few months carrying out the scam. investigators can't figure out exactly what they're doing other than confusing the cashiers. only later is the theft discovered. march 4th, marlton, new jersey. march 3rd, deptford, new jersey. december 11th, brick, new jersey. three times these two women have been captured by surveillance cameras at burlington coat factory stores. most recently at this location in the marlton crossing shopping center in marlton, new jersey. police say they're pulling off a well-rehearsed scam. >> oh, definitely. this is a well-prepared, well-practiced plan. they have it down. they work together. he had did it perfectly. >> reporter: this grainy surveillance video from the marlton store shows the women in action. police say they came to the cash register and purchased hundreds of dollars in merchandise including a number of men's suits, only to immediately return the suits. cash is counted. cash is exchanged.

again and again. >> we definitely see these two females confusing the cashier. they have some type of scam they're doing. they're going back and forth, returning merchandise, paying for merchandise. it's probably about a 15-minute ordeal from beginning to end. >> reporter: at one point, one of the women moved to a different register and did the same thing, purchasing, then returning merchandise. and somehow making off with money. only after the women left did the store management discover one register here was short $1,120. same at the other two stores. cash regsters came up short but the women were long gone. police hope to find them before they scam yet another location. >> the one female has bright red dyed hair. we're hoping that somebody recognizes her, somebody sees them in a -- in maybe another store and can call the police as it's happening or call us and give us some information. >> reporter: of course, police also would like store managers to be on the lookout.

every subway and elevated line during the hours after school is isdis monday -- dismissed. republican leaders postponed today's crucial vote on the health-care bill. the prospects for the passage of the american health-care act were grim this morning with many republicans speaking out agains. house republicans plan to meet behind closed doors tonight to consider can the next steps. sources tell abc news a vote is expected tomorrow. the plan is unilaterally unpopular among democrats including philadelphia mayor jim kenney. keby held a -- kenney held a press conference this morning in city hall to sell out the negative effects of the gop health-care plan and what they would have on the city. according to the city, the affordable care act has given health-care to more than 220,000 philadelphians. now to a sudden crack in the case after waves of bomb threats against jewish community centers in the united states. tonight, a teenager is behind bars who police say is their main suspect. the bomb threats were made nationwide including against two

in our area, the jcc was targeted, and one in delaware was threatened four times since the beginning of the year. abc's has the story tonight. >> reporter: police arrested a 19-year-old israeli jewish man as the prime suspect in a wave of anonymous bomb threats that raised fears of a surge in anti-semitism here in the united states. >> we managed to get to that suspect after having is concrete intelligence from different security agencies around the world. >> reporter: inclusion the fbi. since the beginning of the year, there have been more than 150 bomb threats that enforced the evacuation of community centers and day schools. >> we've been awful sure that he's responsible for all the calls that were made. >> reporter: the investigation is still ongoing. israeli police officials said the suspect used sophisticated methods to cover his track. the suspect has dual citizenship and had lived in the u.s. at one

time. he was home-schooled and his lawyer raised medical issues. >> this is a young person that, because of his very, very serious medical conditions, didn't serve in the army, didn't go to high school, didn't go to elementary school. >> reporter: israeli officials have not released the suspect's name, though he did appear in court. he will be held until march 30th. his father was also arrested. abc news, new york. a new policy to protect undocumented students' rights to a public education has passed the first hurdle in newark, delaware. it establishes a uniform criteria to prepare staff responding to requests about undocumented students and protect them from obstruction charges. the first reading of the proposed policy was approved unanimously on march 21st. the proposal was introduced by board member young. >> the policy is really built around the idea that we will cooperate but a we're going to make sure that the request is

lawful before we do. >> if the second read something approved in april, it will become policy. new numbers from the nfl show this year's draft could be the most well-attended since the league took the event on road. as of tuesday night, 156,000 fans had signed up for next month's nfl draft experience. that's up from 48,000 fans in the same time frame last year when the draft was in chicago. the league says it will select about 3,000 people to win tickets inside the draft theater. everyone else will have to watch it outside, and they'll be able to. the draft begins on the ben franklin parkway on april 27t april 27th. >> yep. that's going to be fun. >> and speaking of the parkway, the iconic street is about to celebrate a big milestone. >> that's right. the parkway is turning 100 years old this year. and today, city officials laid out plans for a big birthday bash. the white chicago police officer accused of a fatal shooting of a black teenager is a facing new charges. a grand jury add 16 counts of aggravated battery with a firearm to the first-degree murder charges against officer jason van dyck. he shot 17-year-old la quan mcdonald 16 times in october of 2014. van dyke was thanked in 2015 when the video of the shooting was released. a senior u.s. official says the trump administration is set to approve the keystone excel pipeline project. that approval is expected to come on monday. it will reverse the obama administration's decision to block the controversial oil pipeline. the project will funnel crude

oil from kbd to refine -- canada to refineries on the gulf coast. its approval will follow years of debate and strong opposition from environmental glups. joining -- groups. researchers are reig nate nighing the debate about what causes cancer. they say a good proportion of cases are just due to bad luck. >> health reporter and registered nurse ali gorman joins us now to break it down. >> reporter: researchers at johns hopkins say two-thirds may be due to random or unpre-dithable mistakes in the body which is just bad luck. they say when normal cells divide there are often mistakes in replicating the dna. in most cases goodbye it doesn't cause any harm. the problem is if it happens with a gene that can drive cancer. they still believe about 29% of cancers are due to environmental or behavioral factors and about 5% to heredity. and they also say it depends on the type of cancer. in fact, two-thirds of lung cancer cases were due to environmental factors such as

smoking. the glowing number of children and teenagers who have dibeat may not be getting something crucial in their health-care. that's regular eye exams. a team looked at young patients and found that only two-thirds with type i diabetes were screened and less than half with type ii saw an eye specialist. rates are lower in minority communities. diabetes slowly damages blood vessels and the ones in the eyes are especially vulnerable. finally, when it comes to kids and juice, how much is too much? new research shows one serving of 100% fruit juice per day is fine and it is not linked to weight gain. there had been controversy whether the sugar from fruit in pure juice would have the same negative effects as sugar-sweetened fruit drinks. but a new study backs up the american academy of pediatrics' recommendation. again that is one serving of 100% fruit juice is okay and

hello again. monica's off. alicia vitarelli joining us tonight. and here's what's happening on "action news," thursday evening. we now know the name of the suspect accused of carrying out the terror attack in london and the names of the people who lost their lives including an american who was celebrating his wedding anniversary. we're live with the latest. trouble on the house intelligence committee after the chairman briefed the president about the investigation when democrats and republicans are saying about the mop. and two men are behind bars after authorities say they carried out a robbery spree targeting more than half a dozen delaware businesses. with isis now claiming responsibility for the terror attack in london, we are learning new information about the man responsible and the victims including an american from utah. four people were killed in yesterday's attack and at least 29 were injured, serlk

among the dozens injured. >> we are not afraid, and our resolve will never waiver in the face of terrorism. >> reporter: meanwhile, british prime minister theresa may is defiant responding to isis claiming responsibility for the attack calling the suspect a soldier of the islamic state. the suspect caught in this surveillance video driving a gray hyundai across a packed bridge aiming for pedestrians, then crashing into a railing outside parliament was shot and killed by police. he has now been identified as khalid masoon, a 52-year-old born in britain with a lengthy criminal history but none related. police say they believe he was a lone wolf confirming he was known to domestic intelligence but was not on their radar at the time of the attack. and, according to police, the 52-year-old suspect had been in and out of jail on assault and weapons offenses. and his last conviction was in 2003. and so police say they are still

trying to figure out what exactly triggered this attack. reporting live in new york, i'm elizabeth herr, "channel 6 action news." >> thank you. belgium authorities have tightened security in the port city of antwerp after a frenchman drove his car at a high speed through a busy shopping area forcing pedestrians to jump out of the way. the federal prosecutor's office in brussels said the car was intercepted this morning. in the car, authorities say, they found knives, a shotgun, and a gas can with an unknown liquid. france's president is comparing the incident to yesterday's attack in london saying the drive driver was, quote, trying to kill people or create a dramatic event. luckily no one was hurt. in washington, the chairman of the house intelligence committee privately apologized to his democratic colleagues today after briefing president trump and then going public with information about secret intercepts before talking to committee members. representative devin nunes also

today the committee is hearing from the lawyers, advocacy groups and former colleagues of gore such. among them, the american bar association. the aba calls gorsuch well qualified, but that evaluation is doing little to convince democrats to vote for gorsuch. his nomination now seems headed for a filibuster showdown that could force republicans to change the senate rules to confirm him. >> if this nominee cannot earn 60 votes, a bar met by each of president obama's nominees and george bush's last two nominees, the answer isn't to change the rules. it's to change the nominee. >> normal rules require 60 votes to confirm a supreme court nominee. senate minority leader schumer is joining at least seven other democrats who have announced they about going to -- are going to vote against gorsuch. david muir will have more on the potential filibuster of president trump's nominee.

the house battle and the latest on the terror attack in london. you can watch that following "action news at 6". in other news tonight, philadelphia police made an arrest in the murder of a 25-year-old man in kensington. chopper 6 h.d. was over the scene at about 11:30 this morning here on the 2300 block of east oakdale street. police say that's where the victim was found shot once in the chest. he was taken to the hospital and died. the person arrested in the crime has not yet been identified. a 40-year-old man was forced to take out cash from an atm by a robber with a gun. this video shows the crime when it happened back on march 18t 18th. it was at a store on the 5600 block of q avenue in east german town pthe suspect approached the victim out on the street and asked to buy drugs. the two then walked to the store. that's when the robbery happened. the suspect got away with $160 in cash. if you recognize the man in the video, you're asked to contact police. philadelphia police are looking for a serial armed

robber whose targeting businesses in chestnut hill and west oaklane. this is surveillance video from two of the three robberies. the robber pulls a knife on an employee at the metro pcs on tuesday but did not get away with any money. the next day, the same suspect held up a different metro pcs store on ogontz avenue and got about $120. he's also accused of trying to rob a gateway cleaners on germantown avenue last saturday. two men were caught shortly after police say they robbed a wilmington salon at gunpoint. once in custody, they were linked to several other robberies. 29-year-old brandon dixon and 26-year-old darrius john were pulled over by police after officials say they took cash from workers and customers at a salon back on march 17th. police then linked the men to seven more robberies in wilmington and middletown. both dixon and johns remain behind bars after not being able to pay bail. you're taking a live look at

today, philadelphia record-breaking tower 500 walnut hit a major construction milestone. to mark the occasion, they held a ceremony and luncheon for guests today. the development will open to residents this summer and has already sold two-thirds of its units including a penthouse that sold for nearly $18 million, which is a new record for the city. alicia vitarelli, i think, put in a bid there. [ laughter ] no, she didn't. a grand-opening and ribbon cutting was held for a new low-cost pet health clinic. the emansa pet health clinic is made possible through a $450,000 grant from petsmart charities. it offers spay and neuter surgeries as well as

a look at the winds right now. 12 miles an hour, philadelphia, as well as wilmington. dover, 13 miles an hour. 9, allentown. the same for the poconos. we don't have those harsh winds like yesterday. but even with a light wind between 5 and 12 miles an hour, it's adding a bit of a chill to the air, even with all of that late march sunshine. it feels like 39, ln. philadelphia, trenton, as well as wilmington. 38 in millville. 40 in wilmington. and mt. pocono at 25 degrees. satellite and radar, we have high pressure in control right now. that high really dominating the mid-atlantic, the deep south, all the way up into new england. you do see the clouds increasing from our south and west across the ohio valley. a little rivet of moisture here. that is the actual warm front that is separating below normal temperatures to well above normal temperatures. so for tonight, it's clear early, and then those clouds continue to march in late tonight. 24 in the suburbs. 32 degrees for center city. and there will be enough cold air in those northwestern

suburbs that there could be a brief rain shower mixed with maybe some freezing rain, especially in the mountainous regions of carbon and monroe county where there is a freezing rain advisory. but for our general viewing area, it is dry. those brief showers are mainly to the north and west. and then that front excels north of new york city in the afternoon. sunshine returns tomorrow afternoon, and with the return of sunshine, breaking out friday afternoon into the early evening hours, those temperatures will bounce back to near normal in the middle 50s. but struggling out of the 30s and 40s in the morning with those clouds being very stubborn. they on saturday, high pressure is to our north. this is going to push a front through the second half of the weekend. but it doesn't for saturday. and that means saturday warm, 18 degrees above average. a lot of the high clouds. if you're thinking of heading to the shore, bring a jacket. only 50s right along the immediate shoreline because of an earl wind.

arrested this morning at ben franklin high school in spring garden. "actio"action news" reporter ven odom is live at septa headquarters. and vernon, what's the latest there? >> reporter: good evening, jim. ten suspects, all teens, all minors, locked up today. an 11th has not been formally charged yet. but police tell me he will be. he's 18 and may be charged as an adult in this case. the transit police chief meanwhile says redeployment of cops is coming and some other major invasions. >> the charges are aggravated assault and robbery, which are felonies. these are serious offenses. >> reporter: in this van, leaving ben franklin high midday, seven of the alleged subway attackers arrested today in last week's mob attacks on other high schoolers in the busy race-vine station in center city. ten suspects are being held at this hour identified in this bystander video as well as septa surveillance system. all but one is under 18. the chief
