assaulted a 13-year-old girl. >> my daughter actually called me last night and told me, yeah. >> reporter: word spread fast through this neighborhood. >> that's terrible. >> i only have one word. it's terrible. it's a lack of involvement i guess with parents and other ones. >> reporter: it happened around 5 o'clock yesterday evening on the 1300 block of west butler. police say a 13-year-old girl was walking down the street when three boys approached her. they grabbed her and took her into an abandoned property where she was sexually assaulted. >> she's 13. she don't really know much. now she's exposed to something. she probably didn't know about. >> reporter: neighbors complain that the vacant home and others in this area are hot spots for crime. they should be boarded up more securely. but they add, there's no excuse for the young suspects' behavior. >> i don't know what to say about kids these days. >> reporter: some wondered if at that hour someone might

have witnessed the abduction but did not call police. >> i can't help but wonder who was around and why they would allow it to happen because i personally think that there's always someone around that sees it and decides to turn the other cheek. >> reporter: and philadelphia police would like to hear from any witnesses. if you have any information, contact the special victims unit. live in hunting park, i'm sarah bloomquist, channel6 "action news." >> sarah thank you. investigators believe they arrested the two people responsible for a deadly shooting that killed a 13-year-old in tying nicetown. detectives say 19-year-old tymear johnson pulled the trigger killing khisser davis-papther. 18-year-old christopher sutherland is is also charged with murder and other offenses. the boy was shot inside a

takeout restaurant. surveillance video let them to johnson and sutherland. >> three teenagers on trial for their roles in a fight that led to a classmate's death at howard high school of technology in wilmington. 16-year-old amy joyner francis died after that incident that unfolded in a school bathroom last april. "action news" reporter bob brooks live this afternoon. he's been in court all day. he's in wilmington with what unfolded inside that courtroom today. bob. >> reporter: well, brian a very emotional day in court. so many lives, so many families, so many young lives impacted by everything that has happened. now, just a little while ago we heard from a witness who saw the actual fight. and she says that the victim joyner francis wanted absolutely no part of it. it's a tragic situation all the way around a 16-year-old girl dead, three more young girls are now facing serious charges. almost a year has passed but now the three teenaged girls

facing charges for the death of 16-year-old amy joyner francis are standing trial. prosecutors say joyner francis was attacked and killed at hands of her three classmates in a bang room at the howard high school of technology in wilmington. it's a nonjury trial taking place in family court. the girls are being tried as juveniles. a variety of witnesses were called to the stand mostly detailing the events that led up to the fight that includes a meeting documented on social media between the girls the day before the brought another witness of the actual fight says it started out as talking then an argument then she stated joyner francis was attacked without warning and that she never wanted to fight. just one of the three students is accused of physically fighting joyner francis. she faces the most serious charge of criminally negligent homicide. the other two face conspiracy helping to set the fight up. at the center of the evidence is a 30 cell phone video. the it shows one of the defendants dragging joyner francis by the fire in a stall.

today the defense argued their client didn't cause joyner francis' death but points the blame on the results of the medical examiner's office. it's determined joyner francis died from a preexisting heart condition triggered by the attack. the defense argues there's no way the girls could have known o about that or that this would result in joyner francis' death. right now court is still going on. later this evening we're expecting a statement from a family representative of amy joyner francis so be sure to look for that t reporting live in wilmington, bob brooks, channel6 "action news". >> okay, bob, thank you. we've got some breaking news now. we're being told a very active scene unfolding in north philadelphia. this is where police are investigating reports of multiple people shot. you see the large police presence there as they try to sort this out. the call came in just about a half hour ago. this is the 1100 block of west styles street in north philadelphia. still no confirmation on how many people have been shot or what led up to this shooting.

that is what philadelphia police are trying to sort out but again, the report is multiple people shot in north philadelphia on the 1100 block of west styles street. chopper6 giving us the view of this active scene. as we get more information about this as it unfolds we'll pass it along in this newscast. >> a judge has just delayed a ruling on some key questions concerning bill cosby's upcoming sexual assault trial. judge steven o'neill is weighing whether the jury can hear decades old testimony in which cosby admitted to giving a powerful sedative to women before sex. the defense argues that testimony is irrelevant because the drug he was talking about was banned years before the alleged assault at the center of this case. now, the judge is also deciding whether cosby's previous payments to other accusers are admissible. the trial is expected to start june 5th and should last about two weeks. >> in russia today at least 10 people are dead and 40 injured after a deadly bomb went off on a subway train. that blast tore through a train that was traveling

between two stations in saint petersburg. the impact of the bomb ripped the doors off the train car and filled it with thick smoke leaving much injury and death in its path. there's still no word whether this was a terror attack and so far no one has claimed responsibility. russian president vladimir putin who was in saint petersburg when the explosion went off offered his condolences to the families of those killed. he said investigators are actively looking into whether the attack is terror related. now within two hours of that blast, authorities found and safely deactivated another bomb at a separate busy saint petersburg subway station. all subways in saint petersburg have been shut down and security measures have been tightened in response to the explosion. president donald trump calling the deadly bomb blast a terrible thick. he spoke to today before a lunging work with egypt's president and says it's happening all over the world. this afternoon russian officials say as their

>> speaking of getting off on the right foot we hope you're doing that on the roads. a first check of the "action news" traffic report. >> let's go live to matt pelman in the "action news" traffic center. hi, matt. >> hi, guys. we hope everyone is cooperating. seems a few people may not have been earlier this afternoon along the blue route 476. this is the northbound side approaching route this evening the broomall upper darby interchange where there was a crash awhile ago now but it's still out here on the shoulder attracting a little bit of attention as you head northbound away from lima springfield up through broomall. the slower speeds that's usually the case on the southbound side speeds like just 18 miles per hour as you travel south on the blue route through delaware county. we also have a crash earlier this afternoon on the schuylkill expressway. it was westbound right around the vine. that has cleared out completely but still just 10 miles per hour there as you travel westbound by south street and eastbound also had an issue. it was a broken down truck by girard. that's cleared but same situation still slow on the eastbound side as you head towards the vine street expressway. broken down truck as well on

>> ♪ >> senate democrats secured enough votes to block supreme court nominee neil gorsuch at least for the moment. the dems pulled off a filibuster today setting up a showdown with republicans who plan to confirm gorsuch anyway. the vote cast by delaware senator chris coons was the crucial vote that prevented the gop from reaching the needed 60 votes today. coons explained his opposition to gorsuch. >> after reviewing judge gorsuch's record after meeting with him twice, after participating in four days of very well run senate judiciary committee confirmation hearing submitting written questions and getting feedback from literally thousands of delawareans, i have decided that i will not support judge gorsuch's nomination in the judiciary committee today. >> republicans on the senate judiciary committee are vowing to invoke the nuclear option

64 in millville. with the wind out of the southeast a bit cooler at our shore communities they're only in the lower 50's. many of us over that 60-degree threshold. tomorrow will be the first day that philadelphia's normal high finally hits that 60 degrees so signs of spring are moving back in. a month from now our normal high jumped up do 70. two months from now 80 and three months in the middle of the summer our normal high is 87 degrees. we'll be sweating soon enough, so take these really beautiful days when your highs are in the 60's and 70's. as we look at satellite and radar, there's that morning sun, now the clouds are coming in and you can see the rain not too far to the south and west of washington as well as richmond its racing in from the south and west. in fact, it will be here by 11 o'clock tonight, turning heavy in delaware, just some light showers at that point philadelphia up through the lehigh valley but you can see how everything brightens up here around 2 o'clock in the morning. there could even be a rumble of thunder or two, so this may

be one of those nights that the dogs come running in the bed as well as the kids in the wee hours of the morning with that heavy rain and some thunderstorms but that lifts off to the north so by 7 o'clock in the morning, as we heighten that rush hour, the heavy rain is gone, just some damp roadways, a few lingering showers, some breaks of sun tomorrow afternoon develop. it's warm and it could ignite a second round of some downpours and thunderstorms during the afternoon tomorrow. and as we take a look at the rainfall totals between about a half inch to an inch of rain. most of this falling during the overnight hours tonight. there could be flooding especially near mercer county off to the north in the poconos but mainly up towards new york state that's where they'll get the heaviest rain over the next 24 hours but the majority of our viewing area not within a flood watch overnight tonight. as we look at that four day at 4:00 forecast here showers to sun tomorrow and there could be again a scattered downpour or thunderstorm in the afternoon but we jump to 75 degrees with those breaks of sun. wednesday is breathtaking.

crash. she is now at the school all three boys attended plus more about the young man who died in this horrible accident. nora. >> reporter: brian, one of the survivors is still in the hospital, another has been released and there is terrible grief here today at southampton middle school. now, the would. who discovered the boys says the kids didn't appear to be hot-dogging or taking chances. she says the survivors told her their friend hit a patch of water and that caused the fatal accident. >> we waved and they weren't racing, they were just driving by. >> reporter: gail corey was dropping off her grandchild on west patti broker road saturday afternoon. not five minutes later when she looked down the road as she was leaving she could see one of two all terrain vehicles overturned and three boys on the ground. she quickly called 911. the crash killed 14-year-old nikolay cunningham of southampton and injured two of his friends. today a small memorial marks the accident site. >> one of the young men told

me was that the young driver that was killed hydroplaned and when you hydroplaned he lost control and turned. >> reporter: corey says the two survivors were wearing helmets, cunningham was not. the eighth grader's death has sent shock waves through southampton middle school where today classmates decorated nick's locker with heart felt messages and in memory of their friend many wore red today, his favorite color. >> nick was a spirited energetic student, very -- always had a smile on his face, very -- very pop remarks well liked by his peers. >> reporter: school superintendent michael harris says the burlington county crisis response team was activated bringing 10 counselors to work with the three counselors already there. many of the classmates are taking advantage of the counselors. >> very sad day for the entire community. our staff is feeling the pain, our students are feeling the

pain. >> reporter: the cunningham family declined to comment today. funeral arrangements have not been announced. in southampton, i'm nora muchanic channel6 "action news." >> okay, nora, thank you. a worker was seriously hurt when a stack of steel beams fell on him in wilmington this morning. this happened at a job site on the 500 block of east broad just after 8:30. now, officials say workers were moving the beams when the stack shifted and one toppled on top of him. he was taken to christiana hospital with a number of lower body injuries. the accident is still under investigation. well, philadelphia police are looking for the gunman who robbed a juniata park sandwich shop one week ago. detectives released this surveillance video showing the robber running into the sandwich shop on whitaker avenue last monday night. the gunman immediately rushed behind the counter forcing a 21-year-old worker to give him cash. well, she emptied out the register doesn't the robber took off running. if you have any information on

this holdup, give philadelphia police a call. >> six months after it rolled out body cameras for its officers, septa police say they are a success. septa released an audit of the program today which it says has led to a significant improvement in police interactions with the public. from the data so far septa's police chief says the cameras have helped to improve officer behavior and to discourage people from making false complaints about officer misconduct. >> reduction in response to resistance, reduction in offender injuries and officer injuries. and a reduction in complaints. >> now, chief nestel says the audit revealed there is needed improvement in particular officers forgetting to turn the cameras on or to warn people that they are being recorded. >> all right, turning back to our forecast, hey, we're in the high mid 60's right now. >> not bad. >> very nice for a monday. >> two days in a row pretty nice. but changes move in tonight. as we take a look right now, you can see those changes in the form of clouds that have pushed in here this afternoon.

well, students in west chester got a firsthand look at the dangers of drunk driving this morning. reston high school staged a safe deadly car accident in the school parking lot. the teenagers had to catch their classmates pretend to be seriously injured or killed in collision. the mock crash was staged with help from the westtown east goshen police department. the school does this every year before prom season to warn of the potential tragedy that can result from drinking and driving. >> philadelphia police are investigating what they call a horrible case of abuse and neglect that's left a paraplegic man fighting for his life. didn't make it easy for him. surveillance video shows a man identified as william tige getting into the woman's suv as she was pumping gas. but the victim wasn't having it. she tried to stop the carjacking by spraying him with gas. she was dragged a few feet while trying to hold i don't and to her car but she was not hurt. the woman's mazda was found abandoned nearby. tighe is still on the loose. >> an eagle eyed television viewer cost a profession in ally golfer a big title this weekend. it was something to watch. lexi thompson had a two stroke lead entering the final round of the lg pga's first major yesterday that is until a viewer notified officials that thompson had moved her ball an inch too far on the 17th hole the day before. now after reviewing the play, she wound up getting a four stroke penalty two for that bad ball drop and two for signing an incorrect score card. that cost her the win. the ruling did not sit well with other golfers including

update for us. >> thankfully guys spirits are not being crushed this evening we're feeling pretty good about the traffic situation in fort washington montgomery county. drone6 looking a the -- at route 309 approaching second hasn't road the temple university campus. i 82 you had to take some classes there more than a couple years ago but if you have to do the same this evening heading northbound on 309 toward ambler toward montgomeryville a nice ride coming southbound towards the pennsylvania turnpike and flourtown also in the clear. let's check if the schuylkill expressway is also clear. no, no the quite as much -- not quite as much. eastbound slowing around the conshohocken curve. 26 incidents either direction right now. that's about a 12 minute delay either way with just some afternoon volume. no extra accidents or anything like that at this point on the schuylkill. on the blue route northbound near broomall still have that crash on the shoulder attracting some attention but the slower speeds remain on the southbound side. and there's a crash to watch out for in the mayfair section of the city at bustleton and robbins by bamboo restaurant and nightclub. police activity as well in

northbound along styles near 11th much avoid that information if you can. worcester township a crash to avoid along 73 skippack pike at wentz church road. we lost our accident in the lehigh valley. cleared out along 22 eastbound. 295 here in bellmawr camden county there's a crash southbound side near the black horse pike. it's right there on the shoulder but you are definitely getting some slowing almost a 10 minute delay as you come southbound from route 70 down to route 42. and in pike creek delaware, had a crash down here by the montessori school on stony batter road at middleton drive. that cleared out. normal volume along 95 and 202 the concorde pike. overall not bad in the first state this afternoon. we'll check it again though brian and sharrie, coming up in the 5 o'clock hour. >> sounds good my friend much thank you. meteorologist adam joseph standing by with that exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast coming up next. >> ♪

[laughter] >> it's like april 3rd, right. >> but a couple tricks up its sleeve in the first week here. we have to talk about wet weather moving in as we take a look at storm tracker6 live double scan. the clouds are here but the radar not much going on at the present time. we're going to get through the evening rush okay. we'll get through the early to latter part of the evening okay its later tonight when the heavy rain will be coming in from the south to the northwest and again you can even hear a rumble of thunder overnight as well. but it's pretty warm. 65 philadelphia, trenton 66 in the lehigh valley, some of the warmer numbers to our north and west and that's because the wind right now is out of the southeast so as you can see right along the shore it is only around 50 degrees or a couple of degrees above that. that wind coming in off the ocean of 48 so as you're removed away from the shore

line those temperatures do go up. satellite and radar we have large low pressure. you can see it's spinning here near saint louis. we have a pipeline of moisture coming out ahead of that primary, the main low coming in from the atlanta near jacksonville as well as south and north carolina severe weather with tornado watches down to the south. we're not going to see severe weather but again you could hear a thunderstorm roll through overnight with that heavy rain and there's the leading edge of the steady rainfall still south and west of washington as well as baltimore. so, as we look at some snaps here on future tracker, there you can see this shot here showing some light showers coming in north of philadelphia, lehigh valley, trenton at 11 o'clock tonight, a little band of some steadier rain in the state of delaware. everything kind of phils in here after the midnight hour. this is when the heaviest rain pulls through also again that rumble of thunder with about a half an inch to an inch of rain expected between about midnight tonight and 6 o'clock or so tomorrow morning. at 8 o'clock in the morning, some lingering showers still around philadelphia allentown

to trenton. but the heaviest rain will be out in time for that morning rush. and that then tomorrow afternoon we'll see some sun developing at times and that will also destabilize the atmosphere so any sun we see could cook up an additional downpour or thunderstorm. this is 4 o'clock. not everyone seeing them but the best concentration in the afternoon will be north and east of philadelphia closer to trenton, the poconos and the lehigh valley. but that temperature profile is going to skyrocket here tomorrow afternoon as some of that sun does return going into the middle 70's tomorrow afternoon and again, the steadiest rain is over by the time most of us get up and then some scattered stuff with those pops of sun in the afternoon. then wednesday is the day to get outdoors if you can. it is going to be a beautiful day. 70 for a high with high pressure in control and then another storm winding up down to the south and this one will be stronger than the one tonight and tomorrow with some heavy rain and even some strong to severe thunderstorms

departments including temple university and housing police are on the scene at this hour following this very deadly exchange of gunfire. the nature of which could possiblely drug related. what we know is that four people were shot. three of them are now dead. another clinging to life at hahnemann university hospital. police responded to reports of shots fired here sometime after 3:30 this afternoon. twenty-second district officers arrived a short time later to find that the four people had been shot. two later died at hahnemann. another died at temple university hospital. this according to police. and again, a fourth person, a 26-year-old, is alive and being treated at hahnemann. what precipitated this violence we still don't know but police are telling us one of the victims was shot multiple times including twice in the head. no weapons have been recovered and no arrests have been made but again, four people shot, three of them are now dead. one clinging to life following a very deadly exchange of
