people killed when three rivers overflow in the nation's columbia. but the big story on action news is a home collapse in southwest philadelphia with a man inside. neighbors say they could hear his cries for help from beneath the rubble. bob brooks is live at the scene with the the full story. bob? >> walter, it is a miracle that this man is still alive. i'm going to step out of the way and show everybody. that is debris from the entire house that came down and somehow this man survived. >> i heard it. i laying on the sofa. watching tv when i heard it. it's scared heck out of me. >> reporter: what she heard was this house crashing down in southwest philadelphia. it happened just around 2:30 a.m. overnight t it wasn't just anne that heard it. everyone did. >> i heard boom. >> reporter: there was man inside. he was being crushed by the rubble the home collapsed on him.

fire officials say when crews got here, the house was flattened. at any began their initial assessment and that's when they heard the man and started the rescue >> you could hear him hollering. >> reporter: for help? >> yes. >> reporter: from video captured by our crew overnight, we see the man pulled out and rushed to the hospital. no word yet on his condition. kathy sanders lives next door to the home that fell, she says the victim is a homeless man. >> he's a squatter. he went in there, they usually come in like sometimes 1:00 at night and he was sleeping in there. >> we're told this section of row homes were in the process of demolition. >> they were tearing them down. >> reporter: many say they're not surprised it's happened and that it's a miracle this man inside wasn't killed. they had these houses were unsafe. >> home was always a mess >> they should have been torn down a long time ago. >> reporter: whether or not this man was squatting or not.

no one deserves to have to go through that again. this is the scene and the thousands that chris may crumbling down. no official cause for why this house collapsed. details we're working to get. reporting in southwest philadelphia bob brooks channel 6 action news. officials in delaware county are investigating the death of a man inside his home in chester. he was severely overweight and may have been a hoarder and they led to issues removing the body, dan cuellar is live at the scene with details. >> reporter: officials say he was an hoarder and it took them an hour to get the 500 pound man out of the house because there was so much stuff. the scene in the 200 block of west 22'nd, police were called to the home of a man identified by neighbors as 63-year-old jim scanly. neighbors report they have not seen or heard from him in day >> i've been calling him and his phone was turned off >> how long >> about a week.

i knew that something was the matter with him. >> reporter: this afternoon police broke the door open and found scanly dead in an upstairs bedroom. officials say there was so much stuff in the house, it took them over an hour to clear a pathway to retract him in from the building. he struggledith obesity and diabetes many mic fam too here. so keeping in touch with them i know is -- it was a little bit of a toll, a little taxing >> that was my best friend and i'm going to miss him a lot. we used to sit outside, he used to make me laugh every day. >> reporter: now, the medical examiner has not determined the cause of death or how long scan link had been dead. at last word, officials were trying to reach relatives who live in the york pennsylvania area. live in chester, dan cuellar channel 6 action news. a 14-year-old was killed and

two people were injured during an atv crash this none burlington county. it happened about 3:00 p.m. off new road and patty bitter colder road in tabernacle. they were riding the atv off road when it overturned no word on the extent of the injuries. two people injured when car lost control and slammed into a building on broad street today in north philadelphia. it happened at about 1:00 p.m. both the driver and the passenger were injured and are now being treated for nonlife-threatening injuries. investigators are still trying to figure out why the driver lost control of in this case a wild scene outside of a bar in north philadelphia. early this morning, when a shoot-out ended with one person killed and another injured. started about 2:00 this morning, when a fight broke out at a night club in the 3,000 block of north 22 street. two men opened fire and then to a two security guards from the club opened fire. when it was over, a 22-year-old man was shot once in the head and died. a 23-year-old man was shot once in the leg. still not clear who shot whom so

far no arrests. the temple university football team and philadelphia firefighters went door to door in north philadelphia installing smoke alarms and homes, players and firefighters worked in the area around 16th and tioga in addition to providing valuable resource they had a chance to spend time with young centers. the nfl draft right here in philadelphia, but crews started getting ready to welcome the tens of thousands expected to show up. they began installing giant banners near city hall and dilworth, it's just the first of many changes you can expect to see around town over the coming weeks. is city estimates the draft will draw 200 sports fans. moving on to the accu weather forecast. it was great but a local lot better than yesterday. second half promises to be better. melissa magee is here with the first check of the accu weather

returning as we get into sunday. here's storm tracker 6 live radar, you can see without tracking precipitation, we'll show you the picture outside. the action cam was outside earlier on north broad looking at center city to see the gray sky overhead and bundled up in the appropriate gear. temperatures were slightly cooler than average but all in all, a nice recovery from what we had across the region yesterday. the high in philadelphia, six degrees shy of normal. we came in at 53. average for us this time of year 59. 81 sent back in 1978. believe it or not february the month of february was actually warmer than the month of march with march monthly temperature coming in at 42.1. this is a rarity for philadelphia and this is the first below average temperature since last may. we're going backwards as far as the month is concerned. we'll have to wait and see what the month of april has in store. right now it's 52 in

philadelphia. 36 in the poconos, 50 in lancaster 49 in reading, 48 in allentown, the coast in cape may 50, 50 in trenton. satellite 6 along with action radar, we got a fair amount of cloud cover. that was the storm that did trigger all of that rain across the region yesterday and some very late season snow. high across interior portions of new england. we got a mostly cloudy sky but with a northwest wind and that down east of the ap play shuns, things will start to clear out in the next 12 hours mostly cloudy early then will clear later this evening, drop down 35. and the suburbs and 40 in philadelphia for the overnight low. the setup for the second half of our weekend on sunday we've got the area of low pressure well off to the north and east, high pressure over the ohio valley works its way into midatlantic. bright and beautiful. mild by the afternoon. high temperature coming in at 61 degrees with lows of sunshine to

enjoy. changes are coming as we get to early next week. future tracker 6 showing monday night we're dry, but as we get to late monday into tuesday, we're tracking more precipitation as a parade of storms moves in for the first week of april. you can see by tuesday morning, 6:00, we do have rain that will be in and out of and this is just the first in a series of storms that will set up as we get into next week. here's the exclusive seven-day forecast. tomorrow, plenty of sunshine by the afternoon, breezy and milder. high temperature up to 61. average for this time of year is 59. tomorrow will be a nice looking day. on monday, start increasing clouds with a high temperature of 63. then tracking the rain that's closer to the midnight hour monday and continues on and off on tuesday. otherwise tuesday's high coming in at 69. we're going to break on wednesday with high pressure in control with sunshine and clouds, high temperature coming in at 66.
