that was also blocked by another jung and should have never been blocked to start with. >> reporter: the president breaking the news at a rally. the nashville crowd of thousands erupting in a chorus of boos. it was the second attempt at banning people from six majority muslim countries. the judge in hawaii calling the executive order discriminatory. >> this ruling makes us look weak which, by the way, we know longer are, believe me. we're going to fight this terrible ruling. >> reporter: but it's not just the muslim ban but health care and russia. the administration under siege on several fronts and now some republicans in congress increasing the pressure on the fbi and the president to produce evidence to back up the unsubstantiated claim that former president obama tapped the phones at trump tower. the president appearing on television overnight attempting to explain what he meant. >> wiretap covers a lot of different things.

i think you're going to find some very interesting items coming to the forefront over the next two weeks. >> and a lot of people will be waiting to hear what the president said. i should point out, on his way back to d.c., he met with the reporters on air force one and said he plans to do more rallies, a rally he says at least every two weeks. >> it's clear he was not happy with that judge's decision. >> no, not at all. and neither were many of the people who were there. the crowd there in nashville at that location, they were wrapped around the building and waiting for several hours to see the president. so obviously, he's in his element when he does that. and the president has a new director, by the way, of national intelligence. voted overwhelming the senate that is, 85-12 to approve the nomination of former indiana senator dan coates, the fifth person to hold the position since it was created following the 9/11 terror attacks. he replaces james clapper who

retired at the end of the obama administration. >> a bombshell announcement from the justice department. it is bringing criminal hacking charges against twos russian officials and two hackers. russian intelligence officers are accused of a massive breach of yahoo! that affected at least half a billion user accounts. it's unlikely they'll ever set foot in a u.s. courtroom. >> we do not have an extradition treaty with russia. we would hope that they would respect our criminal justice system and respect that these charges and what they need to do. >> as for the other two hackers one is in custody in canada, the other is on the fbi's list of most wanted cyber criminals. >> a syrian diplomat is condemning what he calls a terrorist attack in damascus. six years to the day the nation's civil war began, at least 30 people were killed in the suicide bottoming inside a historic judicial building. it was the second major attack within a week in damascus. the u.n. special envoy to syria says the blast was designed to

hurt attempts at political talks. the u.n.-led negotiations are set to begin next thursday. and the new prime minister of the netherlands is celebrating what he calls the rejection of populism. mark rutte's conservative liberal party picked up 30 seats in the parliamentary elections. the populist challenger geert which woulders came in third with 19. a platform of closing mosques and banning the koran. >> a massive fire ripped through a chemical refinery in houston, next. firefighters were on the scene for several hours in houston, texas, before the blaze was contained. it was confined to a cooling tower and posed no threat to the community. the smoke from that fire could be seen for miles. no injuries were reported. it's unknown at this time what caused the fire. okay. so the u.s. women's national hockey team plans to boycott the world championships that are schedule later this month. and it's all over a pay dispute. the reithe reigning champions h

well, that yellow corvette led phoenix area police on a high speed chase first on an interstate and then on the surface streets. finally an undercover cop rammed the corvette with his suv. as you can see. and a few minutes later, the suspect died from a gunshot wound. it's not clear, however, if that gunshot wound was self-inflicted or from an officer. authorities say he was a suspect in a fatal shooting earlier in the day. >> and no one was seriously hurt when a collision in a new york suburb push add suv into a verizon store. somehow the vehicle crossed three lanes of oncoming traffic without hitting anyone and no one in the store injured. icy roadways likely to blame. >> very lucky there. a new study suggests a common pain killer increases your chance of heart failure. a danish study says taking ibuprofen can increase the risk

now a $250,000 30-year fixed rate mortgage will cost almost $100 a month more than it would have last year, a difference of more than $25,000 over the life of the loan. interest on private student loans, car loans, and credit cards also now going up. the average credit card balance now more than $5,000 with the fed expected to hike rates two more times this year, experts recommend moving fast. and paying it down, or consider converting to a 0% interest rate credit card, but pay attention to fees and when those teaser rates expire. but there is a silver lining for savers and retirees will get paid a little bit more to leave their money in the bank or in a cd. and in particular, we'll see that rate rise if the fed hikes interest rates two more times this year as they say they will. those savings accounts will become more attractive. rebecca jarvis,
