wintry mix. rain and snow and sleet pellets mixed in, as well. rain showers east of delaware county. we pushed it east ward. as a matter of fact we'll zoom into upper bucks and montgomery counties. this is the freezing line right here. put it on the radar. the 32-degree line. anywhere east of that line, temperatures are below freezing. this is, even though the model is showing snow, this is actually falling in the form of light rain, this is freezing drizzle. as the rain pushes into the colder ground it will freeze on contact. there could issues with black ice in upper bucks and upper montgomery county. these numbers will eventually climb, very mild this afternoon, upper 30s, low 40s. the slick spots will last half-hour, 40 minutes at best, but then the numbers warm. quakertown below freezing, 31. pottstown, 31. saints davids, well above freezing, 37. center city 40.

it is this mild stuff that's lifting north over the next few hours. temperatures in the 40s for south jersey and delaware, as well. forecast today, scattered rain showers and lots of clouds, 45 degrees. >> for the update, folks, you can find the seven-day forecast and live look at storm tracker 6 live double scan radar at any time of the day. go to our website 6abc.com/weather. time 9:02 a.m., a woman is recovering after she was critically injured in a bad wreck. this happened in the philadelphia's holmesburg section. the driver of this mangle pickup was speeding and suspected of being under the influence. the truck broke a pole in half of the 8200 block of frankford avenue. we learned that a woman who was a peacialg in the truck was -- passenger in the truck was trapped in the wreckage. crews had to turn live wires off and pull them off the truck before firefighters could get to the victim. she is in critical condition in

the hospital. the driver a man in his 20s is in police custody. in the city's hunting park section, a routine assault turned into something much bigger. philadelphia police were called to west jerome street at 10:00 p.m. there officers found a man who was pistol whipped, officers found an ak-47 assault rifle and marijuana plants and several large bags of fertilizer. police called in the fire department and haz/mat to ts out the bags, they turned out not to be a threat. the unidentified armed man was taken into custody. this morning police continue to search for the person who sexually assaulted a woman in the city's germantown section last night. police were called to the 1300 block of west roberts avenue after a woman called 911 screaming for help. the woman told police that she was forced inside a vacant home

boy a man armed. it happened at 10:30 p.m. last night. she said the man sexually assaulted her and then ran away. the woman ran to a nearby home and got help. she was taken to einstein medical center to be treated. it is 9:04 a.m., we turn to attention to a defiant president donald trump who is holding firm to the allegations of wiretapping despite congressional leaders on both sides of the aisle saying they have not seen proof of this. david wright is in west palm florida. >> reporter: standing along angela merkel, trump joked about how the obama administration eavesdropped on her. check out that look on her face, quite possibly the most awkward moment in u.s./german relations

>> reporter: on friday, justice department delivered classified materials to capitol hill. sources say they find no reason to change their mind even though the justice department fully complied with congressional request to hand over all evidence apparently no proof to corroborate the president's claim not that that seems to bother the white house. the press secretary of state told reporter, i don't think we regret anything. that was abc's david wright with the report. hillary clinton came to pennsylvania for a speech st. patrick's day address at the irish women of scranton. that is her father's hometown. it is up to everyday citizens not politics to bridge the political divide. sparks flew during a house

fire in north philadelphia. chopper 6 hd taking you to the scene 2700 block of north krosky street. as the electrical wires sparked near the home. no injuries were reported. minutes after that fire, firefighters were called to the 2400 block of south franklin street in south philadelphia. it was difficult for firefighters to fight this fire because the street was too narrow for the fire truck. so firefighters had to drag hoses from the street corner. two row homes were damaged by the smoke and flames. no injured were reported. bad news for thousands of workers at jc penny. the company plans to close 138 stores, 5,000 people will lose jobs. four stores in this area, king of prussia, willow grove park and rio grande in cape may

county. it is another sign that the retail landscape is changing. >> i'm going to get a deal. >> reporter: it didn't take long for bargain hunters to show up at philadelphia mills for going out of business sales. they are slated to close this spring. >> we're going to miss them. i shop hear all the time. >> it's ashame it is closing, it's been around for a long time. >> reporter: it's been a rough year for tra -- traditional department stores. jc penny failed to innovate it's not just online shopping that's to blame. off line retailers have learned to give customers what they want. >> they can go in once a week or every few days and literally see new stuff on the shelves and especially for young people that's important.

about how the model was showing all snow. i talked about how this was falling in the form of freezing rain. it's start to correct itself. we're seeing the shades of blue. this is bucks county, upper montgomery county, what we're seeing a light freezing rain shower. that rain is freezing on the colder ground. within the next hour, upper bucks and montgomery counties for a brief period of freezing rain and drizzle. you can see a thin glaze of ice developing on untreated surfaces. temperatures will warm quickly. by late no morning the numbers e in the mid 30s. quakertown, 31. pottstown, fleetwood slatington 31 degrees, warrington, 33 degrees, saint davids, 37. center city, that's not bad, 40 degrees. and we're seeing 40s off to the southeast as as well. villas, 42. him smyrna, 41. everybody else close to 40 degrees, maybe a degree or

two cooler. here's the water vapor shot what we're watching overnight tonight, a brief period of snow falling over detroit. you see that that counter clockwise swirl that dives off to the southeast arrives in the form of snow showers. what we're seeing this morning and what we'll see overnight tonight, not a big deal. future tracker 6 cloudy skies today scattered showers throughout the day, it's not a wash, but you'll need the umbrella if you're out and about. 3:00 p.m., even the poconos you're switching over to rain or at least a few showers. later this evening, scattered showers throughout the area. snow is off to the west. what the latest commuter runs have done they are taking the piece of energy and drop it off to the southwest it's not even falling in the viewing area. it suggests cloudy skies overnight tonight. we'll see if the trend continues, either way things have backed off considerably than what the models were showing yesterday. baltimore and washington, d.c. metro area will see winter white

>> so glad you stayed with onen incident at paris' orly airport. a man grabbed a gun from soldier guarding the airport. the suspect ran away and tried to hide in an airport shop and was shot and killed by security forces. nobody else was hurt. flights to the airport have been redirected. no word on the suspect's identity or a possible motive. paris police say a shooting earlier this morning is connected to the airport incident. in that case we know an officer was shot in the face during a traffic stop. two planes collided over a busy shopping mall in montreal canada. investigators say one of the planes crashed on to the mall roof him the other crashed in the parking lot.
