wind at the jersey shore and a slippery mess in between. >> trees and powers lines are down in the region and the storm is not done yet. it's tuesday afternoon and the big story is a late winter blast from mother nature. as we look live from the queen village section we see a tree blocking 6th and carpenter streets. one of many issues people are dealing with at this hour. we have live coverage from the lehigh valley and the shore. now we go to meteorologist, david murphy. >> you see dry air coming up into the region and melting away the last of this snow. it's still snowing in northeast philadelphia but beginning to die down a bit. but in south philadelphia, and center city we were drying out. some of this out to the north and west with the area of low

pressure to our latitude may be drawn back in to points to the south, but if it does happen it won't put much accumulation down. the worst of this appears to be of, that means what you have on the ground now in terms of snowfall amounts is what you can expect. we had diminished snowfall tote ago in the i-95 corridor and parts of south jersey. because of the predawn hours, up to 10:00 a.m. and starting before dawn. the low was so close to the coast it was able to punch up to philadelphia driving rain up close to the city and then that area of sleet and freezing rain that hung over the i-95 corridor for four or five hours, that brought down your snowfall rates or amounts but you got the same liquid in the form of ice and that was worse for the roadways, we have icy conditions on roadways and that is still lingering in parts.
12:03 pm
up north a little sleet mixing in but mostly snow, that is where we got closer to the projects snowfall amounts. lets check out snowfall in and around the i-95 corridor. 5 inches in philadelphia. reporting by fire company 66 and king of prussia shy of 6 inches, and 4 in florence and west windsor 5.5, and 2.3 in claymont. 10 inches in huffs church and nazareth 12.5 inches. and they may not be final numbers and the issue we still have is wind gusts, they are strong for the next several hours and into the evening gusts in the 50s. and at the shore -- and that is not so much active heavy snow that is the win picking up the

snow that has fallen but dry driving it into the air and making it low. and piling up drifts, that will be an issue for the next several hours into the evening. i'll be back with the full exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast, and talk about what is coming next. fortunately this is going into our review mirror. lets go live outside to lehigh valley correspondent, walter perez, he is standing by in allentown. one of the place with the most snow in our region. >> reporter: hey guys, as david mentioned it seems to be tapering off at this time in allentown. this is tillman street and cedar crest boulevard in allentown, not much going on and few cars out and about. and the snow has tapered off and until 11:30 this morning the precip was coming down and the wind was whipping. there is no question that this is a nasty storm. creating near whiteout conditions in allentown and the

officials say that the good news is for the most part people are staying home. >> we don't see many motorists and those out there are taking warnings to go slow. >> it's difficult to tell for sure but it seems that this part of the lehigh valley received 6 inches of precip so far and it keeps on coming, the few people driving around say they had no choice. >> i'm outside because i have to take my daughter-in-law to the prison for work. they don't shut down. fortunately, knock on wood. we have been quiet. >> we saw a few pedestrians walking around and eye stay wa was walking home from work and got stuck in the snow and called his bowedy who was going to drive to get his friend and looked outside and decided no. >> i'm just going to walk.
12:06 pm
>> it's pretty bad. >> yes, yes. sleet doesn't help anything either. >> your friend owes you big time. >> he would have done the same thing for me. >> he did not think he was being serious, i see some guy wobbling across the street -- didn't expect it but hey, i appreciate it a lot. that is a real friend right there. >> all right back out live, the other thing here is that it's not just a snow storm, from the time we go here at 8:00 this morning, we have seen everything from snow to sleet to freezing rain and right now kind of a snow drizzle and kind of breezy and roads have snow on them, they are passable but not safe by any stretch of the imagination. walter perez, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. authorities are warning drivers to stay off the roads because of problems like this one, several vehicles got stuck

on the ramp. 476 eastbound at conshohocken at 10:00 this morning. while roads seemed okay earlier now we get reports of traffic troubles because some roads are turning icy. >> lets switch live to the jersey shore where the storm is having a different impact. this is the scene in wildwood. the nor'easter is pounding the shore line with high wind and flooding and erosion, the major threat as long the coast this afternoon. with more lets go to meteorologist, melissa magee. >> hi rick and sara, david talked about the snow in the northwest suburbs but along the coast we have different problems with flooding a concern. also high winds. high wind warning is posted from 4:00 from ocean county to our area and cape may county on westward into dover and rehoboth beach. we are looking at winds at the coastline gusting from 50 to 60 miles per hour. and some peak wind gusts so far

? >> just a light snow and occasional gust of wind. the morning started with snow, a couple of inches of snow until it turned to sleet and freezing rain than created almost a crust of ice on top of the snow that had fallen. we saw a little bit of everything in this storm but it wasn't the storm that we expected. this was the scene midmorning as the train of plows clears german town avenue, overnight snow followed bay wintry mix made travel slow but bearable. >> it wasn't too bad just slippery out here. >> i thought we'd have at least four inches now. i'm surprised its more sleet. >> with schools and city offices closed roads were desolate except for some septa buses and a few that walked to work. >> a lot of snow means a long day of plowing and shoveling, it means more money.

is back now at a closer look at the conditions starting to improve slowly but surely. >> i'd still be careful of the icy roadways on the i-95 corridor where we replaced the snow with icy and freezing rain. looking at stormtracker 6 live double scan obviously a much better picture than before. philadelphia drying out and a guy tweeted me should i go out and shovel in northeast philadelphia. yes, get the garage door open. for now lets go ahead and go to the shore. the shore one of the many places still looking at strong winds and the gusts are strongest of all along the coast where the center of that nor'easter is off the coast of atlantic city and pushing north at this point. and winds are a part of the package not only here at the coast but inland for the rest of the afternoon and inland. here is the closer view as promised. we have dry air shooting up into

bucks county and montgomery county. you're really starting to see a clearing of the precipitation, we still have freezing rain and sleet east of trenton toward wrightstown, getting out of here but i would be concerned with icy road conditions and this appears to be breaking up as the storm exits and turns from the northwest and it's not out of the question that some sweeps back over the region. but if it does i don't expect little if any accumulation. winds from the north now at 24 miles per hour gusting to the 30s and higher than that at the shore. and temperatures across the region not pretty, 30 in reading and you see how the winds are started to decent -- from the north. still blustery the rest of the day, windchills are not kind and this is the real story if you are out shoveling or doing anything else.
12:26 pm
feeling like 17 degrees in philadelphia and 15 in allentown and the numbers are not great. bundle up and cover up the extremities, the windchills are a bigger problem the later we go through the afternoon, if you manage to get out now and start shoveling, i suppose 20 degree windchills are better than the teens, the winds continue northwest at 20 to 30 miles per hour with higher gusts, i mention that we could have wrap around snow showers later in the afternoon, here is future tracker take's 4:00, none of this is high impact. it pinwheels out. what to expect and think about through the rest of the afternoon. keep in mind we had heavy snow in the northern suburbs, that is a lot to shovel and the i-95 corridor, the snow amounts didn't wind up much. 4 to 6 inks in spots but ice on top of that and that could be hard on the back and hard on the heart.
12:27 pm
tough to shovel in the zone or the icy patch and the delaware river, be careful you don't pull out your back. remember high winds and dress appropriately for that. some people are not having problems out there. we got this from roxborough, from our twitter follower, bridgity, there is my guy taking the snow off the back of the car or at least trying to. your exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast we are going for an afternoon high of 34 degrees today and not expecting much melting and the conditions will maintain icy conditions overnight and the snow in the process of winding down and cold and ice overnight into tomorrow. tomorrow a high of only 30 degrees, clouds for the most part with perhaps sunny breaks and a passing snow shower particularly tomorrow afternoon is what it looks like.
12:28 pm
that is low impact. and thursday brisk and cold 36 degrees and st. patrick's day 38 degrees, at night could be mixed precipitation and some of that popping up through the day on saturday. for now i don't think it's a deal breaker, sunday mild and 48 under the sun on monday. >> thank you david. quick break and more "action news" when we come right back.
