it's the lehigh valley where our cameras show workers salting the sidewalks ahead of the deep freeze. it's going to be very cold tonight, very cold tomorrow with snow and ice on the ground and they are not melting anytime soon. it's tuesday night and the big story on "action news" is the big freeze over. we had our storm. we know we caught a break avoiding our worst fears, but we have to be careful of frozen streets and black ice. the power situation is a mixed bag across the area as temperatures go down. outages have risen in south jersey since the afternoon with psg at 8300 and atlantic city electric turned on half of its lights with 3300 to go. dell marva 18,800 down and picoo

normal operation hours. christie ileto is live in hattonfield tonight. what is the latest there? >> jim, we are seeing a lot of branches like this, glittering at a distance. up close, they are encased in ice. we see a lot of streets snow packed and icy. potential problem spots as the temperature continues to drop. >> re residents are digging outd drying off. >> the refreeze is a big concern because we have had a mixture of snow, sleet and rain. now that the wires are frozen, that's a big concern. >> tuesday's wintery mix is refreezing free branches and power line. the call for service was 2,000, nearly twice the average for a 24 hour period. the majority of calls were for downed trees and power lines.
