the man they think is responsible for a hit-and-run that injured two people. >> and the u.s. secretary of state discusses the syrian missile strike with foreign ministers. the big story on "action news" is neil gorsuch taking the oath as the newest supreme court. gorsuch took the oath in the past half-hour ending a contentious nomination process. >> reporter: judge neil gorsuch the 113 person to be sworn into the highest court in the country. it marks the first major win for the president trump administration with congress. >> the most important thing that a president of the united states does is appoint people to the united states supreme court and i got it done in the first 100 days, that's even nice. >> reporter: but another political first, confirming a supreme court nominee with the

simple majority vote, 54 yeas to 45nays. >> i believe it will make this body a partisan place. >> reporter: it's taken a year to get to today. the long road to the supreme court justice was paved with partisan politics. last year, republicans refused to pick judge merrick garland. democrats argued that his record was too conservative and moved to filibuster his nomination. the supreme court returns to the previous balance, four conservatives and four liberals and justice kennedy as the swing vote. there are cases coming up, including housing discrimination, church and sex discrimination and same sex

person who shot two men in philadelphia's strawberry mansion section. a 27-year-old an 47-year-old were wounded around 9:30 p.m. the 47-year-old man is in congratulate condition. the other man's injuries are not as serious. police don't know the motive. a second week of testimony began today in the trial of accused pennsylvania cop killer eric frein who is on trial for the 2014 ambush shooting that killed brian dixon and wounded alex douglass. state police troopers told the

jurors they found a sniper manual and hundreds of rounds of ammunition during the investigation in his bedroom. testimony is resuming in the trial of three teenager girls charged in the school bathroom fight that led to the death of a 16-year-old wilmington girl. toarnlings are -- attorneys are presenting evidence in the death of amy joyner frances died of a heart condition aggravated by the physical and emotional stress from the fight. all three girls are being tried as juveniles. >> residents of sweden overred a -- observed a minute of silence for the four people killed by the terrorist in

stockholm. swedish police arrested a 39-year-old man from uzbekistan who was the driver of the stolen beer truck. egypt is burying the dead following two church bombings over the weekend. 45 people died when suicide attackers targeted coptic churches. it led the president to declare a state of emergency. he fears islamic state militants battling syrian force in the sinai for years are shifting their focus to egypt coptic minority. pope francis will visit egypt later this month. republican governor robert bentley is accused of using state law enforcement to intimidate staffers to hide his affair. there's probable cause that he

supreme court is sworn in this morning. neil gorsuch fills the 14-month-old vacancy. animals at risk of euthanasia come to pennsylvania in the hopes of finding a new home. >> a male has been arrested after hitting two people and kept on going. police are looking into what caused the man to lose chrome. katherine scott has more. police say the two victims were walking back from a family gathering when they were struck by a hit-and-run driver. this is the 29-year-old man behind the wheel of the 2002 nissan that hit two pedestrians last night in hunting park. it happened at 10:15 p.m. near 6th and erie. nearby residents heard the crash and came running.
