churches take a corner were among those at the meeting at the bethel ame church. pepsi sent outlayoff notices for up to 100 workers in the philadelphia area. the company says that the decline in sales from the city's new beverage tax is to blame but city officials say not so fast. sara bloomquist is live now outside of one of those plants with the full story. >> reporter: well, pepsi cents out notices to the employees at the southeast plant and a second in south philadelphia and a third in wilmington, delaware. they plan to eliminate 80 to 100 jobs due to slumping sales due to the beverage tax. >> they said their sales are down 40% in the city and only up 10% to 15% in surrounding communities. >> so the company that employed

428 people in philadelphia will eliminate 150 positions and pepsi says this is not something we take lightly or want to do. we are working with the community and soonon to treat people with dignity. the tax took effect on sweetened beverages in january. they took in $5.7 million, the money funds prekindergarten programs city wide. and the mayors office pointed to pepsi's profits in the billions and the new pre-k program created 251 jobs in the city. >> they said the soda company stooped to a new low. they are holding jobs hostage because of the beverage tax. >> if they are still selling soda outside of the city pepsi

she quickly took cover in the passenger seat the only part of the car that was not crushed. as for the man he was fleeing a traffic stop and racing up to 115 miles per hour during the pursuit. the 18-year-old was taken into custody after he crashed and thankfully nobody was hurt here. big talkers now and perhaps you have seen this billboard on i-95 south it reads welcome to philadelphia where we don't value our public school children and calls out the public officials including the mayor and you see their pictures there and it's more than five years since our teachers have gotten a raise. and the central high school teacher behind it and crowd funded for than $500,000 to put the billboard up. the goal is to remind the officials of the obligations for the underfunded public schools and explains that he and other
