. 44 in philadelphia. 35 in allentown. poconos closing in on 40 degrees at this hour. slightest breeze out of the south at 5 to 10 miles per hour. if there's a complaint that will be it, there will be a slight breeze 5 to 15 miles per hour. outside of that, this is a peck peck -- picture-perfect day. high, thin clouds from the southwest, today mostly sunny. the clouds roll in overnight tonight. the other weather to speak of across the lower 48 is in california. los angeles picked up one to three inches of rain in the last 24 hours.
