pulling over us throughout the course of the weekend and this will bring some rain and snow our way. again, it won't be a huge event but it is going to cause some problems. the national weather service just moments ago has posted a winter weather advisory for lancaster, berks, lehigh county, northampton county and the poconos starting tomorrow morning at 6:00 through sunday morning at 6:00. these are the areas for the best chance of accumulating snow and this system is really coming in pieces. late tonight after midnight this is when we'll get some light snow arriving north and west of the city. along i-95 it starts as a mix. rain south and east. during the day tomorrow for philadelphia or nearby suburbs it turns over to all rain showers. snow, though, up in the poconos and then saturday night into sunday morning we get some wraparound snow showers changing over to light snow and that's what could lead to modest accumulations. right now, though, feels pretty good out there. still on the cool side but at least we're back in the 40's. 44 degrees in philadelphia. atlantic city 49. allentown 43. and wilmington 46 degrees.

"action news" reporter jeanette reyes is live with the latest from the scene along seagull drive. jeanette. >> reporter: rick, a gas leak a possible gas leak is one of the many things being looked into as a possible

cause for this fire. take a live look here behind me. it started right in between both of these homes and quickly spread causing millions of dollars in damage. nancy woke up this morning to a bright sunny day. not a cloud in sight. but moments later around 7:45, the skies grew black. >> it just was awful. it just -- i never saw so much smoke. dark thick smoke billowed into the sky and blanketed this upscale waterfront neighborhood. two multi-million dollar homes along seagull drive were on fire. >> i turned around and the street started to fill up with the fire trucks and i looked over there and smoke was pouring out of the houses. >> reporter: more than 100 firefighters from six companies responded. these images from the avalon fire department shows the flames in between the cars just before they were engulfed. >> residents at one of the dwellings reported that the fire woke them this morning and they saw it on the outside

of the building. >> reporter: chief ed dean says a woman and her newborn baby were inside of the home along with another adult. that he got out in time. a family friend tells "action news" the owners, her parents, were on vacation in florida. she was house sitting and staying there with her husband. the second home affected was a vacation home. the owners were not there at the time of the fire. >> the challenge is the body of fire. two fairly large dwellings with multiple siding and things like that. once they get going, you need a lot of water. >> reporter: after more than an hour battling the blaze, the homes are a complete loss. >> everything is gone in that house. it's totally destroyed. just a shell so it's sad. >> reporter: and we're told the owners of the home where the young mother was house sitting, they'll be running from florida in just a couple of hours. we are told that this is their primary residence. reporting in avalon, jeanette reyes channel6 "action news." rick. >> jeanette, thank you.

one person died in this early morning fire in burlington county. a neighbor took this video of the deadly flames at a home on the 400 block of cornell avenue in pemberton. the 71-year-old homeowner escaped but a woman in her 40's was trapped upstairs and died. investigators are trying to figure out what sparked the blaze. they're also working to identify the victim. >> a pennsylvania state trooper has been arrested for the deaths of his wife and newborn daughter. joseph miller is charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter for the 2014 deaths. miller called 911 saying he had shot his pregnant wife while preparing to clean his gun. well, she was rushed to the hospital and doctors performed an emergency c-section but were unable to save either of them. investigators say joanna miller what you shot at close range. miller has resigned from his job. his bail has been set at $100,000. well, 28-year-old adam

timbario is charged with a deadly hit-and-run. his truck ran over donna purnell in pottstown. purnell was walking across route 100 at the time and died at the scene. investigators say timbario tried to sell his truck right after the crash but the potential buyer noticed the damage and contacted police. timbario was arraigned today on multiple charges. >> president donald trump welcomed german chancellor angela merkel to the white house today. the two leaders held a series of meetings on everything from boosting business and trade to strengthening nato immigration and fighting isis. the president praised the german chancellor today saying their meeting was very productive as the two took to the podium today, merkel said it was "much better to talk to one another and not about one

another." the president took a number of questions tickly about healthcare. he predicted that a new healthcare law aimed at repealing and replacing obamacare would pass and soon. >> it's all coming together. we're going to have great healthcare. it's going to be passed i believe. i think substantially pretty quickly. it's coming together beautifully. >> reporter: the president who once called nato obsolete today said he supports the european alliance but added that all of the countries must pay their fair share. reporters questioned president trump on his claims that former president barack wire tapped trump tower. he said he quoted a television reporter when tweeted about it and joked about the allegations that the u.s. wire tapped merkel in 2013 saying "at least we have something in common perhaps." rick. >> alicia, back here citizens bank customers woke up to find out their direct deposits hadn't posted.

a lot of people were concerned especially because this is not payday. they could not make deposits using the app. there was a delay in transactions is posting because of a processing issue. by 10:45 the prob of policemen was fixed. citizens bank has apologized and says customers do not have to worry about fines. j. c. penney is the latest major retailer to shut down stores and today we learned that four of them are in our area. ly in pennsylvania, the company plans to close the stores of the king of prussia mall, the willow grove mall and the one at philadelphia mills. in new jersey, the j. c. penneyological shutter its location at the rio grande plaza. the closures are expected to happen in june. some 5,000 jobs are being affected nationwide. >> one person is in custody after a double stabbing at 22nd and market in center city. one man was stabbed in the back 13 times. hawpe rushed to the hospital after the incident happened around 3 o'clock this morning. another man was and stabbed in the hand and later taken into custody.

investigators believe the two were involved in an argument before the stabbings. investigators are still trying to figure out why a car was in the path of a freight train. no one was hurt in this head-on crash this morning in philadelphia's tioga-nicetown section but and officials believe the car got stuck on the snow covered tracks on the 3400 block of westemoreland street. the car was damaged but the train was not. >> local commuters might have to pay more to ride septa beginning next year. the transportation authority wants to raise fares on the regional rail plus for riders who purchase single trips. monthly and weekly trans pass customers would also see an increase. if the septa board approves the changes they would take effect in july of 2018. >> it is time now for the "action news" traffic report. >> matt pelman in the "action news" traffic center t.g.i.f. to you, matt. >> yes, and happy saint patrick's day, rick and sharrie o williams. live in 95 in delco. no luck of the irish here.

slow go in the southbound lanes past the airport through the exit of 476 the blue route its an accident here that was blocking lanes for awhile but 93 just got it pushed off to the side. still it's attracting attention and you can see police there on the scene so 19 miles per hour as you travel southbound on 95 in delco. it's also been really heavy on the northbound side because of an earlier crash near academy. the long gone but speeds in the 20's and 30's the whole way coming out of center city this afternoon. and we had a crash on the schuylkill as well. didn't want to be left out of the party. eastbound by university avenue now gone but extra heavy as you come in from the roosevelt boulevard. watching a wreck in pottstown this afternoon along 100 southbound at king street. have one in falls township bucks county along lincoln highway, business one near olds boulevard. you want to stick with route one super highway. no major problems reported there. and across the river in delran burlington county missing a manhole cover so the right lane is blocked along 130 northbound at haines mill road. let's grab the ipad do the

the five alarm blaze engulfed an apartment building in raleigh north kore north carolia overnight: the high end apartment building was under truck scale at the time the flames ignited. >> police say a wisconsin man poisoned his wife by using eye drops. 45-year-old darren tight allegedly spiked his wife's soda with visine for several weeks. the woman noticed that her health was declining about a month ago right after she told her husband she wanted a divorce. doctors say visine contains an ingredient that can cause serious illness including breathing and blood pressure complications. >> in new york city today, friends and family members are remembering an emt who was killed on the job. yadira arroyo was a 44-year-old single mother of five children and a 14 year veteran of the fdny.

today we are learning new details about the man accused of running her down including a long list of his prior arrests. 25-year-old josé gonzalez is accused of running over arroyo with her own ambulance. today he told reporters that he's innocent, did nothing wrong. police say gonzalez was riding on the back bumper of the ambulance thursday night and then jumped into the ambulance and sped off when the emt's got out to respond to a call of a carjacking. well, that's when gonzalez struck arroyo killing her. police say he was high on drugs and has been arrested 31 times before. >> taken aback and very upset about what happened. she died doing what she loved. >> a memorial service is under way at this very moment for arroyo, her colleagues coming together to celebrate her life and her work with the department. gonzalez is now charged with murder grand larceny and other charges and he's facing another judge later today. new york city officials have been praising the good

samaritans who held him down until they could arrest him last night. sharrie, just a bright spot in a very tragic story. >> yeah, all right, alicia, thank you. the city of philadelphia is that cracking down on dealers and distributors who are not complying with the new beverage tax. the city's revenue commissioner says some businesses still have not registered for the tax yet. investigators are going store to store now and if they find a place that is not in compliance, they will be fined and audited. they also risk losing their license. the beverage tax is expected to generate $410 million over the next five years. all right, closing out the week as we take a look at today's closing numbers on this friday, another mixed bag type of day and the not a lot of movement at the closing. the dow down nearly 20 points on the day t-the nats dac up barely a quarter of a point and the s & p 500 down just over three points. >> if you're looking for a summer job you may want to head to the jersey shore this weekend. the casino pier and breakwater

lots of sunshine, blue skies. roads respect fine, main roads. still a lot of snow out there, though and we will be adding a bit to that over the weekend. right now, though, temperatures in the 40's still running close to 10 degrees below normal but at least we're back in the 40's. last two days we were stuck in the 30's. 42er in philadelphia, allentown 43. the same in reading, wilmington 46, cape may 42 and trenton currently 44 degrees. satellite6 and action radar showing we're dry for now. if you look out across the midwest you can see this area of moisture, it's kind of a complicated system. we have a warm front first of all and then the upper level low that will meander right over us and that will bring us periods of precipitation through the weekend. so, future tracker showing around midnight lots of clouds. we could have a few sprinkles breaking out west of philadelphia. i think most of that will be evaporating so if you're heading out to any parties for saint patrick's day, you should be fine tonight. early tomorrow morning,

though, this is when it's actually reaching the ground and much like tuesday's nor'easter, it's all about location. areas south and east of philadelphia rain showers at 7:30 in the morning, north and west we've got the snow and philadelphia i think we'll start as a mixture of some sleet, some freezing rain but a pretty quick turnover to just rain showers during the day for our entire viewing area except for the poconos. the poconos it will stay as snow this entire event and then as that upper level low kind of transfers its energy to a coastal low this is when we get some wraparound snow showers beginning late tomorrow night around 11 o'clock. pretty fast moving system by 8 o'clock in the morning the snow showers will be exiting the coast. so, what are we talking about as far as accumulations? for philadelphia, most of the models showing less than an inch, the gfs a little bit more robust but still showing less than 2-inches, allentown could get a little bit more and you do have a winter weather advisory there but most of the computer models showing around 2-inches of snow. so, not a big event but it

will cause some prob else will. so, the four day at 4:00 showing tomorrow we'll see some snow and sleet very early, changing over top rain tn showers, the high 44 degrees. saturday night into sunday morning light snow. by the afternoon on sunday, 46 degrees and spring arrives on monday with a temperature of 55 degrees. seasonable. we bump it up to 57 on tuesday but don't put the winter coats away quite yet. after that temperatures will be dropping. i'll talk more about that in the seven-day forecast its a transition into spring. >> it's a transition. >> got to be patient. >> that's a nice way to put it. >> okay. remains unidentified, his killer remains very much at large. >> first about five gunshots and then two soon after that. >> reporter: vittorio rosario says he heard those gunshots behind his home just before midnight then moments later. >> five minutes later, heard a lot of screaming in the back. so i looked out the back window and realized the guy, he must have realized that he had drug the body down and he was just screaming, you know, he was highly upset. >> reporter: it was rosari rosario's neighbor arriving back home believing he had run over a man and later did he realize the dead man suffered at least five gunshot wounds to the head. >> he thought he ran over some trash and unfortunately it was an unidentified black male who was shot multiple times in the head. >> it is very sad to find out someone had gotten murdered

and ran over right behind your home. >> reporter: the shooting victim remains a john doe at this hour and the gunman remains at large. police believe it may have been a drug deal gone bad. >> he did have some small amount of drugs on him and some cash. >> reporter: apparently for sale. >> i would say, yes. >> reporter: normally this section of town called overbrook farms is quiet except for the recreational shooting of deer in the woods across the street. >> it's a quiet neighborhood. we don't usually hear anything. >> reporter: but you do hear gunshots every now and then. >> yeah, but it's never no bodies around. >> reporter: rick, police need the public's help here to try to solve this murder. there's a $20,000 reward we ask you to remember for information that helps philadelphia police solve this case. live at police headquarters in center city, i'm vernon odom, channel6 "action news." >> all right, vernon, thank you. an accused bank robber in

philadelphia got away from the scene of the crime but didn't get too far. chopper6 hd was overhead when the suspect was captured in bridesburg after a brief chase by police. the robbery was at the prudential bank in holmesburg. a witness told police the robber drove off that of a white car. the fbi is investigating tonight. three vehicles including a dump truck were involved in a crash in chester county. this was the scene just before 9:00 this morning on route 41 near the baltimore pike split in avondale. the dump truck landed on its side and spilled its load of sand. a pickup truck and a car were also involved. no one was hurt in the incident. it took crews about two hours to finally clear the scene. >> the search is on for a suspect accused of committing two robberies in new castle county in the past few weeks. delaware state police have identified the man as 26-year-old michael berwick. these two photos are both of berwick. one shows him with a beard the other without. through surveillance video

detectives identified berwick as the suspect of a robbery at the great wall chinese restaurant and at a dunkin' donuts. both businesses are in newark. if you know anything about berwick's whereabouts you're asked to call police. >> all right. meteorologist adam joseph -- cecily tynan is here on this friday but we were talking last weekend of winter and it's going to feel like it. >> it is, it's going to feel like it and it's going to look like it as well. we have messy weather on the way but today we've got the sunshine, blue skies. let's show you a live snapshot from camelback ski resort. what a day to be on the slopes. you can see just wall to wall sunshine, plenty of snow up there. the current temperature is not too bad for the poconos, 37 degrees. still a bit on the breezy side. winds out of the northwest at 14 miles an hour so the wind chill is 28 degrees. they got about 2 feet of snow in the poconos on tuesday. double scan live showing that we've got some more snow on the way. as far as philadelphia, tomorrow a lot of this will be rain showers switching over to some snow by sunday morning.

in the poconos, though, it will be all snow tomorrow, light snow generally, about two to 5-inches up there, 34 degrees and the ski forecast on sunday looking really nice. the sunshine will be back with a temperature of 36 degrees. i'll talk more specifically about what types of precipitation to expect over the weekend and how much as far as snow accumulations. not going to be a major storm but we are looking at some accumulation. i'll talk about that in the seven-day, to. i don't want to talk about snow. >> if you're a skier like the two of us. >> i'm trying to get you to come ski with me. >> i want pictures. >> i want video. >> i would buy him lift tickets. >> is there a buffet? the creative force behind this very special and very important new doll accessory a hijab. she's the mom of a five-year-old girl and first made one for her little girl's barbie. the woman on the left there says she has been harassed for wearing her head scarf and wanted her daughter to be proud of their culture and religion. her friend gisele the one in the black dress there got on board. they're hoping schools and nonmuslim parents get these doll hijabs to help spread awareness and acceptance for this generation. they call it hello hijab. proceeds from the doll sized head scarf go to charity a muslim seam stress in pittsburgh is mass producing them. they'll be available for six dollars a piece starting april 1st. pretty cool stuff. how about this? a super unusual exhibit at the smithsonian that's making museum goers parked a bit. the lier shorn museum and scup they are garden encourages

philadelphia so this is a different -- a better vantage point. there's the van right on its side. again northbound lanes of 95 between bridge street and cottman avenue. looks like a tow truck is there already so hopeful its not on its side too long. ladder truck remains here as well. you can see the glass all over that right lane and again, it's just one or two left lanes that are squeezing by on the northbound side of 95 here in northeast philadelphia. spot that would normally be busy on a friday afternoon anyway. let's hit the maps i want to show you some of the speeds coming out of the city on the northbound side 7 miles per hour, 10 miles per hour, basically now it's a solid line from washington avenue the whole way up to that accident scene, again, northbound between bridge and cottman. we're also watching a crash on the southbound side by the blue route. luckily that one is off to the side. have a wreck on macdade boulevard right by i476 the blue route causing some restrictions. our crash in falls township bucks county along lincoln highway near olds boulevard has cleared out. still though missing that manhole cover in tell ran burlingtodelranburlington count.

this is over the smith memorial arch and you can see that snow on the ground and we did have a good amount of sunshine today and temperatures in the 40's so some of that melting has been going on. but we're going to be adding a touch of snow over the weekend. but double scan live showing right now we are drying. we should be staying dry until after midnight so if you're heading to any parties, joining rick to drink some green beer, should be fine tonight. temperatures right now 44 degrees in philadelphia. normal high for this time of the year is 53 so still on the cool side but at least we're getting some of that melting going upon. 43 in allentown. cape may 42. reading 43. and the poconos right now 37 degrees. so, satellite and action radar showing that the clouds are beginning to move in out of the west and you can see there's a line of precipitation. this is a warm front. there's an upper level low that will ride along that front and what that will do is bring us snow and rain showers over the weekend. so future tracker showing 7 o'clock tomorrow its all about location. south and east of philadelphia, you've got rain.

around philadelphia early in the morning we'll have a little bit of mixed precipitation to the northwest it's snow and then as we head through the day, the boundary level -- layer will really warm up. so that means it is rain showers across our entire viewing area except for the poconos where it will stay as snow and then as we head into sunday, this transfers its energy to a coastal system. so, by 11 o'clock starting to see that changeover back to snow. that should be completed early sunday morning by about 8:30 some lingering snow showers but essentially that system is moving away from us. so, what are we talking about? west of wilmington, south of wilmington, extreme south jersey, this is mainly a rain event. a few flakes. by sunday morning around philadelphia, though, we're look, at a coating to perhaps an inch and then you get a little bit north of philadelphia, north of warminster into the lehigh valley one to 2 inches and it looks like the sweet spot will be the northern lehigh valley and the poconos. two to 5-inches of snow by sunday morning.

this is a band where we'll see the most lift. the steadiest snow. have to watch to see if that band sneaks a little bit far to the south but looks like at this point it would be across the lehigh valley, the poconos into manhattan so kind of a nuisance event but it's going to be unsettled through the weekend. during the day on saturday any snow mix changing over quickly to periods of rain. not any road issues during the day with temperatures in the 40's. saturday flight intsaturday nigs when were he get the switch over to show. temperatures drop below freezing. be careful driving saturday night, sunday morning. the exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast not a real pretty weekend. some snow and sleet changing over top rain showers tomorrow. 44 degrees. very light snow sunday morning then partly sunny, 46 but, hey, when spring arrives on monday, temperatures back to where we should be for this time of the year, 55 degrees. we bump it up to 57 on tuesday. but then it's brisk, much colder on wednesday, 42 degrees. thursday sunny but cool, also

former state trooper stands charged in the death of his wife and their unborn child. it's friday night. and the big story on "action news" is the new charges in that death investigation. >> "action news" reporter bob brooks live in norristown now with that story for us. bob. >> reporter: rick and monica, such a sad story. again, three years ago joseph miller is accused of shooting and killing his pregnant wife, both she and the unborn baby would not survive and tonight he is now charged with involuntary manslaughter. three years ago, former pennsylvania state trooper joseph miller told detectives he accidentally shot his wife in the head at their east norriton home. as a result, 34-year-old joanna miller and her unborn baby died. today joseph miller is now under arrest. he's charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter. the decision to do so comes again three years after the incident. we tried reaching out to the montgomery county d.a.'s office for explanation of why t
