continues tonight after two brothers were gunned down in a car in southwest philadelphia. one did not survive. the other is fighting for his life. monday night, the big story on "action news" is the gunman still on the loose after those siblings were ambushed over the weekend. >> "action news" reporter sarah bloomquist is live at philadelphia police headquarters tonight with more on the investigation. sarah. >> reporter: rick and monica, that's right, right now philadelphia police are trying to identify and track down the shooter who fired into a car wounding one teenager and killing his older teenaged brother. the 16-year-old who survived remains in extremely critical condition. police tell "action news" 19-year-old zibrii davis and his younger brother 16-year-old sibrii had no criminal record. they're unsure why the two became the targets of a gunman yesterday afternoon. >> right now the two young men were not on our radar. we don't know what this is about. >> reporter: police were called out to the 8100 block of lyons avenue in southwest

philadelphia around 2:30 sunday afternoon. they found a white car riddled with bullet holes with the davis brothers inside. both suffering from gunshot wounds. investigators say the two had been sitting in their car when the suspect in a dark vehicle pulled up alongside. >> originally they were having a conversation. we don't know about what and then the shooter just pulls out his weapon from his seat, fires into the other vehicle striking both of them and then he drives away. >> reporter: police say the davis brothers tried to flee but the ca car karr careened ouf control. sibrii. zibrii suffered a gunshot wound to the head. >> a male driver who drove away in the dark colored sedan. >> reporter: zibrii davis remains in critical condition at children's hospital in extremely critical condition. we're told the grandmother who

cared for both brothers is at his side. at police headquarters, i'm sarah bloomquist channel6 "action news." rick. >> all right, sarah, thank you. in other news, people in one northeast philadelphia neighborhood are still being told to stay inside hours after al fitness center went up in flames earlier today. the blaze broke out at the afc fitness center on grant avenue around 11:15 this morning. chopper6 was overhead. you can see how strong the flames were. smoke could be seen for miles. "action news" spoke to a construction worker who was on the roof at the time. >> i'm lost for words at this point. >> reporter: you guys were welding. >> torching, heat welding. >> reporter: heat welding. >> yeah. >> how did you get out of there so fast. >> we had all kinds of ladders access points. >> there were nearly a hundred people inside the club at the time. everyone made it out safely. in the last hour, the owner of the fitness center called the damage to the facility severe and said the gym will be closed until further notice. >> at first, president trump

promised a legal showdown over his travel ban but today the president scrapped his former plan and signed a new executive order on immigration. >> the order signed back in january banned travel from seven muslim majority countries. the new directive drops iraq from the list among the other changes. despite the tweets there are still concerns about whether the order is constitutional. janai norman has more now from washington. >> reporter: president trump vowed to take the fight over his first travel ban to the supreme court but ultimately decided to revoke that order and today behind closed doors signed his new executive order that takes effect march 16th. >> while no system can be made completely infallible the american people can have high confidence we are identifying ways to improve the vetting process and thus keep terrorists from entering our country. >> reporter: what's new? for starters syrian ref juice are no longer singled out with an indefinite if it ban. the order no longer makes

exceptions for religious minorities and explicitly does not impact dual citizens in those -- and those with valid u.s. vees as a result of the accident the new order suspends the entire refugee program for four months and while iraq has been removed from the list, there's still six majority muslim countries where travel to the u.s. is banned for 90 days. the attorney general says there's good reason to block northern nationals from sudan syria iran libya somalia and yemen. >> three of these nations are state sponsors of terrorism. the other three have served as safe havens for terrorist countries, countries where governments have lost control of their territory to terrorist groups like isil or al-qaeda and its affiliatessism critics say the order does nothing to improve national security. >> it's still mean spirited misguided and in my judgment goes against what america is all about. >> reporter: the washington state attorney general whose lawsuit brought down the first

travel ban says his team is reviewing this new executive order and considering the next step. in washington, janai norman, channel6 "action news." >> philadelphia international airport was a hot bed of demonstration shortly after president trump's first travel ban was that signed and tonight local leaders are lashing out again at the president's new plan despite attempts by the trump administration to explain the rationale. john rawlins will have more on that part of the story for you coming up tonight on "action news" at 6:00. >> meantime president trump is not backing down from his claim that former president barack obama wire tapped trump tower during last year's presidential campaign. president trump made the comments over the weekend on twitter but has yet to offer any proof. now fbi director james comey has called on the justice department to refute the president's claim. the white house says it wants congress to investigate, however. representative donald norcross of new jersey says president trump's tweets are concerning. >> i think there's great cause for concern when the leader of

the free world is tweeting some things that it seems by all indications not based on reality. >> obama has denied the wiretapping allegations through a spokesperson. former members of obama's staff have also denounced the claims. >> al septa rider was followed from a south philadelphia subway station by a group of men that then attacked the victim and robbed him. police released this surveillance video showing the suspects in the february 6th incidents. the victim was punched and kicked in the 1200 block of morris street. the suspects took the 22-year-old man's money and cell phone. if you recognize anyone there, please you are urged to call police. >> from our new jersey news room tonight, the driver of a car that went off the road and landed in woods is in serious but stable condition. this was the scene overnight on turnersville road near ski mountain drive in gloucester township. police have not said why the driver lost control.

they gathered today to remember a long time political figure in new jersey. jamie foxx served as transportation commissioner for democratic governor jim mcgreevey and chris christie among other positions. christie was at today's memorial service in hamilton. fox was indicted as part of a wide ranging federal probe that started with the christie bridge scandal. fox was 62. >> police in delaware are beefing up patrols across the first state in hopes out of cutting back on distracted driving. from now through next weekend, law enforcement will be conducting additional enforcement keeping an eye out for folks driving while using their cell phones. officials say more cell phone related crashes nap march in delaware than any other month. one violation earns you a $100 ticket. if you get caught a second time, penalties can increase to $300. >> on the weather front tonight the rollercoaster ride and continues this week with the good, the bad and possibly the snowy. sky6 looking live at the

center city skyline tonight. we woke up to chilly temperatures this morning but by lunchtime things had warmed up. tonight temperatures a bit on the mild side but some areas could see some precipitation. let's get the latest from meteorologist cecily tynan who is live at the big board. hail, cecily. >> hey, cecily. >> today feels a lot better than over the weekend. temperatures crashed. friday it was 40 but saturday and sunday temperatures were stuck in the 30's more than 10 degrees below normal and it felt cooler than that, a lot cooler on saturday with wind chills in the teens and 20's. now, though, we're climbing out of the deep freeze. 50 degrees in philadelphia. there's much warmer air to our south and west. temperatures in the mid to upper 50's. that will be rolling in overnight. so, double scan live showing what we've got going on, it's a warm front. it's the leading edge of warm air. does it have showers associated with it. could see a few showers late tonight early tomorrow morning as this lifts through. best chance north and west of philadelphia but behind that

born female. weeks after president trump reversed obama era policies on bathroom rights. the appeals court has to decide whether federal law treats gender identity discrimination equally to sex discrimination. more charges are coming to airport security. the t.s.a. says it will -- its pat-downs will become more thoreau. the enhanced security measures come after a department of homeland security study found some t.s.a. agents did not find hidden weapons during pat-down tests. t.s.a. agents previously had five options for patting down travelers. the new measures will cut that down to a single procedure. it new pat-down will take longer but the t.s.a. predicts it will not cause overall delays. >> future of the affordable care act was the topic of discussion today at philadelphia city hall. city council's committee on public health and human services hosted a hearing this afternoon to explore the effect of an appeal on the city. today's hearing also marked an effort by the city to track federal progress on healthcare

so and officials can prepare for what could happen next. >> health check tonight more than 73,000 chickens in tennessee had to be euthanized due to an outbreak of avian flu. this comes just days after the cdc warned of a dangerous bird flu infecting humans in asia. >> health reporter and registered nurse ali gorman at the big board. >> government officials believe there's little risk to humans or food chain because people aren't usually infected with bird flu unless they're living close to poultry. overseas it's a different story and one that the cdc has been following. there's been a spike in one strain of avian flu in china and hong kong. it led to more than 460 human infections and most have become seriously ill. officials in the u.s. are working to determine if it's the same strain.

tyson food says it is responding aggressively. eating food with soy may help some women battling breast cancer. researchers followed nearly 6,000 patients for nine years to analyze their intake of a compound in soy products. now women who ate the most soy were 21 percent less like to die than women who ate the low. it may be that soy has a proem ticket tiff effect but this was only seen in women whose cancer is negative for hormones receptors. and also today, feeling more connected online could make some people feel less connected and isolated in real life. that's according to a new social media study. the more time young adults spent on sites like facebook instagram and snapchat, the more likely they were to report feelings of social isolation. but this could go either way. it could be people who are feeling home are more likely to go online to find connections or it could be people getting too caught up online and either missing out on real life interactions or

"action news" caught up with delaware senator chris coons today and he told us he thought president trump's congressional address last week meant that he was ready to focus on policy. senator coons says trump's weekend tweets, though, show the opposite. >> president trump made a long career out of baseless accusations that obama was born in kenya, that millions of people voted illegally and i think it's time for the

president to put his phone down and focus on governing. >> senator coons added that trump was on the right track when he talked about strengthening our infrastructure creating jobs and manufacturing. >> well, in iraq weeks after the offensive began there, forces are finally closing in on an isis strong hold in western mosul. tanks and soldiers are now going door to door looking for isis fighters. troops are also engaging in street to street fire fights while trying to evacuate civilians from the area. isis militants are suspected of using chemical weapons on civilians in the city. the red cross says 12 people were treated for exposure to some form of gas. european union is now consulting with japan and international partners on how top respond to north korea's firing of four banned ballistic missiles. the missile launch appears to be in reaction to the u.s., south korea military drills that those countries consider routine but that north koreans insist are an invasion

in the township this morning. it's not clear why he was in atlantic county or just how he died. philadelphia police searching for three criminals who tried but failed to steal from this fast food restaurant. newly released surveillance video shows them pulling up to a chick-fil-a in port richmond last thursday. two men got out of a blue sedan and broke through the front door in the 2300 block of east butler street. once they got inside they tried to take the cash register and smash their way into a safe but they wound up leaving empty handed. >> a 17-year-old girl who was allegedly recorded on video by a bucks county medical professional may be filing a civil lawsuit and is urging other possible victims to come forward. 45-year-old james close who worked as a licensed practical nurse at penn medicine dermatology in lower makefield township is accused of secretly taping patients while they undressed. police reportedly learned about the crime when the teenager saw close's iphone on the floor while she was getting treatment. the teen's attorney says she

wants to make sure no one else suffers what she went through. dozens of philadelphia police officers were promoted today. not just because of their dedication to the residents of our city but also in an effort to strengthen several departments within the force. students at waldron mercy academy sat down with a chat with jacqueline davies she wrote the book the lemonade war and created the program when life hands you lemons. davies came up with the idea for the book from watching her own two sons and now she teaches younger kids how to develop ideas from their own lives. very coolly. >> adam is here now with closer look at that wold and whacky weather this week. >> it is true march madness around here. it will be this week. we're talking well above normal temperatures and a couple chances of snow so there's something for everyone in the seven-day forecast. >> oh wow. >> as we take a look at storm tracker6 live double scan we started with sun this morning, much warmer than this weekend. clouds are increasing right now and a few spotty showers near harrisburg but the action cam was out earlier there along the schuylkill river right near boathouse row and you can see again early on in the day we had the sun some high clouds coming in and now the clouds are thickening and eventually will supply a little bit of rain for some of us overnight tonight.

as we look at the almanac in philadelphia 51 was the official high today at 3:44 a couple degrees above that normal. over the weekend our highs william stuck in the 30's. 36, 38 degrees saturday into sunday. well below that normal temperature but now we're starting to kick it back up. the low this morning 26 degrees, a few ticks lower than that normal and the sunset near 6 o'clock but over the weekend on sunday, it will set after 7:00 once we turn those clocks ahead on saturday night. 50 right now in allentown, 44 wilmington, 45 in millville. a bit cooler to the south with the wind coming in off of that ocean and these temperatures are not going to fall back all that much tonight because those clouds are now beginning to push in, lower and thicken and that's going to kind of hold some of that radiational heat that we created throughout the day with that sunshine so you really can't escape the heat when you have that blanket of clouds above and behind it you can see some of these very light scattered showers pushing in. so, for the forecast tonight, some showers come in but it's

very late and especially up towards the lehigh valley. cloudy for everyone else. 35 in the suburbs, 40 degrees for center city. future tracker showing that little wall of rain coming in at 7 o'clock in the morning and they put on the brakes as it tries to approach wilmington, philadelphia and trenton and not much happening tomorrow morning or even tomorrow afternoon in southern areas. this is more north and west in our pennsylvania counties. and by the afternoon, the areas that see the rain tomorrow morning, that rain lifts into new england. we could catch a break or two of sun tomorrow but the clouds really the dominant feature and then a cold front comes in in the wee hours of wednesday morning. this is 4:00 a.m. you can see this little line that is developing. there could be some gusty winds with it or even a quick downpour or the rumble of thunder as that front pushes through but it moves away to brighten up the day for wednesday. milder at 63 degrees and a bit breezy. it stays windy on wednesday, behind the front but the cold air doesn't rush in right away. the sunshine comes out.

we're still in the low to the mid 60's here on wednesday with high pressure and then the cooler air starts to come in slowly on thursday but especially on friday. the exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast, it is warm the next two days. wednesday is the brighter of the two days. morning showers on your tuesday. thursday lots of sun but a bit cooler at 54 degrees and then upper 30's to low 40's. that's it on friday. there's a little wave of energy that could bring a period of morning wet snow mixing with rain on friday dry but cold on saturday of 36 degrees and then we're going to be watching a bigger storm to the south. somewhere in the midatlantic we'll get some accumulating snow on sunday whether it's here baltimore washington or further south that we'll have to iron that out later this week and then monday sunny and chilly 41 degrees. kind of a reality check. another weekend in the 30's and snow in that seven-day forecast. >> warm then white. >> we invite you to check in often at 6abc.com/weather.

darby police. dann you've got the full story. >> reporter: that's right, jim. police say that if not for newly installed surveillance cameras, a day care worker may have gotten away with shoving that child down that set of stairs. she has been identified by police as 52-year-old sara gable of folcroft. she is in serious trouble police say. she's been arrested following the horrific act and faces a slew of charges tonight. police say the incident happened here at the childcare of the future day-care center in the 700 block of secane. police say the owners had just installed a new camera surveillance system and turned it on and watched in horror. it was friday afternoon around 5:15 that the camera in the stairwell captured a day care worker throwing a four-year-old little girl down a set of steps like a rag doll. >> apparently for no known reason, she takes this child and just throws her down a set of steps. >> reporter: she the
