is a bitter cold that has descended on our area making it tough to to be outside unless you're bundled up with the start of spring less than two weeks away, a snowstorm is likely to hit our area early next week. action news reporter jeaneatte reyes has been talking to people. but we begin with melissa magee and the first check of the accu weather forecast. >> we're certainly doing late season cold across much of the delaware and lehigh valleys and part of the reason why it was cold today, was because of those blustery winds. wind gusts across the region in philadelphia, 26 miles per hour. although earlier we had winds gusting at high as the upper 30's here in philadelphia. 35 miles per hour there in allentown and gusts right now in coming in at 28. and 32 miles per hour at the coast in beach haven end, factor that in feels much colder, the high was 32. a current windchill of 19 in the city. 14 in allentown, just two degrees in the poconos. and 25 degrees down in cape may.

as satellite 6 along with action radar shows you we got a mostly clear sky, the gusty winds we saw earlier. if you're out on the town, layer up and bundle up. 28 degrees is the number at 7:00 p.m. got a mostly clear sky, 27 at 8:00. then the upper 20's at 10:00 and 11:00. it is clear but it is quiet. before things change early next week. we got a winter storm watch already posted monday into tuesday for the hearts of the delaware and lehigh valleys as we're tracking the potential of an nor'easter. looking ahead we got the cold air locked in. well in advance of the nor'easter that is possible late monday night into tuesday. what is going to be key is the track and the intensityf the storm. that's going to determine how much snowfall and whether significant snowfall lines up across the. we'll take a closer look in the accu weather forecast. >> thank you.

from the scene with details.bob. >> reporter: walter, this building is torched with the extreme cold temperatures and for igh wind. crews. this is the building behind me, it is destroyed. i just spoke with the owner of it. he says he operated a carpet business out of here. he says the w of carpet. that meant a lot of fuel for e flames. >> by the time i got off the in quick. >> reporter: an inferno indeed. he says he was working on the house next door when he and saw in flames. cell phone video captured the moments before crews arrived. the flames were growing quickly. christian said there was one man inside >> kicked on the door. he got out. >> reporter: whoever that person was didn't stick around very long. >> end hang around.

he's not around right now. >> reporter: fire officials say around 9:30 they got the call in philadelphia for a burning building in the 6200 block of arch. high winds and so many homes nearby. could have spread and got ugly fast. philadelphia fire commissioner adam. >> absent great work by the firefighters every one of those homes would be on fire right now. this would have been a real catastrophe. >> reporter: several row homes have heat damage. one of them is a woman named satina and her daughter. >> my daughter called me, told me that the house was on fire. and she was trying to retrieve from in the house. >> reporter: crews battled the flames, all she could do was watch >> waiting and seeing what's gog on. >> reporter: you can tell she was visibly upset. we hope for many surrounding homes another liv at the building there. you can see again, the damage

extensive, amazing no reports of injuries. as of this point. no word of a cause here. west philadelphia bob brooks, channel 6 action news. thank you. a 13-year-old is critically injured after being shot in the head while sitting inside a chinese restaurant in the city's tioga nicetown section. this happened late last night about 10:30 along the 2000 block of west hunting park avenue. the teenager was sitting in the restaurants with friends when two other teenagers came in the store and startled talking tov. he pulled outlet a gun and fired one shot hitting the victim in the head. police have moments before the shootg. if you have any information about this case, please call police. from our delaware newsroom, police investigating a fatal crash in mill creek after 2:30 this afternoon. along the 3900 block of kirkwood highway. investigators say a car tried to make a turn when it slammed into another vehicle.

the man who was driving in the first car was pronounced dead to scene. the driver of the other car was taken to christiana hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries. we have an update now to a horrific crash last night in camden county. we have now learned that two people have died saturday of this crash. it happened at about 6:30 last night on white house pike and oaklyn and involved two vehicle that is collided head-on. one vehicle caught fire. a third person is in critical condition. and two others are hospitalized in serious condition. men from california was arrested after he scaled a fence at the white house and then ran on to a restricted area on the property. investigators say late last night, to 26-year-old jonathan tran hopped the fence and ran on to the south grounds and quickly taken down by secret service agents. he told them he's a friend of the president. who, by the way was inside the white house. he also said he had an aps confirmed is not he remains i an out s federal

way. we got the winter storm watch. the national weather service issued a watch. it means there's a likelihood of six inches or more across the region. we have to just fine tune where exactly that will be. here's storm tracker 6 live double scan radar. we're not tracking precipitation but we have the cold air overhead. we'll show you the picture outside, sky 6 live looking at the ben franklin bridge on saturday. bundle up if you're stepping out on the town, the wind will start to diminish as we go through the rest of tonight. the high in philadelphia well below average coming in at 32, with wind chills in the teens and 20's, normal for us is 51. that record set back in 1977. currently as we look at the number, it's 30 in philadelphia. 28 in lancaster, 16 in the poconos with windchill up in the poconos of two degrees. 30 in millville. 30 at the coast for arc and also beach haven end and dover

sitting at freezing, here is satellite 6 along with action radar, mostly clear sky and the wind we had earlier will start to diminish. we got oh mostly clear sky but it's pretty cold. we'll drop to 14 in the suburbs for the overnight low and 20 in philadelphia with the the west and northwesterly wind at eight to 16 miles per hour, this is certainly one of the coldest weekends we've seen so far this winter. a reminder for you. later on tonight before you go to bed, we are springing forward. daylight saving time begins, overnight tonight into sunday. reminder to check the smoke detecter batteries and also move the clocks ahead one hour. we'll lose an hour of sleep but we'll gain an extra hour of daylight. the setup for us on sunday, high temperature in philadelphia 36 degrees. that's still 15 below average, we got a night mixture of sunshine and clouds, breezy and cold, 33 in allentown for the high tomorrow. 34 in reading. the lower 30's in lancaster at the coast for the boardwalk in

cape may temperatures will be in the upper 30's. fast forward into monday into tuesday and this is why we have that winter storm watch. that is already posted it goes up monday at 8:00 p.m. we're tracking an area of low pressure that will eventually work its way up the eastern sea board and the nor'easter is what we are tracking and something that we already know with nor'easters we will be battling strong winds monday into tuesday. that track however is unknown, if it cuts up the coast or moves a little bit farther to the east. nonetheless, there will be a cold air and plenty of moisture with the storm system. something to take away and key points from the system we're tracking, later monday into tuesday, heavy snow accumulation is possible. and you're going to find that accumulation along and west of the storm track. and the way things are looking right now, looks set up just north and west of philadelphia. something to keep in mind, how much influence are we working with? ocean temperatures are in the 40's. so this could have a factor on
