faiths are standing in solidarity calling for peace. monday night the big story on "action news" is the interfaith service held today in the city's east mount airy section. >> that's where sarah bloomquist is live with the full story. sarah. >> reporter: rick and monica, jews muslims christians, dozens of leaders of various faiths came together here at this seminary in mount airy this afternoon for a planning session and also to denounce the desecration of the cemetery in the wissinoming section of philadelphia. they vowed to stand together to be a force against hate. >> i commit as an individual. >> i commit as an individual. >> reporter: priests reverends imans stood together at the lutheran seminary of philadelphia. they pledged to find ways to work together to counteracts of hatred like the desecration of the cemetery in wissinoming.

>> a coalition is taking shape in our city and in our nation for the sake of peace among people. >> reporter: they called the attack on the cemetery the final resting place of the truly defenseless an attack on all religions. >> this is philadelphia. any act of desecration towards a place of worship, place of resting for our dead is totally unacceptable. >> any act of intolerance which we see a lot of today is totally something that goes against the spirit of this city that we all know and love. >> reporter: on the hills of the cemetery vandalism today jewish community centers and day schools here and around the country received threatening phone calls. >> thankfully we have done a lot of training and discussing it, our institutions are prepared to evacuate and take it seriously no matter what kind of call but of course this is threatening and disrupting and our children are feeling scared. >> reporter: there may be fear, there may be hatred but these religious leaders vow top stand together along with

in montgomery county. but the panel of jurors will come from somewhere else. today a judge denied a motion by cosby's attorneys to move the trial entirely. they claim moving the hearing to philadelphia or pittsburgh would make it he's yeser to find unbiased jurors. prosecutors claim the defense is trying to shop for a more favorable jury not an unbiased one. the judge in cosby's case turned down the request to move the trial but will allow the jury pool to be selected outside of montgomery county. >> the next race for a senate seat in pennsylvania is already under way more than 20 months from election day. rick ciccone declared his candidacy today. he's a strong backer of president trump. sac cone is looking to stop senator bob casey from getting a third term in the u.s. senate. >> the democrats retain control of the delaware state senate this weekend. stephanie hanson won saturday's special election for the state's tenth district

once held by now lieutenant governor bethany hall-long. both former vice president joe biden and former maryland governor martin o'malley campaigned on hanson's behalf. hanson says she got a personal call from biden after saturday's victory. >> he was very congratulatory for all of the people that have worked so hard on the campaign and very hopeful that this is sending the right message back to washington. >> more than 30 percent of registered voters turned out for saturday's election. hanson will be sworn in next month. >> president trump is looking for a multi billion dollar boost in defense spending in his first budget to congress. that proposal will include a 54 billion-dollar raise for defense. the plan also calls for cuts to domestic programs and foreign aid. president trump is calling the plan a message to the world. and we'll have much more on the president's first fiscal plan coming up at 5:30. trump also will address a joint session of congress tomorrow. you can watch the prime time event live here on 6abc and i'll be in our nation's

"action news" beginning at 4:00. >> some breaking news now from the city's port richmond section. chopper6 is over the scene here. this is the 2800 block of tulip street in port richmond where as you can see a number of police officers have converged here and they are centering their attention on this pickup truck in the middle of your screen right there. we're told at least at 1.10 police cruisers had converged on the scene. we're not sure why they're focusing on this pickup truck. no word of any arrests and no injuries to officers but again, officers on the scene here in port richmond focusing their attention on this pickup truck for some reason, the 2800 block of tulip street. we'll keep an eye on the situation bring you more information as it becomes available to us. >> new jersey governor chris christie will unveil his final budget as governor tomorrow. his address will come as some of the state's biggest financial problems persist including the pension and education fund. many say this 2018 fiscal year budget will give governor

christie a chance to help shape his legacy. the race to succeed him after his two terms is now fully under way. >> well, authorities say a part of a human leg washed up along the delaware river shore line in that national park over the weekend. the gloucester county prosecutors officers says a woman walking a dog found the body part. investigators describe it as the lower part of a decomposed leg from the knee down with the foot attached. it was no clothing or markings on the him. no other body parts were found. the medical examiner's office is now trying to determine the person's identity. >> a crash involving several cars caused major morning headaches along the schuylkill expressway today. chopper6 over the scene going east near gulph mills. it's still not clear how it unfolded but you can see at least one car ended up on the grassy shoulder. we don't know how many people were hurt or if any criminal charges will be filed. traffic was backed up for several miles while authorities cleared that scene. and the fbi and philadelphia police are looking for this manton night.

he's wanted tour trying to rob the citizens bank branch at 12:30 market street thursday. detectives say he walked in before 4:30 p.m. handed a teller a note demanding money and then a few minutes later ran off without any cash. if you recognize this man the fbi wants to hear from you. >> in delaware a worker was rushed to the hospital after being shocked while on the job in wilmington this afternoon. this was the scene just before 3:30 along the 1200 block of orange street. firefighters and paramedics arrived and found the man on the ninth floor. investigators say the man was working on the hvac system and a coworker discovered him. so far police are not preleasing the man's condition. philadelphia police just released video of a plant thief in action in queen village. a surveillance cam ram captured a man taking potted plants from the front of a home on the 100 block of bainbridge street. this was in the middle of the night back on january 17th. if you recognize the man in the video, you're asked to

contact authorities. >> two key pollutants in the water in new jersey stayed at the same level oregon down so good news. a study by the u.s. geological survey found nitrogen and phosphorus that researchers say something good news. 28 streams throughout the state were tested. however, there concerned about salt levels that they did find rising in some places. >> a road closure is now in effect in wilmington due to work being done on a bridge. deldot wants drivers to know that carr road is closed between the washington street extension and marsh roosevelt boulevard the bridge over chalfont creek is being rehabilitated. the closure will be in place until the work is completed sometime in the middle of june. >> all right. speaking of the roads let's see what's rolling out there tonight. >> matt pelman back in the "action news" traffic center with the very latest. >> a vehicle decided it didn't feel like running anymore here on the schuylkill expressway eastbound. broke down right in the center lane here by montgomery drive. luckily they got it pushed off to the side. you see the penndot truck out

here on the shoulder with the dv which is just ahead but now things are extra slow on the eastbound side of the schuylkill coming into tonight's sixers game. also some slowing along 95 in both directions if you're headed toward that game. 17 miles per hour on the northbound side there at the girard point bridge. ditto 17 on the southbound side in the northeast by the betsy ross bridge. up in the lehigh valley there's a crash to avoid along 309 southbound near tillman. speeds just in the teens there as well. and in trenton we're watching an accident along 129 northbound at hamilton avenue causing congestion in that area. burlington city house fire along high street. i would use wood street instead and plenty of congestion at the triple b burlington bristol bridge because of the turnpike bridge college. if you ride njt's river line, you're not on the trains today. you're on the shuttle buses instead between walter rand and the waterfront. that's because of emergency sewer work and no word on when that work is going to wrap up. but i'm wrapping up. rick and monica, back to you. >> thanks. >> thank you.

>> the pentagon has cents president trump the preliminary framework to defeat isis that he requested last month. the document outlines possible military diplomatic and financial measures to bolster u.s. efforts against the terrorist organization. defense secretary james mattis and other officials are now discussing the options. details of the plan have not been revealed but it could involve sending ground troops to syria to provide support. the obama administration refused to deploy combat troops to syria because of the risks involved. iraqi forces backed by aerial support by the u.s. led international coalition continued its push into mosul

today. troops recaptured a key bridge in the western part of the city of 700,000 people. witnesses say that isis fighters fought back with snipers antitank missiles and suicide car bombs. only one main bridge remains on the west side to allow humanitarian supplies to enter the city. a 25-year-old man remains jailed after he allegedly drove a pickup truck into a new orleans mardi gras crowd. police say nielson rizzuto's blood alcohol level was triple the legal limit when he allegedly hit 28 people with his vehicle saturday night. according to rizzuto's father he claims a stranger gave him a drink off the street and that's the last thing he remembered. the people hit by the truck were all gathered to watch a mardi gras parade. new orleans police say it's too soon to say if any new safety rules will be established in light of the incident. >> a police officer in minnesota has pleaded not guilty to charges that he killed philando castillo.

officers jeronimo yanez. castillo's girlfriend was in the carly he told him not to shoot because he was not grabbing had us gun. she live streamed the interaction with yanez after that shooting. yanez thought castillo was an armed robber. a car plunged seven stories off a parking deck and landed upside down on a business in houston texas. incredibly the teenaged driver was still able to crawl out of that wreckage. doctors say he won't even need surgery if you can imagine. when the carp landed he slid out of the vehicle and through the roof of the damaged store. police say he mistakenly hit the gas instead of the brake. the store's stability is now being determined. >> sports tonight. jamie is here and the sixers just can't seem to get healthy, can they. >> nope. nope. going to continue for the rest of the season i think. as the process turns, not a bad little title for the sixers soap opera that this

the month of february. the next day starting march. let's see how things will go in. >> it will come in like a lion temperatures near records and severe storms and then we slam back to normal for the second day of march. sole, kind of a whiplash this week. as we take a look at storm tracker6 live double scan got a couple of sprinkles around but overall the cloud cover in control here as we start out the week and temperatures once again running above norm. 53 right now in philadelphia, down for the high -- from the high of 54 degrees. 52 in trenton, same for wilmington. 50 or so for millville atlantic city airport and dover, a couple of 40's on the board lancaster reading as well as the poconos right now sitting at 41 degrees. a few glimmers of sun early today and then those clouds quickly raced in from the south and west. there you can see some of the patchy green which is some of those light showers and a few raindrops here or there but really not even dampening the ground and that will be the case as we get into the overnight hours. the clouds stick around. could be a spotty sprinkle upper 30's in the suburbs to

around 44 degrees for center city. and a bit of a wind switch from the southwest to the southeast, three to 6 miles an hour. a warm front lifts to the north here on our tuesday, some breaks of sun will develop and that's going to move those temperatures back up into the middle and upper 60's. in fact, that 67 that we're going for tomorrow is only a degree shy of the record set back in 1976. the first area of low pressure along this front goes over the great lakes and then into southern canada. it drags the cold front and a new developing, a second wave of energy and the second wave will mean a little more business as it pushes through in the form of a cold front late on wednesday. but ahead of it on wednesday, southerly winds, up to 74 degrees, a couple degrees shy of the record of 76 set back in 1972 and then as that front passes through, it will trigger some severe storms from the midatlantic down to the deep south. the greatest risk for severe weather will be down towards

the tennessee valley and just to the west of atlanta and will be within a slight risk of severe weather and you can see we're on the far northern end of this, kind of on the edge, most of the severe weather will stay down to the south. something we'll watch and the problem will be strong winds with the storm, not so much in the way of any tornadoes or large hail. future tracker at 4 o'clock wednesday afternoon, that's the timing of the storms as they pass through. not good timing for the evening rush on wednesday with heavy downpours and again lightning and thunder and then some of the rain lingers even going into wednesday evening before all that pushes off the coast and then the winds of change arrive on thursday. the exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast 67 tomorrow, clouds with some sun. it's a dry day. watch for a round of rain tuesday evening. that brings in the warmth or at least the warmer weather on wednesday of 74 with those late day gusty storms. and then very windy with falling temperatures, 53 probably late morning around lunchtime falling into the 40's in the afternoon. a rain or snow shower on

>> ♪ >> "action news." delaware valley's leading news program. with ducis rodgers, meteorologist cecily tynan and jim gardner. >> ♪ >> monday night, south jersey police say a woman made up the story of her attempted abduction and a problem sewer pipe floods a neighborhood in the kensington section of philadelphia. but the big story on "action news" tonight is despicable vandalism and threats apparently aimed at the jewish community. somebody desecrated the jewish mount carmel cemetery in the wissinoming section of philadelphia over the weekend. overturning and damaging more than a hundred grave stones. this came just a week after the same thing happened at a

jewish cemetery in saint louis. but that's not all. two delaware valley jewish community centers and a jewish preschool had to be evacuated today but let's focus on the cemetery first.
