good morning. i'm linzie janis. >> and i'm kendis gibson. the hunt for a nightclub killer. shots fired in a packed cincinnati club. authorities say they know of no link to terrorism, but they don't know who fired the shots. breaking overnight, an avalanche roared through a ski resort north of tokyo. it left at least six high school students unconscious. several others are missing. those students were taking part in a mountain climbing exercise when the snow gave way. the state department is condemning the arrest of hundreds of anti-corruption protesters across russia in the country's largest show of defiance since a wave of demonstrations years ago. and the ncaa men's

basketball tournament is down to the final four. on saturday, north carolina will take on oregon. and gonzaga will play south carolina. those are some of our top stories on this monday, mar march 27th. from abc news, this is "world news now." good morning, everyone. we're going to start with the deadly nightclub shooting in cincinnati. there were hundreds of people inside the cameo nightclub when it took place. >> one man was killed and 15 other people were injured when the bullets started flying. the question for police now is, who was responsible. abc's jamie norman is in cincinnati with the details. >> reporter: multiple gunmen still on the loose. >> several people injured. >> reporter: more than a dozen victims recovering from the deadly shooting inside this cincinnati nightclub. police say it started when several men got into an argument. >> and it escalated into shots

being fired. from several individuals. >> reporter: a night out ended in chaos for the hundreds of people inside the club when gunfire rang out around 1:30 a.m. >> people was running, trammelling over us. i scarred my arms and knees up falling on the ground. >> reporter: witnesses reported hearing nearly 20 rounds fired as they ran for their lives. >> we've got cars jumping curbs and people everywhere. >> reporter: one of them died. police were quick to say the shooting was not terror related, but they're looking into how multiple weapons made it past security and into the packed club. >> it is my understanding that they do wand individuals and pat them down. however, what we know at this point, several firearms were able to be brought inside the bar. >> reporter: investigators haven't said how many shooters they're looking for, but they do

believe multiple gunmen are responsible, and they haven't yet made any arrests. >> our thanks to janay. we're going to turn to the other big story we're following, the severe weather threat across the south and into the midwest. >> baseball-sized hail pumpled parts of texas. >> tornados ripped through the southern plains, including this one that touched down south of oklahoma city. >> an ef-2 tornado ripped across kato, arkansas. injuring at least six people. that twister remained on the ground for a terrifying seven minutes. this morning that weather system is pushing east into the ohio and tennessee valleys. >> accuweather's paul williams joins us with the latest. good morning. >> good morning. we're expecting more from this soggy saga of not so great weather. the flow of moisture coming out

it was. >> fox news host janine piro called for a step down. the u.s. backed forces in northern syria have scored a major victory, capturing a key air base. it is located near the islamic state's de facto capitol, the city of raqqah. but some believe an offensive to retake the city in the near future is highly unlikely. it may have to wait until a political agreement is reached between all parties involved in that conflict there. and syria's seat will remain empty as arab leaders hold their annual summit this week in jordan. they'll be asked to endorse the arab peace initiative, which would pave the way for a palestinian state in east jerusalem, the west bank and

gaza. syria's president hasn't been invited to the summit since his country was suspended from the arab league back in 2011 after the uprising that turned into civil war. turning to london and the new details surfacing. the suspect acted alone. four people were killed when he plowed his rented car through pedestrians on westminster bridge before crashing into a fence, jumping out and fatally stabbing a police officer. and yesterday at wimbley stadium, player, staff and fans paid tribute to the victims with a moment of silence ahead of the world cup qualifier. south korean prosecutors want to arrest the former president park geun-hye. her arrest would be the next step before she can be formally charged. she could receive life in prison if convicted. dozens of dogs saved from a

south korean meat market have arrived here in the united states. the underfed animals were taken to emergency shelters in new york, maryland and pennsylvania. the humane society international says the dogs were going to be slaughtered and used as food. activists believe as many as 17,000 farms operate in south korea. the investigation is deepening into what caused the deadly crash of a small plane over alabama. a family of four was killed after witnesses say the cessna 210 was ripped apart in midair. the wings torn off during flight. at the time of the crash, authorities say a band of wind and rain came through the area, but the weather doesn't seem to have been the most likely cause. the debris was scattered over several square miles. witnesses describe a horrifying scene. >> spun around one good time and took a nosedive down. the wing came over us and the wind carried it over into the field. >> it's a mess. i mean, it's just a rubble of

beach in an anticorruption probe. it threatens to bring down their new president. >> at the heart of this investigation, more than2 billion in alleged bribes involving major construction companies and petrobras, this did seem relatively calm. rallies broke out over the country as supporters of president trump clashed with anti-trump protesters. the two sides got into shouting matches and fistfights and police in huntington beach, california say pro-trump marchers were attacked with pepper spray. a scouple suffered minor injuries. and politicians take shots at each other. president trump called out the house freedom caucus and other conservatives for opposing the legislation. they saved obamacare as well as planned parenthood, he claims.

about the search for those responsible for the deadly nightclub shooting. a dispute escalated into a shootout. 15 others were wounded by the gunfire. authorities say there is no link to terrorism, and they are looking into how the firearms made it past security. the skoip cope of the violence t them by surprise. >> i've been a policeman almost 30 years and seen countless shootings, and many of them were multi-victim, but not 16. >> the cluck hb has a history on violence. there were two shootings in 2015. the operator calls it senseless. the club will remain closed until investigators are finished with their work. let's move to las vegas where a cummiouple incidents le chaos. marci gonzalez is in vegas with the details.

>> reporter: the accused gunman police say was behind the tense standoff that shut down part of the las vegas strip is behind bars, charged with murder. he boarded this bus and shot people at random. >> the guy who died, i think his wife, just hysterical. >> reporter: while the others on board escaped, investigators say the suspect described by police as mentally ill barricaded himself on the bus's second floor. all of it happened when the boulevard was packed with tourists. some nervously watching it unfold from their hotel balcony, as the police used an explosion to get access to the bus before he finally surrendered. >> to think something like this could happen any day is unreal.

>> reporter: and a scare for other tourists hours earlier at the bellagio. three suspects wearing animal masks smashed their way into this rolex store, pulling off a high-end heist. and police are still looking for two of those suspects and say these cases are in no way connected. marci gonzalez, abc news, las vegas. turning now to the severe weather moving across the country, across the south and pushing to the east. >> you can see it on the move. tornados ripping through the southern plains over the weekend, inclusion this one that touched down south of oklahoma city. >> in texas, pounding hail, and this almost non-stoplight anything sto -- lightning storm. >> and the threat stretches across eight states from mississippi into indiana, with a few isolated tornados.

so this was the end of what turned out to be a very bad day for an ice fisherman. firefighters rushed to the lake where he fell in through the spring-thawing ice. this cell phone footage captured the dramatic rescue. he was well enough to help himself climb off that stretcher. >> ice fishing. the nationwide search for a tennessee teacher and his student continues. and now there's new information and new video. >> authorities are revealing new e-mails they tried to hide. >> reporter: new images of a missing teen. the family releasing this video where you can hear her voice for the first time as she helps her brother sew. >> she's got a very beautiful voice. >> and you think people will recognize that?

breaking news now from japan where an avalanche has rocked a ski resort north of tokyo. authorities say it left at least six high school students unconscious. several others are missing. the students were at the resort for a mountain climbing exercise. we'll have updates throughout the morning. tens of thousands of anticorruption protesters flooded streets and hundreds were arrested in moscow. the u.s. state department is condemning all of the arrests, calling the potential protesters and journalists an affront to democratic values. the military is investigating a u.s. airstrike in the iraqi city of mosul, blamed for killing at least 100 people, many of them civilians. the airstrike on march 17th was aimed at isis fighters and launched at the request of iraqi security forces. u.s. officials have not confirmed the reports of

civilian casualties. and the pentagon has confirmed that another u.s. airstrike was behind the death of a senior al qaeda leader. they say he was killed in eastern afghanistan last week and accused of several high-profile attacks, including the 2008 marriott hotel bombing that killed dozens in islamabad. two american service members were among the victims. a nightclub in cincinnati will remain closed until investigators are finished looking into a deadly shooting incident. one man was killed early sunday at the cameo club when a dispute escalated into gunfire. 15 others were injured. authorities say there is no link to terrorism and they are looking into how the firearms made it past security at that club. there were hundreds of people at the club when the shooting started. >> people was running, trampling, i scabbed my knees and arms falling on the ground. >> police have made no arrests

so far. they are checking security cameras inside and outside of the club. there were two other gun-related incidents at that club, both of them in 2015. there's word two contractors are under arrest after a frightening incident involving an escalator in hong kong. all of a sudden, the up-mall escalator starts moving in reverse, and it's going at double its normal speed. reports out of china say at least 18 people were hurt. the contractors are reportedly accused of tampering with some of the escalator's parts. how can that happen? >> that is insane, and you know hong kong well. it's known for some of the longest escalators in the world. >> they have fabulous outdoor escalators. >> a system they know very well there. that is something definitely their engineers will be looking into. let's lighten things up a little bit with a reminder that it will be a couple more months before this year's running of the bulls in spain. we have it down in our calendar. for now, we'll have to make do with the annual running of the brides.
