success thanks in part to 13-year-old nick rizzo. he started collecting coats as part of his national junior high honor society project and it only grew from there. >> i started going on social media and announcing it. and i asked my friends moms and my mom's friends and everybody. and then they donated. >> all right. nick brought in 90 coats for the coat drive and now say he is plans to make this coat collection project annual event. hundreds of people had a spin class today for a great cause. they took part in a so-called spin-in at children's hospital of philadelphia to help fund research into pediatric heart disease. trish hartman has more. >> all together. >> reporter: positive words, uplifting music and a cause worth breaking a sweat over. >> the instructors are great, high energy, the music's great. it's awesome. >> reporter: the very first philly spin-in brought 500 cyclists together to raise money for the cardiac center at the

children's hospital of philadelphia. spin instructors from studios throughout the city brought the best play lists and parents like adrian daley brought stories of hope. her 7 month old son has had two heart surgeries and at least one more. >> heart warming to see everybody. people supporting the cardiac center. especially the people taking care of him here. they're dedicated. >> reporter: and this all day style, fundraising teams of at least four people participate. each member spinning for 45 minutes at a time. hundreds of thousands of dollars raised will help with innovative research. >> we're coming up with ways where we can potentially do interventions even before babies are born so that we can potentially reverse their heart disease. >> for participants like mike baker, this is fun but emotional. his daughter, evelyn, had heart surgery at 3 days old. she's a happy, healthy

a youngster from iowa has a new lease on life thanks to a very special pair of glasses. he grew up completely color blind. then his dad bought him a $300 pair of glasses that alter the light spectrum as the light passes throughout glasses. the creators of the glasses say there was a 50-50 shot the glasses would help. but in his case the glasses worked. >> you could hear him start to choke up almost instantly realizing what that what he was seeing was real. >> it was so great. popped out so well. >> it's like your life goes into
