make a new tradition for atlantic city and the people that come here. >> atlantic city is getting a major makeover and expected to give the cash strapped town a much needed financial boost. wednesday night and the big story the unveiling of the brand new hard rock hotel and casino. the national franchise is taking over what used to be the trump taj mahal. one of the casinos to close its doors in the last few years in a.c. gray hall is here with more on what it means for the town and its economy. >> reporter: well rick and monica, this is really good news, not only exciting for the city and state leaders and people looking for work. because this means jobs. the skyline in atlantic city is about to change. the taj mahal sign will come down and the building will undergo a major face list and in its place they will welcome the hard rock hotel and casino in

the area for 20 years. >> we are committed to do one thing and one thing only. do it right. if we can't do it right we are not going to do it. wednesday morning the announcement was official. hard rock will renovate the property and give the local economy a shot in the arm. 1,000 construction jobs and 3 thousand permanent jobs are expected and hard rock already hired 23 employees. many are excited about the project. >> it's the world, getting revived. we are getting a second chance at what everybody said would be a failure. and getting a second chance. thank god. >> hard rock purchased the hard rock in march from billionaire carl icahn. he closed the casino after a devastating strike by workers and the new owners and state leaders are looking toward the

skyline and today was picture perfect. a nice spring day and sunshine and a change will arrive early tomorrow morning. so get the umbrellas ready. cecily tynan has the deal tails at the big board. >> reporter: today is the calm before the storm. double scan live radar showing a powerful storm and the serp of it is moving into the midwest an head of it we have a significant outbreak of severe weather including a half dozen tornadoes and parts of georgia and south carolina this batch will be missing us and what the low pressure will do is move towards buffalo and we have a triple point low that develops over virginia and that brings us the heavy weather through the day tomorrow. >> so it's kind of a one-two punch, the first punch the potential for flooding. and thursday into friday afternoon for the potential for widespread 1 to 2 inches of rain. the water levels are already high and the grown is saturated from the past two rain storms

convection of severe weather across the deep south and midwest. what the low pressure will do is form another low to the south and that brings us some heavy rain and some potentially strong to severe thunderstorms kind of two areas of that during the day tomorrow. so tonight the clouds continue to thicken. rain should be holding off until after midnight and overnight lows dropping down into the 40s. and future tracker the latest showing a round of pretty heave thunderstorms before the sunrises at 5:00 in the morning and a good line of gusty thunderstorms rolling through and the morning commute, it will be wet and generally scattered light showers and the system reloads as we head into the afternoon. future tracker showing 2:00 in the afternoon the threat of severe weather moving in from the west with gusty thunderstorms could spin up an isolated tornado and into the evening commute. it all winds down some left over

reported stabbing it happened in the area of 15th and 2nd avenue. at least one person suffered injuries in a serious crash involving several cars and a dart bus this afternoon. this was the scene at delaware avenue and dupont street. the driver lost control and slammed into three other cars and at least one of those people had to be cut out of their car. the area is now closed as the investigation continues. an accident on the roosevelt boulevard led to massive backups in philadelphia's hunting park section this morning. chopper 6 hd was over the scene near fox street and the crash happened at 9:30 this morning, and not sure how many cars were involved but one flipped on to its roof. one of our region's most

heavy downpours and flooding and heavy winds. looking at stormtracker 6 live double scan. again today was incredible out there a lot of fine and temperatures well above normal with highs in the 60s to near 70 degrees, but just after midnight that is when we expect the first rain drops to fall. inland locations we are flirting near 70 in philadelphia, shy of that for reading and allentown. 66 in trenton and you have all the warm air rising in new england, replace that air in the atmosphere and rushes in from the ocean and temperatures in the upper 40s to 50s right now along the immediate jersey shore. satellite 6 along with action radar the high clouds pushing in from the south and west and lost that brilliant sunshine we had most of the day. and the storms down to the south most of this will fall apart and work off the carolina and virginia coast and not affect us. the weather coming in from the midwest for us.

the tennessee and ohio valley the boxes pop up tornado watches and thunderstorm watch boxes from cincinnati to nashville and all of this comes in in the wee hours of the morning and this lights up before the morning rush hour at 5:00 a.m. you could get jolted out of bed with a thunderstorm or heavy downpour passing through early in the morning and during the rush hour it's wet in spots but we won't see the heaviest of the rain in the rush hour and the first round lift as way and we catch a break with showers and then everything refires here late morning into the afternoon at 2:00. you see the hit or miss downpours and thunderstorms that will mean business that means we could see severe weather, that lifts to the north in the evening rush hour. and could be sunny breaks and a scattered left over downpour or thunderstorm late in the day. overhaul when you add everything up 1 to 2 inches of rain area wide and a flood watch in effect with an isolated 3 inches or
