the reason he was taken to the hospital. >> and the house chair has stepped aside from the investigation into the russian meddling in the election. and sky 6 hd looking live at a dreary scene. the the center city skyline, it's hard to see because of the heavy rain moving through and accuweather is tracking the potential for damaging winds. lets get the latest from david murphy. >> on the big board. stormtracker 6 live double scan over the last couple of hours we are in a lull and we saw showers and hard hitting thunderstorms. that that they are producing strong wind gusts. there is strong activity connected with these and they are producing heavy rain and. this is pushing past the media. the seat of delaware county and heavy cells extending through

jenkin tonight and downingtown and westchester and the movement is from the south to the north. the one thing helping us is that these heavy cells move quickly 40 to 45 miles per hour. when they get on top of you they don't last all that long and when they pull away it allows the roadways to recover a bit. if we go out wider to the north allentown, quakertown and green lane on the northern edge of montgomery county and doylestown you are getting heavier cells and there is that line to the north. no thunderstorm warnings with this yet and no flood warnings yet either. we are looking at ponding and puddling and the more we see the better chance of creeks and streams rising. i'll point out that down by baltimore and washington, there is add isal clusters of thunderstorms building and more farther south of dover, we are not out of the woods yet but in

charges that he stole more than a half million dollars from the catholic church. it was meant for a home for retired priests but prosecutors say it was pocketed by monsignor william dumbro instead. >> sara this man is facing serious charges. prosecutors say he pocketed over a half million dollars spending much of it on gambling among many other things and could face decaded behind bars. >> he needs to be prosecuted and locked up to the fullest. and news of a philadelphia monsignor accused of pocketing a half million dollars was met with less surprise and more disappoint with the people we talked to. >> i'm not surprised we are all human, but he took vows he should honor. >> we have people in higher

positions and they rip off people and rip off money and they should all be prosecuted. >> i am used to hearing stories of corruption thee days. >> on wednesday he was charged with four counts of wire fraud and diverting hundreds of thousands of dollars into a personal bank account of the last 10 years. it was suppose to go to a house for retired priests. >> and position or not -- >> the 77-year-old is said to use the money to attend philly pops concerts and use the money to go to the casinos in chester and the bank eventually took notice and contacted the archdiocese and they alerted the feds. he could face up to 80 years behind bars. >> what is extreme. >> his attorney says that his

client will plead guilty and expected to enter a guilty plea and takes full responsibilities for his actions and could face up to 80 years behind bars. channel 6 "action news." >> all right thank you. the trial of accused cop killer, eric frein, is delayed because the defendant was taken to the hospital. frein's parents were told he fell while he was brushing his teeth and hit his head. the trial is expected to resume at 1:30 this afternoon. frein is accuses of an ambush style shooting and the attack killed corporal byron dickson. now to developing news out of washington. senate democrats have blocked president trump's nominee to the supreme court. but republicans promise that neil gorsuch will be confirmed. here is the latest on the senate

david is here now doing some final tweaks on this. >> a lot of this breaking in the last 10 or 15 minutes. let show you stormtracker 6 live double scan unfortunately we are looking tight on the map there. i can fix that for you are two seconds, a lot of rain coming in across the region and as we start out. you have a lot of that out to the west of philadelphia. i want to go ahead and take you into the two dim eningal view. a warning declared south and west of dover. this guy right here, you see possible hail developing right along the delaware-maryland border highlighted in purple and this storm is moving to the north. lets go ahead and track it for you. we are looking at a 12:51 arrival in vandyke, delaware, right up to the northwest of smyrna and south of middleton. and it will take a half hour for the storm to move this length and there you see that movement. it may be popping a little bit over toward smyrna and perhaps

in the next probably 25 minutes, the way things look actually. i believe it takes a half hour to make it the length of that red arrow, we are looking at that one charging north. and a big cluster of thunderstorms moving north of baltimore and this may push north of lancaster county and perhaps try to pinwheel into the edge of chester county. in addition to that. we have a lot of heavy rain pushing north of the region, philadelphia is beginning to dry out and all of this is producing ponding and puddling on the roadways and spinning off to the north and the wide view is what i'll leave you with and the strong thunderstorm down to the south, lets get you outside and we are looking at cloudy and damp conditions and the action cam is out earlier in center city. and it looks like we'll be fairly gray and damp and some of us will be seeing some of that heavy rain and thunderstorm activity. i want to go into the

thunderstorm warning up until 1:00 the storm i showed you and it looked like a chance of pushing up to smyrna. and dover could get involved and middletown perhaps on the cusp of it. and we'll see whether that storm can cross the delaware bay and into salem and cumberland counties. and within the last 15 minutes or so, the national weather service extended to the northern and western suburbs. pottstown reading and kutztown and perhaps areas east of pottstown. and as we go down to the south, you see west bradford and east nottingham involved here in chester county and then over into elkton, maryland and havre de grace to get the brunt of the flooding there. what is happening in this area is flooded roads for the most part. 47 degrees and cool and winds from the northeast at 15 miles per hour.

we are look agent temperatures staying cool today. look how the warm air is trying to push up from the south and has not made it to here and there looks like a chance to get up to 60 to 64 degrees for a high today. the seven day from accuweather, 64 degrees and heavy rain at times especially in the western suburbs, there is still an outside chance of a severe storm mainly suppressed south of the seasonal and delaware. on the bubble for that and if you hear thunder do take cover. tomorrow it's all over and the worst of this rain today it starts to die down at 4:00, 5:00. tomorrow we open up the phillies with gray skies and a high of 51 and a spotty shower but they will play baseball. 50s on saturday under partly sunny skies and mostry sunny on sunday in the 60s. and the severe thunderstorm from now until 1:00 rumbling up through delaware in smyrna and dover. and flooding issues on roadways
