ef beach erosion anticipated in coastal communities. >> our two biggest concerns are the high tides. one in the morning on tuesday and one in the evening. >> reporter: and the storm will leave some of the coldest temperatures of the season in its wake. the silver lining? spring arrives monday. >> ah, so they say. >> so close. >> so close to it. so the colorado ligs of these twos systems into a monster nor'easter has triggered states of emergency up and down the east coast. paul williams joins us now with the latest. good morning. >> reporter: you're right. every storm's dressed like a starp dressed disaster. that's what we have going on right now. right now we have the storm that's actually creating this thick line of freezing rain and sleet. now initially we're thinking perhaps if the storm eases closer we may get a break. we're not getting a break at all. take a wider view of what's happening with this storm. this indeed is the monster that is. we still have active right here in purple all of these counties which include several states

still under a blizzard warning. that means we're talking about blowing snow, drifting problems and we're talking accumulations averaging between two to perhaps even four some of the models are now saying four inches per hour. when this begins to crank up. a lot of folks are saying what's the big deal? we're not seeing the big oomph of the storm just yet. hang on, okay? it's on the way. we're watching out for accumulations, for example, in some areas between 12 to 24 up towards the boston area and then we are looking out for another part of this system. now, this is a two-headed monster. not only are we dealing with tremendous snow but the winds. we actually have high wind warnings right now still? effect along the jersey shore throughout delaware up towards the boston area throughout massachusetts. this means we're going to be bracing for winds between 40 to 60-mile-per-hour wind gusts. we're talking about the combination of the snow, the accumulation of two perhaps even three feet of snow in some

affecting thousands of international flights including that by the way we should point out of the german chancellor, angela merkel was actually supposed to be in d.c. today and postponed that trip to meet with the president till later this week. and the morning's other big story is that potentially damaging report about the plan to replace obamacare. the report from the congressional budget analyst says 14 million people would lose coverage next year and that number would then rise to 24 million people by 2026. democrats believe those numbers are enough to end consideration of the current bill. >> trumpcare would be a nightmare for the american people causing tens of millions to lose coverage and millions more seeing the costs of their health care going up. >> but the budget office analysts also say that the republican plan would reduce federal deficits by nearly $340 billion over the next decade. still, president trump's health

>> thanks to maggie. this has been a very difficult system to forecast. >> tracking the storm all night though lucky for us, we have accuweather's paul williams for us. paul, thanks so much for staying up late with us. and what do we know so far? >> what we know right now is this is just the beginning and the final chapter is yet to be written. we have a low pressure system that's going to intensify as it moves to the north. whiteouts rate of 2 to 3 inches per hour. which means we could have some areas receive one, two, and even three feet of snow in some areas. we have the threat of thundersnow. if this isn't enough, this low combined with the other one that moved across from the midwest, there's another part of this that's really a big problem. we have strong winds along the entire east core. 40 to 60-mile-per-hour winds that will accompany this storm system as it strengthens and moves up the east coast. so yes, it's a serious storm. it is a meteorological monster and it's ripping its way right up the east coast. >> that's a lot to take in,

paul. but the big question now, how long will this all last? >> okay. i'm glad you said that because we talked about it being difficult to track initially. now here's the latest model run. starting at about 6:00, we can see this is just rain right here. but the blue we're talking about the snow, the darker blue is the trouble area. we're looking at a foot or more of snow. we start to see it moving by 7:30. it's heading down to the d.c. area over towards new york, philadelphia. watch that by lunchtime, new york getting pounded. new york getting pounded by this snow by noon. and then as this lifts a bit further, boston has the opportunity to get pounded with a mix of freezing rain and snow and this continue not only into tuesday evening but even going into wednesday. so that's why i'm saying the saga has just begun. just because you haven't been hit hard yet, hang around. it's headed your way. >> great, thanks.
