double scan radar head to 6abc.com/weather. the time 9:02 a.m. happening right now a woman fighting to stay alive after a driver ran her down. it happened in north philadelphia. investigators are working to track down the driver and the vehicle involved in all this. police say an older white nissan hit the woman in the 400 block of west wyoming avenue at about 1:30. investigators believe the driver was speeding. the victim was critically injured. her and another woman were trying to cross the street when the incidents happened. crews responded to a water main break in lower merion. an 8-inch main broke in the 200 block of morris avenue off new gulph road. the water was turned off for nearby residents. the road is open while aqua makes the necessary repairs. there's an active search for a person behind the violent death of a person beaten inside

her own home. christie ileto talked to concerned neighbors. >> the son came home from work, come running outside all upset that someone killed his 57-year-old woman. >> reporter: reluctant to talk, kevin refused to show his face, but lives across the street where a person took his neighbor's life. >> she was suffering from obvious trauma to her head she was laying in a pool of blood. >> reporter: homicide detectives discovered the second floor of the home was ransacked. several items including various electronics are missing. they stood silently as police removed their loved one's body. it is not clear when the encounter occurred or how long she was dead before she was discovered. still -- >> she didn't deserve it, she had a cane.

why would somebody want to hurt her. >> reporter: police are coming through surveillance video hoping to pin down the killer. anyone with information contact homicide detectives. reporting at police headquarters, christie ileto channel 6 "action news." >> one person is hurt after falling into a ravine in bryn mawr, delaware county. chopper 6 hd over the scene behind the rosemont plaza on the 1,000 block of lancaster avenue. were called out at 5:30 p.m. the victim was taken to the hospital to be treated. police say jealousy is a likely motive in a lehigh valley shooting that left a person dead. 36-year-old terrence ferguson was shot and killed in the parking lot of an auto zone in palmer township. police believe 23-year-old dakota baptiste shot the victim after he spotted the man in the car with a woman he had a relationship with. baptiste texted her earlier in

the day saying he would shoot ferguson. he is behind bars charged in the shooting. a hotly contested south jersey pipeline will move forward now that the pinelands commission approved the project. it will carry natural gas 22 miles per hour between maurice river township to cape may county passing through the protected pinelands preserve. the meeting was filled with critics and supporters voicing their concerns. >> concerned once they pass this pipeline today it will open up a pandora's box and allow for development that's not appropriate in the pines. >> we do support the project, the employment part of it is why i'm here to create jobs for a lot of time construction workers. >> a legal challenge gains the pipeline construction was filed before the vote even took place. opponents have promised more

the chief of staff was told by the fbi official that the story was not true, when reince priebus asked the fbi to say so publicly, the bureau declined. the question -- president questioned the bureau in tweets. saying the fbi cannot find the leakers windy the fbi itself. washington post report said the trump administration tried to enlist other politicians to quiet the russian story. he set aside the controversy to bask in the light of cpac having co-opted the conservative movement that did not warm to him until the election. >> we are a nation that will put it's own citizens first. >> reporter: more conflicts just hours later after the president signed an executive order to study reducing regulation, the

loving the 70s, i wasn't too happy about the winter, but it's been mild. i'm beyond this now, gray, the only ones who are upset are the snow lovers. it's been a painful winter we've seen 8 inches of snow in the city of philadelphia. we've had more days in the 60s and 70s this winter than the snow. we're talking about another mild day today. so mild with a frontal system approaching we could see a line of spring-like thunderstorms developing. very rare for february. you saw the live shot in atlantic city, they are dealing with fog down there, everybody else is in the clear, i suspect atlantic city will be all right in the next half-hour, as well. temperatures are extremely mild, 63 in philadelphia. allentown, 64. look at reading, it's not even 9:30 a.m., 66 there already. 55 in the poconos, 61 in trenton. the cold front is knocking don the door, it's through

pittsburgh and buffalo, the front is where all these lines come together. colder air on the western side. they are in the 40s across western pennsylvania enthe 60s along the eastern portions of the mid atlantic. 63 in washington, d.c. and philadelphia. 64 in richmond. 60 in binghamton. 0s and 40s to the west. it is that air mass that's heading our way overnight tonight. the collision of air masses that will produce the thundershowers and thunderstorms later on. we'll go hour by hour, the model, i think these numbers are too cool at least as what we're expecting later on. it suggests the clouds will get in here quickly. i think everybody will be in the 70s by 3:00 p.m. line of thunderstorms knocking on the door at that point. an hour later, you're down to appear. this line of storm will get here at 4:30 p.m. or 5:00 p.m. it will hit the coast and out to

a cliff side in san francisco was rescued by firefighters. a firefighter was able to put the dog in the harness and bring it to safety. crews say the path is difficult because rescuing dogs is different than rescuing people. >> you approach the dog and gain the trust of the animal to secure it, you saw in this case it's put in a harness next to the firefighter. >> the dog was exploring off leash when it went over the edge. the annual is thankfully -- animal, thankfully is okay. >> an indonesian woman charged

the material was actual nerve gas. a second woman was arrested. a wild shootout in houston, texas caught on camera. it began when officers attempted to arrest a woman an burglary warrant. the suspect led the woman on high-speed chase. s.w.a.t teams negotiated with the woman that's when she pulled out a gun and shot at them. >> i heard 20 guns go off. >> a neighbor captured the gunfire on his cell phone. the woman was hit during the shootout, medics performed cpr at the scene. the woman later died. a powerball mystery continues in a small town in indiana. people want to know who bought the single winning ticket to the jackpot. the tick was the only one in the nation to match all six numbers. lucky person, right, winning a

"action news," saturday at 9:00, a number of possible hate crimes are under investigation across the u.s. a man is shot a dozen times overnight. we'll tell you what police say led to the shooting. plus we're one day away from hollywood's biggest night, hear what jimmy kimmel is saying about hosting the show. those stories, but first outside we go to meteorologist chris sowers. how is it looking? >> reporter: it's gorgeous out here, i can't get over how warm it is in the middle of february and we're in the 60s. all time record high that philadelphia has ever recorded during the month of february was 79 decreases. we didn't make it that high, there's only been a handsful of times that the temperatures have been he -- handful of times that the temperatures have been what

we experienced yesterday. speaking of record highs take a look at this, if you're wondering how warm it's been across the country these are all the new record highs set in the past week, 1,453. if you go back to february february 14,492 brand new record highs set. year to dead 6,869 brand new record highs. we're closing in on 7,000 brand new record highs. unfortunately as we flip it over to the radars, they will put an end to the party. this is future tracker 6 i set it in motion, as it continues to march east and the sun destabilizes the atmosphere, the line will become more active. sun and clouds to start, clouds build during the afternoon hours and by evening here comes the impressive line of showers and thunderstorms. one or two could be on the

friday being investigated as a possible hate crime. >> it just makes us much stronger. >> reporter: authorities say someone started the fire at one of the doors, nobody was hurt, but the building was damaged. that was abc's eva pilgrim with the report. back in the area police looking for a person who shot a man 12 times outside a north philadelphia bar. the shots were fired in the 800 block of east allegheny avenue overnight. the man we are told was shot three times and nine more times as he tried to get away. the victim right now recovering in the hospital. police say a disagreement led to the shooting. police say this man right here, 33-year-old andron hughes was charged with his 7th dui. police say he was pulled over at 3:00 a.m. yesterday after he stopped in the middle of an intersection for a red light. the owners of the popular

9:43 a.m., two brothers in texas are being called heros after they heard a cry for help and rescued a 92-year-old woman. >> what's your americancy, sir? >> -- what's your emergency, sir? >> an elderly has fallen and she can't get up. >> they heard someone yelling their neighbor had fallen and stuck alone for 20 minutes. one boy stayed with her the other called for help. they stayed calm throughout the entire thing because their dad was a police officer and taught them how to act during an emergency situation. very good deed for them. very nice. very nice for you to give us lovely weather. thank you. >> reporter: as we go live on sky6 live hd the chilly air

row we hit 70 degrees or higher in the city of philadelphia during the month of february that never happened. cloud cover to the west. broken line of thundershowers and thunderstorms across western pennsylvania. the air behind that front that is starting to kind of, well, it's pretty much -- it's something we don't want to see right now, this is cold air that's marching south and east. green bay nice little blizzard taking place through here pushing into the southern provinces of canada. the jet stream will dive south and east over the next 12 to 24 hours and plant itself over the top of the eastern half of the united states. the good news this is pretty much a one and done type of deal. one day boom it's gone all the way up into canada. we'll see warmer weather return monday and tuesday, 3:00 p.m., upper 60s, low 70s for just about everybody. line of thunderstorms
