we're looking forward to a major storm. >> reporter: let's get you outside and first we'll talk about the cold and focus on the nor'easter that's heading this way. it is cold, testers -- temperatures once again into the teens, the winds have eased up somewhat. you factor in the winds we have the windchills in the teens. most of the numbers were hovering around 5 or 6 degrees, in a sense we've doubled. it is cold for this time of the year. 3 below in the poconos. 9 in trenton. 19 in millville. feels like 16 in dover. once again if you're out this morning, add layers make sure you have the heavy winter coat on, scarf, gloves hat, bundle up, because the temperatures are very, very cold. satellite and radar starting out with cloud cover to the south, we'll see an increase in sunshine throughout the day

across route 73 has been hit and killed by a car. the action cam at that scene. the southbound lanes of route 73 near fellowship road when medics got to the scene at 3:20 a.m., they found the victim lying in the street unresponsive. medics transported him to vertua hospital where he was pronounced dead. the driver stopped at the scene, no word about any charges. >> new this morning, several chester county residents were forced into the frigid cold this morning after a cooking accident started a fire in the apartment complex. the action cam was at the scene on the 500 block of meadow lake drive in downingtown. fire broke out after midnight and went to two-alarms. when firefighters arrived they found flames shooting through the second floor apartment. the assistant fire chief said

the fire started in the kitchen. >> right now the cause of the fire appears to be accidental and appears to be due to unattended cooking. >> the blaze gutted one apartment and damaged 6 others. there were no reports of injuries, the residents are staying in the complex's community center while the red cross looks for temporary shelter. harrisburg firefighter has lost one of their own, a firefighter died heading to a call for a fire that killed a 3-year-old girl. a hover board that was plugged in charging suddenly exploded into flames. the little girl was killed and two others injured. denniseveau was killed when his car was struck by another vehicle. >> a car went through the stop sign and strucks vehicle pushing

this is a rare scene for parts of the south. one to two inches of snow fell in parts of eastern arkansas. that snow is is not sticking around for very long. they will see a warmup to 50 degrees today. the mid south region has been dealing with the rollercoaster warm and cold temperatures we've been dealing with. >> chris sowers talking the nor'easter heading our way. you say this is the storm we're waiting for all winter long. >> reporter: if this was january we would be talking about phenomenal snowfall numbers.

it could be worse if it was january or february. let's get you outside, we'll start you with the cold. it's a blustery morning around the delaware and the lehigh valleys temperatures in the teens, windchills in the teens and today if we're lucky we'll get into the mid 30s. just like yesterday it will be cold, the normal 52 we should top out 34, 35. radar is clear, mainly sunny skies to start, a few clouds fill in during the afternoon. windchills this tells the story, two below in the mountains. 9 in trenton, low to mid teens for everybody else, wilmington, 21, philadelphia, 12, turn the numbers around there. reading, 11 degrees, 19 in millville. 13 in atlantic city. satellite and radar like yesterday it should be a quiet day, we're not tracking any moisture, everything is off to the south, the nor'easter is in its infant stages in the process of developing now.

we'll see increasing clouds today and increasing for monday, monday night that's when the storm gets going. here's the windchill tracker. underneath a sun and clouds type-sky day. windchills in the 20s, 2:00 p.m., 25, 4:00 p.m., 26. 6:00 p.m., 26 degrees. let's fast forward monday night into tuesday, the nor'easter, we'll stop the clock at 1:00 a.m., the snow should start 10:00 p.m., monday, 1:00 a.m., tuesday, it will come down at a good clip here. what will happen, what will happen there will be the rain/snow line developing like we talked about yesterday. the question is how far north and west does the rain/snow line travel? that will determine snowfall throughout the region. it will stay across south jersey and delaware, getting into the i-95 corridor. late morning this is coming

down, you can see the darker shades of lavender that's heavy snow that will slide in the late morning hours into the first part of the afternoon. everything winds down between 3 and 5:00 p.m. the take away points snow developing monday night, around 9:00, 10:00 p.m. south and east, north and west maybe a little bit later. the heaviest occurs between 3 and 11:00 a.m. snowfall rates will range from 1 to 2 inches an hour. everything tapers off from southwest to northeast, to 3 to 5:00 p.m. 12 to 16 inches in the far western suburbs including the lehigh valley and the poconos. you get into the poconos and points to the north, may exceed 16 inches of snow. 8 to 12 inches for the city of philadelphia i-95 corridor and much lessor amounts as we get farther to the southeast, because we're not sure where the

downingtown. investigator say it looks like the fire started in the kitchen of a second story apartment. the fire has destroyed a unit and damaged 6 others. crews had a tough time working through the icy conditions. there are no reports of injuries. red cross helping those displaced by the fire. a building inferno in philadelphia forced almost 20 people from their homes, action reporter bob brooks talked to a man working next to the building when the fire started. >> by the time i got off the phone was an inferno. it was an inferno that quick. knowledge inferno indeed. that's wayne christian who was working on the house next-door when he looked out and saw the building was up in flames. cell phone video captures the moments before crews arrived, the flames were growing quickly. christian said there was a man inside. i kicked on the door he got out. whoever the person was didn't stick around the scene very

long. >> he is not around right now. >> reporter: fire officials said they got the call for a burning building on the 6200 block of arch street. with high winds and so many homes near it could have spread. >> absent the great work of our firefighters, every home would be on fire. they did an incredible job. >> reporter: several row homes nearby have heat damage. 20 residents are displaced. >> my daughter called me and told me that the house was on fire and she was trying to retrieve her stuff from in the house, they told her she couldn't go in. >> while crews battled the flames, all second do was watch. >> we're waiting to see. >> reporter: we're waiting for minimal damage for surrounding homes. the fire department said the cause is under investigation, luckily no injuries here.

bob brooks, channel 6 "action news." >> new this morning, police in burlington county have arrested a suspected bank robber. 20-year-old nicholas cavalero. the robbery prompted a lockdown of nearby schools. there were no injuries. we're getting the first look at the two suspects wanted for shooting a 13-year-old boy in the head in the philadelphia. this is an update to a story we brought you yesterday morning. police have released surveillance images of alleged gunman and accomplice. you see them approaching a table inside the chinese take-out on the 2000 block of- anyone with tips on the suspect is urged to call police. a harrisburg firefighter was killed by an alleged drunk driver.

he was heading to the fire when he was killed and just returned from a funeral for a colleague. he was a 21-year-old veteran of the department. he had just arrived home from a funeral of another harrisburg firefighter who died from cancer. he heard about a call of a house fire and a child trapped inside the home. a drunk driver in a stolen vehicle slammed into the car. the 19-year-old is under arrest. the house fire he was heading to, turned deadly. fire officials believe a hover board was the cause. >> worry getting reports of kids trapped on the third floor. >> reporter: devastating fire in harrisburg, p-a killing one child two others in critical condition. authorities say a hover board ignited the flames. this video shows the moment firefighters arrived giant flames consuming this row home,

storm. and snow totals look impressive. let's focus on the cold, very blustery once again. the high temperature was 32 degrees, the normal is 52, factoring in the winds it felt like the teens. today it will be easier to handle, but very, very cold for this time of the year. radars clear, mo moisture expected. monday is clear, as well, monday night after 9:00 p.m., 10:00 p.m. that's when this all begins. winter storm watch in effect for the entire area. the exception being cape may county and far southern new jersey where we are expecting a quick changeover to rain. actual air temperatures this morning, 17 in pottstown, 0 fleetwood, 21 in saint david, 18 in warrington. 24 in center city. kennett square 20, oxford 20, in the poconos, it's 11 degrees in

tanersville. glassboro, 23. hammonton, 22. 19 for vineland and gandys beach. satellite and radar starting out with a little bit cloud cover off to the south. clear skies to the north. we'll see a mixture of sun and clouds throughout the day. this, believe it or not, is our nor'easter. this is links up with the southern jet and gets the ball rolling as they say. they will skirt across the country and stop right here, when it hits the appalachians. the secondary low develops here and comes up the eastern seaboard. future tracker 6, we'll fast forward nothing going on. monday is quiet, as well. monday night between 9:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. when the snow begins, it will come down heavily right away. you can see the darker shades of lavender, 1:00 a.m., tuesday. heavy snow south jersey and points and west. you can see the rain/snow line pushing through southern new

jersey. this is the question mark how far north and west does the rain/snow line travel. if the storm shifts farther out to sea, this heavier band gets farther south and east, everybody sees the heavy snow. that's the question mark at this point. you get the idea this is heavy snow. probably coming down at a rate of 1 to 2 inches an hour during the height of rush. 10:30, same thing heavy snow flying for most of the region, by 3:00 p.m., 5:00 p.m., everything tapers off southwest to the northeast. let's focus in on the jersey shore. what we are expecting this is subject to change, it's early in the game, we think you'll start out as snow and go over to heavy rain during the height of the storm. we could see rainfall totals over an inch after a couple of inches of snow. moderate coastal flooding is expected especially during tuesday morning's high tide. there's the possibility of beach
